Note that the water at this property is not able to be consumed. The renter is not notified about the water until the morning of check-in. In addition, the smell of the water was so severe that we had to leave the property. I was raised on well water, I am familiar that it smells differently, but this smells as though the well has to be replaced. Washing hands made our hands and arms smell completely rotten. I cannot believe that a home can be rented that does not have water that can be consumed.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear the water impacted your stay. The home operates on a well system, which can naturally have an odor at times, and this is noted for guests prior to arrival. That said, we’ve followed up to ensure everything is functioning as expected and meets our standards. Once your concerns were raised, a full refund was promptly issued. Your feedback helps us continue improving the guest experience.
Very nice lakefront home with tons of charm. Perfect location for relaxation whether it's floating all day, witnessing the spectacular sunrises or just enjoying the breeze off the lake. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for quiet, stress free getaway. Easy check in and owner is extremely nice!

Quiet place by the lake
As promised, this cottage is indeed a quiet place by the lake. The entire place was kept clean and had a well stocked kitchen with all required utensils and cutlery. Water is an issue though, as there's some smell in it. Other than that, it's a great destination overall.
We enjoyed our stay immensely! The beautiful views including sunrise are priceless. We loved that we could fish just steps from the door. The house was very clean, bright and nicely decorated and comfortable beds. The surrounding neighbors were all very friendly. We would definitely stay here again!

The owners should mention the horrible smell of the water, and that they do nothing about the bugs.

From the owner: "Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry to hear you didn’t fully enjoy your stay. To clarify, the property uses well water that runs through a water softener system, ensuring it’s clean and safe to use. As for the bugs, the home sits right by the lake, so it’s normal to see some insects outdoors, though we do have regular outdoor and indoor monthly sprays to keep things under control inside the property. We also want to mention that the home was left in an unusual condition after checkout, a towel was missing, and there was poop left in the bathroom, which is not typical of our guests. While we always aim to provide a great experience, your stay was particularly challenging for our team despite our efforts to accommodate you. Best regards"

Wonderful!
We had a wonderful stay at Marina on the Rocks. The cabin was beautifully decorated and had a great view of the lake. The host was so friendly and accommodating, and she even gave us some great recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to stay in and relax.

From the owner: "Hi Megan, thank you for your kind words! We're thrilled you enjoyed your stay at Marina on the Rocks. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we’re so glad you loved the cabin, the view, and the local recommendations. Hope to welcome you back soon!"
The property was very nice. The Lakeview was absolutely beautiful. This would be a wonderful place for a couple or two couples as there are two bedrooms with king beds. That was very nice. Also they have a very cool screen door that is magnetized and shuts on its own when you go in and out. Helps tremendously with the bugs. The hosts are very nice and very helpful. If you need anything at all they try to help you very promptly. Our time went by way too fast. Would definitely stay again.
We did enjoy the view and the quiet location! We had trouble with the key getting into the house, but they answered our call promptly, and helped us out. It looked like no one had been there for quite sometime. A bit dusty, and when we went to pull the bedding, there was dog hair, so we covered it with fresh sheets. The bugs are no joke, we couldn't walk outside in the morning because they covered the entire property. We could not shower or really use the water because of the intense foul odor that came from the drains. We ended up buying water to brush our teeth and wash our hands. There was no soap for us to clean the dishes, either. The fire pit was nice, but the neighbors right next door were burning plastic or something you shouldn't breath in, so we couldn't stay out for long. The location was cozy, right up against Lake Huron. However, the furniture was cheap and uncomfortable. We would rate this 4 out of 10 overall.

Thanks for sharing your experience—we’re glad you enjoyed the peaceful setting and Lake Huron views. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:• The home is professionally cleaned and inspected before each stay, but I would’ve appreciated the opportunity to address the dust or bedding concerns during your visit.• The water is treated, tested, and safe to use—the odor you noticed is due to natural minerals common in the area, not a sanitation issue.• Dish soap and other essentials are regularly stocked, and my team confirmed they were available during your stay. The furniture is also selected for both comfort and durability, and I’ll continue to assess where updates may be helpful.• While neighboring activity is out of my control, it hasn’t been a common concern among past guests, and I’ll continue to keep an eye on it.We appreciate you sharing your thoughts as we continue working to deliver the comfortable, 5-star stays we’re known for.

We booked a two night get away. On our way to the property we received a text cautioning us that the water was not drinkable and to bring our own drinking water. When we arrived, we found the property clean but noted the seawall had several washouts that would concern us if we had small children or pets. The property itself wasn't totally bad but when flushing the toilet, a foul odor filled the bathroom and the bathroom door would not stay open to let it dissipate so we had to prop it open with something. We then tried to settle in for the evening but found the furniture was very uncomfortable and difficult to relax on. We planned to spend time on the property and not travel and found no cushions available for the outside furniture in order to enjoy the lake views. The next morning our walk around the neighborhood was nice but upon our return and taking showers found the smell from the water permeated the entire premises. We then tried to open the windows but found no screens and based on the warning of bugs elected to return home early. As we prepared to leave we found supplies limited such as dishwashing liquid.

From the owner: "Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you found the property clean and enjoyed the neighborhood walk. We’d like to clarify a few points to help future guests:- The home is on a well water system, which is very common for lake properties. Instructions about bringing bottled drinking water were sent very early in the morning of your arrival, and also, well water is in the description of the property. The water is safe for dishwashing and bathing, and there’s a pump under the sink with dishwashing and plenty of dishwashing soap in the cabinet.- There are also screens on every door, including the patio door, and the cleaning team confirmed this during inspection. As for the natural setting, occasional bugs are normal for lakefront homes, similar to any property near water.- We appreciate your feedback about the outdoor cushions and will make sure they’re more visible for future guests.Thank you again for staying with us, and we wish you safe travels on your future getaways."
