About this property
Swallows Barn, set on a working farm in foothills of the Peak District
Swallows Barn was formerly a shippon for cows which has recently been renovated to a high specification. The cottage is set on a working sheep and beef farm surrounded by farm land, streams and the River Dane. Farm walks, picnics and fishing are a feature of your stay here - as well as enjoying lambs, calves and wildlife in the farm fields. The Cottages are conveniently located being close to the pretty market towns of Macclesfield, Congleton and Leek and the spa town of Buxton. They are also conveniently positioned for visits to a wealth of National Trust properties, the Roman City of Chester with its zoo and race course, and the vibrant cities of Manchester and Liverpool. Beautiful countryside and scenery is all around and for the walker, then Bosley Cloud, Macclesfield Forest, Teggs Nose, the Roaches and Hanging Stone are a must. Sailing, fishing, golfing, horse riding, mountain biking & cycling are all nearby. Jodrell Bank with its Lovell telescope is close by as is Alton Towers theme park. An 18th century brick built building, Swallows Barn has been sympathetically converted to create a light, warm, spacious and comfortable cottage with two en-suite bedrooms - to sleep four persons. Downstairs there is an open plan kitchen / living / dining area with oak beams, underfloor heating and a luxury wood burning stove. A fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher leads to a separate utility room with washer / drier, sink unit and a separate downstairs WC. The living area has a feature fireplace, comfortable seating and a 40" flat screen freeview TV with DVD player. Superfast fibre broadband is free to use. Books, games and information on local attractions are stored within the sideboard. The dining table seats four person albeit it will extend. A generous sized under-stairs cupboard is provided for useful storage space. The oak stairs lead to a small landing to the two en-suite bedrooms. One room has a double bed and the other has twin beds. Seating is provided outdoors and a garden.
The Peak District is within reach with its glorious scenery, villages, historic houses, and gardens. A visit to the Pavilion gardens and the Opera House in Buxton is a must when visiting this area. Chatsworth House - known as the 'Queen of the Peaks' is approximately one hours drive away. This area has something to suit everyone of every age and every interest.
