Families are welcome, but I don't have highchairs, cribs, travel beds, bed rails, plastic dishes, etc. The furniture and art in the space are primarily intended for adults rather than for the more rambunctious variety of children.
This is a central Halifax residential neighbourhood. The house is on a main street, and there is some street noise at the front of the house. It is primarily daytime traffic noise, and diminishes at night. The bedrooms are located at the back of the house and are remarkably quiet, and the street noise is more than made up for by the beautiful cemetery across the street.
There is no cable.
The backyard is shared with the owner in the upper unit, and is primarily used for accessing the parking space. Registration number RYA-2023-24-04171957527595818-1656

About the host
Your host
I am a photographer and artist, originally from Toronto, and now living in Halifax. I have lived in many places over the last several decades, including several times in France and other places in Europe. I love having the opportunity to stay in homes when I travel rather than hotels, shopping at the local farmers markets, cooking with local ingredients, and feeling like I'm living in the city rather than just being a tourist. Because the nature of my work is that I don't need access to this studio full time (I have a smaller one upstairs), I really enjoy having the opportunity to share it with others so that they can enjoy the house and Halifax as much as I do.
Why they chose this property
I looked for a long time before I found this house, which I fell in love with partially for the house and partially for the incredible location. Right across the street is a beautiful old cemetery, and the block after that is the Halifax Public Gardens. Getting downtown just takes a walk through these 2 beautiful spaces.
What makes this property unique
The house is 115 years old. It has the charm of an older home, but with all of the comforts of modern life. Last year I fully insulated it and added a new furnace, and there is also air conditioning which isn't very common in Nova Scotia. The beds are new and comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped, unlike many short term rentals with just the minimum of cutlery and dishes, and there is original artwork on the walls.
