About this property
Tranquility on the River
Britt is the Hidden Gem of Georgian Bay, easily accessible but not commercialized. A small community of 300 odd friendly folks, it's rustic and serene. In summers, watch beavers, ducks and loons, swim in Silent River, or sit on the swing and enjoy the breeze. Visit the local Ice Cream parlor or rent a canoe and make your way to Georgian Bay. In winters, go ice fishing in the beautiful Magnetawan teeming with Bass, Pike, Perch, Walleye, Catfish, Smelt, Speckle Trout, etc.
Spacious and cozy, a bright yellow door welcomes you to the cottage and the sound of flowing water lulls you to sleep. Modern amenities make your stay comfortable while the feeling of escape persists, especially once the sky darkens. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, there's ample room to enjoy board games on the gaming table, sip your morning coffee in the sunroom, or stargaze on clear nights. We have two queen beds and a bunk bed, making it ideal for four adults and two children. There’s also a dock to swim or tie your boat. Fire extinguishers are available in the Sunroom and the Kitchen (under the sink), and a basic First Aid kit is located inside the Cedar bathroom vanity.
Please note, this village is in unorganized territory, so not every city-based amenity is available. There’s one shop for groceries, basics, and booze, and water comes from a drilled well. There is no trash collection, so we ask guests to carry away their garbage and recyclables, but if this is difficult, we’ve other options.

We liked Sue’s cottage, it was comfortable and had pretty much anything we might need for a weekend away.

Sorry you felt that way, Alok. We tried to offer as much information as possible upfront. We even offered to refund you outside of our policies before you came as you didn’t like the garbage and recycling policies - clearly stated in our listing. This is cottage country and services are not comparable with the city. Please remember next time you visit the Canadian North outside of the Muskokas.
Have a lovely day ahead.
The stay was well organized and good. It was a great weekend to wind back and enjoy nature. The place is calm and peaceful. My interactions with the host was very helpful and we enjoyed the place. The host Sur was always ready to help us in any way possible and we appreciate her for that.
My husband and I had a great time on our extended weekend stay here. The house was clean and well equipped, with lots of useful information in the manual/welcome book. It was nice to be on the river and see and hear the birds. It was also great to be a short drive from different parks and trails. We appreciated Sue’s quick response when we asked her a question the first morning. It was a very nice stay.
2 Girlfriends and I came for the week to kayak. What a perfect location to use as a base to launch from nearby beach to explore Georgian Bay or travel up the highway to explore the French River.
Sue, the host, was super friendly and quick to respond from time of booking 4 months ago to making sure we were taken care of when we arrived.
The cottage is quaint, the beds are super comfortable, the 2 bathrooms have showers which made it easy for everyone to get ready quickly for the day of kayaking and exploring the area.

Thank you so much, Tracy! You were a delight to host. Appreciate you sending the gorgeous pictures you clicked during your stay at the place.
We enjoyed the stay as whole. The cottage was clean and on the Still River bank. We have seen lots of birds and an otter every day. It was the hottest days of the year, the windows needed open in the night. The water is non-potable water. We brought our own bottled water. The location is easy to find.

We were on a fishing trip in the Key River area and stayed at Tranquility on the River for 4 nights. There was excellent parking for 1 boat and trailer with a nearby receptacle so we could charge our boat at night.
The cottage was clean. The linens provided were also clean. The cottage is 2min from a local corner store which has liquor, beer and a small grocery store in case you need anything. The closest boat launch is also 2 min away.
The cottage does not have outdoor furniture so bring yourvown folding chairs if you wish to sit out on the deck or dock.
We would definitely stay here again.

Disliked: Listing accuracy
Good Scenery but not what was expected.
Pros:
Good scenery, peaceful with nice views, big and clean property, location is within short driving distance to parks/beaches, owner was quick to respond to question/concerns, owner offered partial refund due to BBQ issue
Cons:
Property amenities on website not accurate
No hot tub as mentioned in ad
BBQ was not in working condition
Bedroom layout is not ideal as one is directly in living room/kitchen area (not quiet)
Other bedroom is on opposite end (quiet)
River/canal water did not appear clean for swimming from property dock
Local resident did not recommend swimming from property dock
No garbage disposal in walking distance
Cottage was clean, communication with owner was very good. Beds were not the most comfortable and there’s no A/C or laundry facilities. Otherwise great spot very quiet and a cozy cottage.

About the host
Hosted by Sue
We discovered Britt and our cottage by accident and the small town with its quaint shop and the friendly, down to earth people caught our fancy. We've made this place our getaway and love sharing it with other nature loving folks who need to destress from the mundanity of daily life.
Why they chose this property
This is a simple place with modern amenities while still offering a vibe of a time long gone. Get away from it all while not driving too far from the city.
What makes this property unique
It's one of the few properties on a quiet river with not too much traffic or too strong a current. Swimming is a pleasure here and so is star gazing. It's cottage country, so seasonal flies and mosquitoes are to be expected.
