Located in Downtown Friday Harbor! 2 Bedroom Full Bath and Kitchenette. 2 Queen Beds. Walking Distance to the Ferry.

The Farmer is one of 5 separate Suites to rent among the Acanthus House. The Farmer is a roomy 2 bedroom suite on the ground floor of the Acanthus building. This suite has a Queen bed in each bedroom, a full bath, gathering area and kitchenette. Many like to enjoy their morning coffee or afternoon beverage from the comfort of the communal front porch. A Smart TV and internet are available for guests to log-in to their preferred streaming services.

Guests will find that one block from Acanthus Suites will bring you into the heart of downtown Friday Harbor, offering many delicious restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, ice-cream shops and art galleries, all within walking distance. On Saturday mornings the local San Juan Island Farmer's Market is a 5 minute walk from the Acanthus Suites!

Any or all Acanthus Suites can be rented for different group sizes!

The Acanthus House is one of Friday Harbor's first important historic homes. Built in 1913, it was a wedding gift for a wealthy merchant's daughter. It has been beautifully restored. Located in historic downtown Friday Harbor; only 3 blocks from the ferry dock and Port of Friday Harbor and is an excellent option for those coming to explore the island and have a comfortable place to rest at night.

Wonderful spot in Friday Harbor

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, based on both the house and its excellent location and walking access to so much of Friday Harbor. The space has historic interest, and is also well-organized, clean and with all the amenities. We would definitely stay again.

Cute little place!

The rooms and beds were comfortable. Nice big bathroom. There aren't any microwave dishes, just plates, bowls, etc. Apparently there's a toaster available on request. The only place that info is listed is on one of the photos. Unfortunately, we didn't find that until the day we were leaving. Otherwise, we had a great stay!

Great location. Kitchenette is tiny.

Rooms are nice and comfortable. One room needed black out curtains to block out the light. The kitchenette is really not for preparing any food, too tiny. Location is great, easy to walk to town.

Great Location

Blocks from the ferry, close to restaurants and coffee shops. The room was a bit too cold even with heaters but it did have enough blankets to keep us warm. Internet was a bit slow but it’s possible it was due to the high winds (early March).

Bedrooms were nice. Front room was a little quirky and tight. Banquet was not that comfortable. TV was size off a computer monitor! Kitchenet was lacking a toaster/toaster oven and counter space. Location was great, close to downtown Friday Harbor. I would still come back to this location.

Reviewer Comments: Honestly great location, but furniture was stylish but no comfortable, I distinctly remember signing up to pay less than I did for this site, and honestly I would not stay here again for the cost. I will look into staying at a local hotel for about $20-50 a night less.

Acanthus Farmer Suite, great location for your trip

The Acanthus Farmer suite is well set up with two bedrooms, a small kitchenette, and general room. The weather was warm while we were there, so we appreciated the fans in the unit. We did have some issues keeping the windows open for the fans to pull air, but managed to work around it. The beds were quite comfortable. The Acanthus Suites are in an excellent location. We were able to walk to all the restaurants and sights in Friday Harbor easily. The car was only used when we left Friday Harbor. The big front porch on the Acanthus Suites, was a big hit in the mornings and evenings.

We immediately were thrilled with the location and were able to walk to do many places each day. The house is the definition of charming - beautifully decorated, clean and included anything we need and more. The only suggestion I would have if asked is that lighting could be added along front walk and to parking area. I personally am currently a fall-risk due to eye surgeries, but I still feel lighting would add to the charm as well.

Minimal Kitchen, don’t plan on cooking

If you just need a place to sleep in a downtown location this is your place. Location is great and walkable to harbor and town. But a big disappointment in the kitchen having only a microwave & mini fridge, not even a toaster or containers to facilitate microwave cooking. For 4 people there’s no gathering area to relax or watch tv together, nor do the bedrooms have any tvs. The bathroom door doesn’t lock or even latch solidly, so uncomfortable wondering if my in-laws might walk in on me. We were excited to stay in a historic home, but the furnishings and decor didn’t make sense, completely missing an opportunity for a period home.

Friday Harbor Acanthus/Farmer Suite

The Farmer suite was a nice stay. We have had the pleasure of many VRBO's that have been very well appointed, so this one was a bit on the average side. One mirror only in the entire house, in the bathroom, made it difficult for 4 people to get ready at the same time. The other very weird thing is that there were only 2 windows in the entire place that opened. If you want a nice breeze when sleeping, either from a ceiling fan (there are none) or from an open window, this is not the place. The location is good, close to DT, and the beds nice, and the suite clean. We had to call the owners when arriving, and she was responsive and friendly. All in all, an OK stay, but not high on the list.

Everything from the communication to the cleanliness, size of the suite, location, amenities were all as advertised. We were extremely pleased with how much room we had. Having 2 bedrooms and a living / dining area was great! We loved how close we were to everything and the ability to walk almost anywhere. The property management company went above and beyond to make sure we knew when we could check in (it was actually ready early) and even called after we checked in to make sure everything was ok. They also emailed us discounts for whale watching and kayaking. This was by far the best management company we have dealt with. Thank you! We also enjoyed reading the history of the house and even though there are other suites on site, we never heard the other people. We can't wait to come back to the island and would definitely stay there again.
