Albert Road Cottage: Comfy, vintage home near water & town
Experience life in Australia in a bygone era where domestic life was one of calm and joyful class - representing the optimism of the post-war era. The original features and unique items in the traditional Aussie home provide ambience, comfort and interest. The house can accommodate up to 6 people in 4 beds (extra mattresses can be provided). It's one block from the estuary (see the map), putting you close to both walks along the water, town and Bunbury's many attractions.
There is off-street parking for 4 or 5 vehicles. Your own caravan can be parked up with access to power and a water hose, by prior arrangement.
It's one block from the estuary where you can fish & crab (crab nets provided in season), and there's an easy walk into town through Queens Garden where Saturday local markets are held. There's also cycling and walking tracks, perfect for getting children and dogs out. There's easy access to all of Bunbury's sights including the Dolphin Discovery Centre, Bunbury Wildlife Park, Bunbury Farmers Market, Koombana Bay, Back Beach, Marlston Hill Lookout, Bunbury Lighthouse, Mangrove Boardwalk, Leschenault Inlet, Bunbury Regional Art Gallery, the CBD Mural Trail, Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre, Wyalup-Rocky Point, South West Sports Centre, Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre, HOYTS Cinemas, Boulters Heights, Maidens Reserve, Wardandi Boodja Sculpture, and St Patrick's Cathedral.
The historic 1937 caravan was featured in WA author Tim Winton's Cloudstreet TV series and is gorgeous to sleep or chill with friends. It's set up with facilities including a fridge to serve drinks or tea and serves as a 4th bedroom.
The cottage kitchen is perfect for cooking and will meet all your needs. An oven, gas cook top, microwave, rice cooker, slow cooker, food processor and small size dishwasher etc ensure that you can cook or bake to your heart's content. A coffee pod machine and milk frother are provided, with teas, coffee and milk, as are seasonings, oil, condiments, some spreads and a basic pantry etc for your convenience.
There is an original Metters stove and large gas BBQ on the patio, with dining table and sofa to relax under the verandah. Fill the vintage cast iron bath in the garden to cool down or rinse off after trips to the beach. The kids love it. Run the water onto the garden after.
The shared outdoors laundry can be accessed by prior arrangement with laundry soap etc provided, or a laundry service can be provided by the caretaker who lives in a rear annex.
There are books, board games and some toys for children. Outdoor games, including a mini-golf set that you can use at the free mini-golf course opposite town, a walk away, are provided. You could also loan the stand up paddle board that can fit an adult and two children. There are two surfskis too that can be wheeled to the estuary.
All bedrooms have generous wardrobe space and bedside cabinets and two also include dressing tables.
Pets are welcome inside and out, by prior arrangement. Dogs can be left unattended in the secure garden if needed. We have provided doggie daycare for some of our working guests.
Let me know your family or group details so I can ensure the house is set up perfectly for you.
A caretaker is present in a separate annex with separate amenities. There are no shared areas, except for the laundry. Your absolute privacy is assured and your area is locked.

Absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful house. Christine was lovely and very friendly to deal with. The house had everything we needed and extra. The theme definitely brought back so many memories. The kids loved the idea of the caravan and spent most the time playing in it and the outside area. Such a family friendly atmosphere. We Would definitely stay here again when we visit Bunbury next.

The Host ,Christine, is the most welcoming person, she cannot do enough to cater for your needs, there was everything you needed for your break away at the home, it was very close to everything you may want, Koombana Beach is literally only five minute's drive from the home,

Thanks for being an awesome guest, and leaving the house so wonderfully clean. I feel honoured to host your family a second time.
Albert Road Cottage is a lovely homely cottage that is beautifully kept and looked after by its lovely host, who is excellent at communicating with guest to ensure you stay is comfortable. We really enjoyed this lovely house, it was very comfortable and clean.
Myself plus teen / tween daughter’s loved our stay, particularly the 1950’s details in the house, the 1940’s caravan and the wonderful location, so close to the water and a circular walk, including 15 minutes into town. It all meant they could enjoy their independence safely

I highly recommend this to anyone who wants or needs to get away. We travelled from Perth to attend a family event and I cannot express how much we didn’t want to leave. We are definitely planning another booking here
Host Christine provided great communication, the house is definitely like stepping back in time For me that was really very nostalgic and as per the photos. Location is great , good for parking , everything you would want for a peaceful stay.

It was home away from home. Comfortable bed everything was very cozy lots of spices and sauces. If you wanted to have a dinner party, everything is here. I loved the choice of glasses, beautiful cutlery, plates ect. we will definitely come back.
It seemed weird to have a cottage with the back rooms accomodating the owners family. The barbecue was in poor condition and the knobs require repair.. Visitors need to understand it is a retro cottage fitted out with old style furniture that may not suit everyone. There was no shortage of electrical cooking support though we couldn’t get the gas oven to fire up. It won’t suit everyone, there was even a possum that made an appearance. Bob

A cottage that is very much loved by guests. The rear section is entirely separate from the cottage and the listing clearly states that a caretaker lives on the property. The oven is electric. You just had to switch it on. No complaints about the BBQ before. Old Bob is obviously an old moaner.
