About the host

Our family of five, including a 2 year-old, a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old golden retriever, live in Seattle. Tim is a college professor. Neha is a psychologist. We visit the cabin as often as we can. It is our sanctuary where we go to intentionally connect with family, friends, and nature. We love to entertain and we often have guests in the detached studio cottage. If you choose our cabin, we hope you love it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

Location! Location! Location! The Cabin at Langley (on Whidbey Island) is our private sanctuary. It is located at the end of a private drive that meanders through the trees and the sun-filled, half-acre garden is surrounded by trees on three sides. There is an abundance of wildlife with rabbits, squirrels, deer and many varieties of birds.

If you are drawn to the sea, the South Whidbey Harbor at Langley is less than a mile away. The Harbor includes a pier with spectacular views of Saratoga Passage, a boat launch, and a small, sandy beach. You can rent kayaks and stand-up paddle boards from Whidbey Island Kayaking or book a whale watching charter with Mystic Sea, which "promises 100% that you'll see a grey whale while onboard."

If hiking or mountain biking is more your style, the Putney Woods, Saratoga Woods, Metcalf Trail System is only three miles away, a forest preserve of 800+ acres that includes nearly 20 miles of trails.

Further afield, about ten miles away, is one of the best dog parks in the Pacific Northwest. Double Bluff Off-Leash Dog Beach includes a two-mile stretch of wide, beautiful sand.

Other popular destinations on Whidbey Island, includ: Fort Casey Historical State Park (26 miles), Coupeville (27 miles), Fort Ebey State Park (31 miles) and Deception Pass State Park (48 miles).

What makes this property unique

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THE CABIN: the wood interior, the cathedral ceiling, the fire place, the third floor loft which we use as a meditation space, the many windows, the sky lights, the rocking chairs, the long window seat in the living room, the many decks, and the bucolic view from just about every window.

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THE COTTAGE: the charm, the fire place, the porch, the rocking chairs, the privacy, the proximity to the cabin, the sky lights and the simple, but tasteful decor.

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THE GARDEN: the size (about half an acre), the woodsy feel, the wildlife (including rabbits, deer, squirrels and many varieties of birds), the fruit trees, the fire pit, and the privacy.
