The Neighborhood
Launceston is a beautiful city that seamlessly blends heritage charm, urban wilderness, and world-class dining. Named one of Australia’s top towns to visit, everything you need is right on your doorstep.
Food & Drink: You are perfectly positioned to experience the best of Launceston’s culinary scene. Explore Charles Street (locally known as our 'Lygon Street') for popular cafes and boutiques, or head to George Street (‘Eat Street’) for an array of restaurants and trendy gin bars. Along the Tamar River, the Seaport Precinct offers beloved local dining spots like Mudbar, Levee Food Co., and Spice.
Culture & Entertainment: Don't miss the vibrant Harvest Market every Saturday morning for incredible fresh, local Tasmanian produce. Catch a live show at the historic Princess Theatre, enjoy a nostalgic cinematic experience at the Star Theatre, or discover live music at nearby pubs.
Nature & Family: The spectacular Cataract Gorge is just minutes away, offering scenic walking trails, a freshwater swimming basin, the world's longest single-span chairlift, and resident peacocks. You can also explore City Park with its famous snow monkey enclosure, visit Penny Royal World for family adventures, or let the kids play all day at Riverbend Park.
Getting Around
While many of Launceston's top spots are within easy walking distance, we recommend a car to get the absolute most out of your stay and comfortably explore the surrounding region.
Parking: Private, off-street parking for up to two vehicles is located at the rear of the property (accessed via the grey gates on Walbourne Street). Please note: One space is suitable for a medium-sized car, while the second space is suitable for a small car only.
Free Tiger Bus: Easy to spot with its distinctive black and brown Tasmanian Tiger stripes, this free bus circulates around the city. Convenient nearby stops are located right outside Princes Square Park and the Launceston General Hospital.
Alternative Transport: Metro public buses offer daily routes to outer suburbs. Purple "Beam" electric scooters are parked throughout the city and accessible via app. For bike rentals, Roll Cycles (112 Cimitiere St) offers excellent options for both city cruising and world-class mountain bike trails. Uber, local taxis, and airport shuttles are also readily available.
