The Prospect was erected in 1858, a testament to the bustling gold rush era that once define Beechworth. The name "The Prospect" pays homage to both its original custodian, pharmacist William Witt, a founding member of the Beechworth Prospecting Association and to all the hopeful prospectors who flocked Beechworth in search of gold.
The Prospect also doubles as an art gallery, showcasing the works of talented established and emerging artists from North East Victoria and beyond. Many of these captivating works are available to purchase.
