Great location, we were able to walk over to Brule to ski. Beds were small but comfortable, which is the most important. We enjoyed the sauna, fireplace and view of the ski hill.Overall it was clean, needs a little more detail cleaning, edge vacuuming.
We had a great weekend at this cabin, which is right across the street from Ski Brule. It was the perfect space for our group, which included adults and children. We were able to easily get to and from the hill both days we skied and enjoyed après ski at the cabin as well as homemade dinners and breakfast. The communications with the property manager were super simple, who was very welcoming and accommodating.

Awesome chalet and perfect location!
We loved this chalet, the location and area are perfect for outdoor adventure year round. Even with our kids, this chalet is an easy walk to the ski lift at Ski Brule Mountain. We plan to stay here again for our summer vacation so we can explore the many near by lakes and waterfalls. Communication with our host was great. The beds and furniture were cozy and comfortable. We found the place clean and tidy. There was even a sweet welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived. Our best recommendation!
The property was clean and as described. 4 full beds is nice for my family if 5. Owner was quick to respond, manager was once his cell was shared. Had an issue with the fridge not working and they were quick to make it right but it was cold outside so it wasn’t necessary. Just want to make sure it gets fixed for the next person.

Missed the mark
The location is great and communication was really good. They even gotbus in a little early but that is still overshadowed by the terribly uncomfortable furniture in the entire place as well as well as several concerns with cleaning, we had cobwebs in the bathroom and dirt around the tub and dirty foil on the stovetop etc. The entire place needs updates. For the amound we paid for three nights I would still expect more. We have stayed in a lot of vrbo places over the years and never been this disappointed.

It’s not the Ritz
Property is old and very worn, location is fantastic and that’s why we chose it. On arrival, we discovered the doors weren’t numbered, so there was a lot of confusion when the other renters arrived before we did and chose the wrong side. Property manager was easy to work with and pretty prompt with responses. Never figured out the heat completely and had issues with the toaster, stove, and coffee maker - they worked, but not well. Everything inside the rental needs to be replaced, but it was adequate for our 2-day stay. Don’t choose this property if you’ve never been to deer camp before! We will find something more comfortable for future trips, even if it’s a bit further from the Hill.

Hi Chad, Thank you for your feedback we are sorry that it was not what you expected. The units are listed as 1 and 2, and each has a different door code. We're sorry if this was confusing to you. We can add numbers to each unit to make it crystal clear. Regarding the toaster, stove, and coffee maker, we are not aware of any issues, and as far as we know work very well. The heat is electric baseboard heating and controlled with thermostats in each area/room. Regarding your statement we are a chalet/cabin and not a camp and feel that everything in the cabin is clean and comfortable, Our decor is perfect for this setting, which is right across the street from Michigan's most popular and family-friendly ski and snowboard resort. We have had many guests who have enjoyed our home and have shared kind words and 5-star reviews of their experiences there.

Our new favorite vacation rental
Awesome close up views of Ski Brule Mountain from the deck and front windows. Tall rock fireplace that kept the chalet warm and cozy. Two bedrooms and the loft with more beds offered plenty of room for the whole family to stretch out. Everything you need is provided, right down to a pizza cutter. Besides the recreational opportunities offered right across the street at Ski Brule, we learned there is a ton of year round fun things to do in the area. Even just hiking through the quaint village st Ski Brule and the woods around was beautiful. We also discovered a shrine to the Mother Mary with two angels nestled in some beautiful moss rock outcroppings in the side yard of the property. This was a bonus for us at the start of Holy Week.We do stay in a number of vacation rentals during the year and we will be back here again this summer. There is something very special about this place, the setting, combined with the vintage chalet was perfect.
I don't typically write reviews but this property warrants comments for future renters!!
Our first impression was definitely unsatisfactory! Unclean bathrooms, cobwebs, overabundance of live beetles, and hearing little rodents in the walls and ceilings. Lacked basics like garbage bags, sufficient tissues, and sufficient toilet paper. Garbage dumpster outside was overflowing already when we arrived. The renters in the other duplex said they had a dead bird and dead chipmunk.
Unfortunately, when I emailed the property owner within hours of arrival about the lack of basic supplies, he never responded.
This rental is severely in need of upgrades. Looks like 70s carpet and thin paneling on walls and ceiling. The great location and sauna were horribly overshadowed by the lack of care for this property. Truly disappointing for our kids since this adventure was part of their Christmas gift.
