Enchanting cottage connected to Lily Point Marine Park
Imagine a your own private mini villa. Now add in a grove of magnificent cedars as your landscape. For sounds only the occasional screech of an eagle as it sours high over head or perhaps the soothing rustle of the wind through the cedars. Your next door neighbor is a 250 acre park with walking trails leading down to one mile of secluded pacific beach. Impossible you say! Check out the pictures. One villa has a solarium downstairs and a deck upstairs as well as a beautiful gas fireplace to make the winter nights into a cozy intimate delight. The bedroom upstairs is luxurious, inviting, and romantic. Fabulous windows, yellow cedar paneling and wool area rugs. We only left one thing out. Noise. In this bedroom you will experience as close as you can get to pure silence. On a still night the silence is amazing. If there is a breeze then you get the wonderful rustle of the cedars. The kitchen is well set up for cooking with two high speed gas burners and a microwave. The newly renovated 'solarium' bathroom has an antique clawfoot tub and shower with continuous hot water so you never run out. The main floor has radiant heated floors. And we have recently added a concrete patio area.
The view from your cottage is a 250 acre park. You are in a totally private and serene space. Your beautifully appointed cottage has heated floors, an antique clawfoot tub and a private patio with a gas firepit. Note: Pets are allowed but there is a pet fee.
Your cottage is part of Lily Point Park Lodges. Five hand-crafted cottages, designed and built by your host. Each one totally unique. We have recently added a new space for our guests that we call the 'Spirit Lodge' (see the pictures). With the Spirit Lodge we have tried to create an indoor / outdoor space that you can use to relax and entertain in. It also features a infrared sauna where you can melt away any aches and pains.
If you're thinking of working remotely, Point Roberts could be the best choice. Point Roberts has some unique advantages. First and foremost you are in the United States AND you are only a few minutes away from one of the great international cites, Vancouver Canada. We are closer to downtown Vancouver BC than most of the suburbs of Vancouver. Where else can you find a world class nature experience virtually next door to an exciting foreign metropolis. And remember that the Canadian dollar is at an all time low against the US dollar. So you have all the excitement of Vancouver and also Whistler mountain with its amazing 36 gondolas and chairs (only 2.5 hours) away. And don’t forget Seattle, also only 2.5 hours away.
We also have a major regional shopping center (15 minutes drive). Our Canadian neighbor Tsawwassen (7 minutes drive) has over 50 good restaurants. Your cottage has its own internet high speed access point. We have had many guests working remotely over the last few years.
The Gingerbread cottage has been built as part of a 'micro resort' of cottages that are specifically designed to be a 'transformative experience'. You can expect a totally natural, absolutely quiet and serene environment and a cottage that lulls you into a sense of well being and relaxation. You will be delighted by all the little touches and details. You will be able to 'build a perfect balance' to your day by exploring the 250 acre park with lovely walking trails and secluded tidelands that is literally your next door neighbor. After only a few days you will feel relaxed and 'de-stressed' and ready to take on new challenges in your life.
We are about 30 minutes from Vancouver International Airport. We are also twenty minutes from one the terminals of the largest ferry system in the world at Tsawwassen BC. From there you can venture all the way up the northern pacific coast to Haida Gwaii, the legendary Island home of the Haida first nation
When you have that little slice of free time you want to make it as satisfying as possible. We want to help you have an experience that you can look forward to, experience to the fullest and then savor in your memory. An almost magical experience that gives you the chance to reset, and recharge. Get in touch with your inner balance.

This was just what I needed to step back and recharge my spirit. A lovely space surrounded by nature and peace. The gingerbread cabin was just like the pictures. The extra blanket came in handy for the morning chill.
I wish my stay was longer. Next time I’ll know better.
My host was amazingly flexible with my checkout time. I really appreciated the extra time in this sweet space.

Quirky, but a getaway nonetheless!
I’m going to preface this with saying that, overall, we made the best of our stay, & enjoyed our weekend! It did come with a few laughs over the 'adventures' of the cabin though.
Pros: The area is beautiful, small town vibe, quiet & peaceful, wildlife abounded, local restaurant fare was amazingly delicious, a trail is right behind the cabin, the propane woodstove kept the place warm.
Now I’ll clarify a few things we discovered: 1) The cabin is not as remote & secluded as it appears to be in the photos. You are right next to the owner’s home, & other cabins are nearby. We didn’t have any issues with neighbors, but my whole concept of our getaway was solitude & to be remote. 2) The bathroom is not mentioned or shown in photos, & here’s probably why: What you first think is just a toilet room, you discover is the ENTIRETY of the bathroom. No sink, no mirror. (A person of larger stature would also not be able to use this well.) When you straddle the toilet, or hug the wall, to shut the door, you discover the shower on the opposite wall. (Yep, ya shower with the toilet!) 2a) If the shower knob isn’t really solidly turned off, the drip will keep the floor saturated, continuously; which, if you don’t have shoes on to use the bathroom, isn’t pleasant to discover . 3) The only sink is the kitchen sink.
Cons (fixable): 1) The cabin had a LOT of cobwebs; in the blinds, rafters, on the fixtures, in the windows. (I’m kind of a neat-freak so it bugged me.) 2) Bed pillows were completely non-supportive, they ‘floofed’ down to being basically flat to the mattress. 3) Behind the cabin (to walk to the trail) had a bit of strewn around junk that wasn’t very appealing. 4) The bathroom door is wood, & opens in. Given that this is also the shower door, wood rots & molds, which was visible. Also, the door opening in makes it quite difficult to utilize overall. (Glass door, open out, maybe widen it?) 5) Curtains in the bedroom were just lace, so not light-blocking or privacy-providing. (Howdy hi sunshine! (&/or neighbor!))
Other warning: Stairs are narrow & steep – use caution going down if you’re intoxicated, or generally unbalanced! Not that it happened to me, just, thinking of others...
Honestly, don’t be deterred from renting the cabin, but do be aware of its quirks! :) It'd be best for 1-2 people, who are maybe smaller in stature.

Response from VrboOwner on 22 September 2023
Trina's comments are valid and I am glad that she was able to enjoy her stay and take a balanced view of things. The Gingerbread cottage has now been a destination for over ten years and has had generally rave reviews but two things do come up from time to time... the bathroom and the cobwebs. With regards to the cobwebs, after I read this review I went over and checked and yes I found some. My female friends have warned me that women HATE cobwebs. I get that. BUT this cottage is in the forest. My botanist friend assures me that the spiders in the Pacific Northwest are pretty safe. Remember without spiders we would not be here as the insects would literally overrun the planet. That being said I will be more vigilant.
With regards to the bathroom, we are doing a renovation this spring (2017) and among other things expanding the bathroom and adding an antique clawfoot tub. Will will post the photos as soon as we are done.

It was a perfect time away
It was a little gingerbread cottage with all that i needed for a time of rest and reflection. I had thought it was closer to the beach so that was the only disappointment.
The house was compact, but well equipped. The gas fire made the property very warm and welcoming. However, the best feature for us was that the Lily Point trails were 10 steps from our front door, something we and our dog really enjoyed. If you want to enjoy the great outdoors (forest & beach) without having to get into your car, check this out!
The Gingerbread House is a charming cabin that is perfect for wanting some time off the grid. It's equipped with the basic necessities for cooking a meal, like pasta. It's like camping without being miserable. You're not in a tent or RV camp ground with hundreds of other people, you have electricity, heat, indoor seating, wifi, a small but full sized bathroom, and a decent bed. It backs up to walking trails with beach access, which was a dream! Sunrise and sunset walks with my dogs were sublime. The Host is friendly and attentive. If you are looking for a place to hit the stress reset/pause button, this place is it.
We loved our time at the gingerbread cottage. The property was secluded (perfect for a getaway from the hustle and bustle) and close to trails that take you to the beach. The cottage was well designed and we especially loved the claw foot tub and loft master with a rooftop deck. Oh, and our 7 month old ridgeback puppy loved it as well!
We enjoyed our short stay in the Point Roberts Gingerbread House. The proximity to the forest trails can’t be beat and the forest was amazing. Salt Water cafe had great breakfasts! We’ll be back.
Had a great stay. Pat the owner was very hospitable. We were only slightly disappointed that the cabin wasn’t as private and secluded as we’d imagined it would be. Other cabins are in very close proximity.
All in all, lily point was beautiful. Peaceful and amazing scenery and viewpoints just beyond your back yard.
This tiny-house cabin is super cute. Living in such a small footprint has its quirks such as limited counter, storage and cooking space, however the owner has done a very nice job with it and we enjoyed our stay.
Point Roberts has a semi-wild and remote feel, yet entertainment and high rise buildings are minutes away. While convenient, the contrast between these two worlds can be simultaneously fascinating and a bit jarring. We appreciated the quiet forest oasis so close to the city.
Plenty of hot water, and I slept like a log on the very comfortable bed.

Magical place
Pat's cottage provides superb access to a magical place, the Lily Point Marine Reserve. After hiking all through the said Reserve, a hot shower feels great and Pat's cottage has that in abundance. We enjoyed our stay there, even though we ended up staying in the wrong cottage- our mistake by not paying close attention to Pat's instructions. Luckily, Pat managed our mistake and we enjoyed our four days.

Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing
We stayed for three nights in Gingerbread cottage which was absolutely charming and very comfortable.
We had just completed a seven week Motorhome trip from San Francisco in a quite small vehicle. The stay at the cottage was our treat to ourselves before we flew home to the UK. And what a treat to stay in such beautiful surroundings with a lovely big comfortable bed. The bedroom in particular was amazing with big skylights and windows. Lying in bed at night gazing at the tree tops and the occasional glimpse of sky and stars was, as I think Americans often say, truly awesome There was even a double patio door to an upstairs terrace. Whilst sitting on the patio on our first evening a bald eagle flew within about ten feet of us to settle in a branch alongside the cottage. That was a wonderful moment for us and We felt privileged to have seen it.
We walked several of the trails, one day taking the one to the beach which was quite challenging for two pensioners but well worth the effort.
Another day we walked the 2.5 miles to the restaurant at the marina and enjoyed a great meal.
All in all our stay at Gingerbread Cottage finished off our trip perfectly. May even come back again for a longer stay.
Thank you to all that make this a special place.

Beautiful and quiet, very peaceful.
I really enjoyed my stay at Lily Point. The only thing lacking was some linens. There were no washcloths or bathmat in the bathroom. I will definitely make this trip again and will stay again.

Cute, peaceful wood cabin in the woods.
Great location. Super cute house with enough space for 2 people. Very peaceful in amongst the trees. There was a great trail that backed the property, leading down to the Lily Point Park. We enjoyed the electric fireplace and the coziness of the cabin. The cabin was as expected, and it was tidy. It could have used a bit of a deeper clean however, that would be our only feedback; We felt like we needed to wash the dishes prior to using them, and the bathroom could have used a clean. The clawfoot tub was neat. Pat checked in with us while we were onsite, and he was friendly. The cabin was easy to find, and we appreciated the "user manual" that was waiting for us when we arrived. Thanks for the surprise chocolates on our bed! We enjoyed living in a cozy space for a weekend, checking out the sights in Point Roberts, aka "Little America".

A lovely stay in the woods..
I arrived a little after dark to the fire going ... got the dogs and car unpacked... very comfy bed — I had my own pillow... trails were easily accessible from the cottage and we were out and about on them and the park beaches everyday... unfortunately not much open in the area — off season, but this looks like it would be great in the summer! Saw lots of birds, a bald eagle feasting by the water, and a sea lion swimming about... a very quiet and restful time.. cottage had everything we needed..

Relaxing and charming!
This stay was incredible. We had two people and a dog for a 3-night stay. The property is beautiful and unique. It was a fantastic experience to sit in front of the fireplace indoors and read. This was the closest you can get to being in the woods while still having a fantastic bathroom, heated floors, a kitchen with a propane stove, and the most comfortable bed you can imagine. There are windows over the bed that show the trees. Each morning we woke up to rain and saw maginificent cedar trees, and we heard eagles chatting above us. Over the course of a 3 day stay, we saw over 8 bald eagles. Absolutely incredible experience. We also took our dog down to the beach each day, which was a lovely short hike. We took a short drive up to Vancouver, BC and had a delicious dinner. I would come back or recommend this place to anyone.

Quiet, peaceful cottage nestled in the woods.
Pat greeted us with a smile and was very friendly. The cottage was the perfect size for us and our pups to come back to after a day adventuring around Point Roberts. He even shared some of his delicious home-brewed kombucha with us! The space is equipped with everything we needed for basic cooking. Pat also let us use his propane grill. Thanks for a great weekend!

The Quiet of Nature
The space is for those seeking rest and a peaceful environment. Close to water and walks in nature. You will sleep well and watch stares from the patio on the upper deck. There is a old fashion claw tub to soak in. Sit back and watch Netflix or sit by the fireplace stove or sit outside with a fireplace as well. Close to amenities.

About the host
Hosted by Pat Capozzi
I have lived 'on the point' for ten years and had a unique opportunity to share this wonderful place with folks looking for relaxation and a chance to 'get away'. I am always amazed by how thoughtful and well mannered the guests at the cottage are.
Why they chose this property
I originally built the first cottage for my son to stay in when he came to visit. The second cottage was an effort to improve on the use of space.
What makes this property unique
The cottages are connected to Lily Point State Park that has many beautiful trails some of which lead to very private pacific ocean beaches.
