Lovely complex of 5 gites,10 acres- heated pool, games room, fishing lake.

Lovingly restored farm provides great family orientated accommodation. Stunning rural position surrounded by rolling fields and woods, with walks straight from the door yet all amenities close by.
Large 12m by 6m heated pool for relaxing by, paddling pool, children's play areaswith swings, games room, boules, badminton, table tennis, basketball, bikes. Our own private fishing lake. A short walk for the properties the 1 hectare fishing lake is well stocked with carp, roach, pike etc. A recent catch 18lbs carp!!! or the kids can have fun trying to catch the crayfish with the special net. All equipment and expertise can be provided by Richard.

Lidoire has been thoughtfully equipped with all mod cons. 2 bedrooms: one with super king-size bed (1m80), and second with 3 singles. Lounge with large flat-screen TV, English and French Channels, free internet, comfy sofas. New kitchen, dishwasher, and range cooker. Garden with loungers and egg swing seat, table, chairs and parasols with BBQ for alfresco dining and stunning views across the valley.
Part of complex of 5 gites, each has its own separate and private garden area, but you can make new friends at the pool and games room. It is a large property with lots of different areas to explore, quiet corners to get away from it all, reading spots in the dappled shade of the surrounding wild woods. Large trampoline and several swings and kiddie-friendly games.
Fun pizza evenings through summer, ( July and August Only)) using the restored log-fired bread oven where everyone gets together at the new communal covered terrace.
We are situated in the Northern Dordogne area of France, famous for its truffles and ducks. Halfway between the cities of Angouleme and Perigueux surrounded by beautiful rolling fields and woods
There are plenty of things to do in the local area such as canoeing, tree climbing, wine tours, chateau visits, markets, beach lakes, etc

A lot to see and experience if relaxing becomes too boring

We enjoied our stay very much. The host was very kind and available in case of questions. For children you have indoor activities (billard, air hockey, kicker...) and outdoor activities (pool, trampoline, slackline and a cute playground for infants...). Although sometimes ways were a bit longer we saw and visited a lot: Comic Museum in Angoulême, Brantôme, several caves (Villars, Grand Roc, Lascaux), Le Bugue (Aquarium, Préhistorique Labyrinthe, Jungle Golf), several castles (e.g. Pompadour). Hard to believe but true: Each time we asked our children (7 and 10 yrs) how they experienced the day they answered "It was great." Furthermore you have a lot of nature and green to relax or hike. It was an excellent stay.

Fantastic Family Home in a Beautiful Location

The property and site were accurately described. The Gite was clean and well cared for, I could find no fault in it. The owners Nicky and Richard, who live on site were both friendly and very knowledgeable about the area, they 'literally' have an open door policy when you want to talk to them. Nicky had clearly spent some time in creating her 'Trip advisor' beating local guide for restaurants and sites. I would unquestionably recommend this property to anyone, I have every intention of going back, but next time dragging my friends along to. I would really recommend visiting the towns of Bourdeilles, Brantome and Perigueux. For food Le Lavalette restaurant in the near by town. Further a field La Rochefoucauld Chateaux and the primates park La Signe. I never leave reviews, but felt so strongly about a great holiday and people I simply had to. Thankyou Richard and Nicky - best of luck to you both.

Fantastic place to stay

Very easy communication with Nicky and Richard who were super helpful the entire week of our stay as well (lovely children too)! We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay and our kids (5 & 7) loved all there was to do - beautiful pool, 2 separate football areas, table tennis, trampoline, totem tennis, playground, barn with pool, air hockey etc. Our kids had so much fun and were safe to wander off and play tennis tennis or go to the trampoline. Lovely clean gite and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. Lots of things to do in the local area and pretty towns to visit. We really loved our stay and I’d recommend it to all age groups.

Exactly what we were after, would highly recommend to families, large and small

Firstly Nikki and Richard are so friendly, helpful and we really appreciated how welcome they made us feel. Their son also was The apartment we were in was perfect for us - really clean, all and more the kitchen equipment we wanted, choice of bedding for warm/hotter nights. Private table and chairs and BBQ area just outside the door. UK channels on TV we great for an early rising toddler and good internet connection. The whole layout of the place seemed really well thought out to make you feel there are plenty of places to sit in privacy - sandpit and swing/slide under a shady tree but visible from pool and outdoor eating areas. The piece of land is big and there was amble to for toddler to be entertained for the whole day. The whole holiday felt really easy and laid back, I have already recommended it to friends and am sure we'll be back with a larger family party. Thank you for your hospitality Nikki & Richard and Ethan for giving loads of kind and patient attention to a toddler who is still telling me you are his friend! I already have recommeded

Charming gite with good facilities.

Nicky and Richard were very friendly and welcoming. The gite was charming with its exposed wooden beams. The log fire was amazing and warmed the gite very quickly as we stayed in December. I would recommend this gite especially in the summer with its big swimming and games room for the kids.

Rustic Gite with everything that you could possibly need in the kitchen. The pool was lovely & there was lots to do in the games room for our children(12&9). Lovely walks from the Gite & our dog was made to feel very welcome. Richard & Nicki were both helpful and friendly.Nicki was very helpful in organising a vet appointment for our dog before we came home. I could not recommend this lovely group of gites more-in fact our children are already pressurising us to rebook next year.

We just returned from our holiday, & I asked the family to vote, everyone said '5 stars'!!!

We have had the best time at Les Rivieres, we stayed in La Lidoire and found it had everything we needed, and was very comfortable and completely as described. Our children are 5 1/2 and 2 years and 10months, and it suited them well as the accommodation didn't have stairs and was on one level. Plenty of facilities to cook and to BBQ, and it was all clean and well looked after. Nicky and Richard were welcoming and made our holiday very enjoyable, and the kids loved messing around in the pool with their two children too, and they were very sweet and shared their own toys with Jacob, our youngest. Pizza night was fantastic, and everyone staying there got together. We visited the local caves, took the kids to the local parks and the surrounding villages were lovely. With young children the main aim was to relax, which we did, in the evenings it was very peaceful, and lots of fun in the day. We would definitely return in the future, and explore the area more as the children get older, such as the beach lakes. Definitely recommend!

Perfect in every way. Beautiful area of France

We had a perfect 2 week stay. The children loved playing in the games room and swimming in the pool. The weather was Devine so plenty of barbecues. The area is filled with things to do. Canoeing in Brantone, high rope swings, outdoor swimming pool with slides and many river beaches. Richard and Nicky are fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble from advice on places to go and resteraunts to try and arranging bikes in any size required. The gite was spacious and clean. It had everything you would need for a relaxing stay including sky tv. We even had a go at fishing in the lake but unfortunately none of us caught a fish on that occasion. We did get to see some deer who came for a drink in the lake which made up for no catch. The holiday was truly fantastic!!!

Ma soeur, mon frère et moi ainsi que nos familles,avons pour tradition de nous retrouver à l'occasion d'un long week-end dans un gite. Cette fois ci nous avons trouvé un gite à la hauteur des envies de tout les acteurs de notre famille. Piscine, salle de jeux, étang pour pêcher. ... Mais notre plus belle découverte sont les hôtes de ces lieux. Nicky, Richard et leurs enfants sont d'une telle gentillesse que nous avons tous ressentie un accueil chaleureux et amical. Ils ont l'envie de pourvoir à tous les besoins et un sens de la convivialité sans ingérence, on est reçu chez les amis. Nous avons partagé des moments festifs tel que les apéritifs, une soirée Chamalows, ce qui nous a permis de construire et d'apprendre de nos deux nationalités (Anglais et Français ). Nous sommes une famille de 13 personnes avec des enfants en bas âge et la Beuronne (notre gîte ) est faite pour tous. Une cuisine équipée et très fonctionnelle, une salle à manger immense, deux salons télévision et des espaces naturels avec une super terrasse couverte surplombant la piscine où nous avons passé tout nos repas. Que de fou rires. 😂 Le plus génial restant la literie qui est extrêmement confortable, bravo Nicky, des lits de 1m80,pile, poile,notre taille. Tout l'ensemble du gîte à été rénové avec goût, passion et l'envie de faire plaisir aux voyageurs. BRAVO À VOUS DEUX. A perfect holiday, A fantastic location

What a fabulous setup Nicky and Richard have at Les Riviers,You could not want for more, We really loved our time there and was sad to leave.In amongst the sightseeing and chilling i managed a bit of fishing at the lake that belongs to the property, Once Richard told us which end to fish i managed to catch 18 carp in a morning. We all, and particularly the children, had a great week at our Gite in the tiny hamlet of Nadaillac near the village of La Rochebeaucourt et Argentine. Our Gite, one of four on the property, was well furnished and clean with it’s own BBQ and patio furniture. During our week we canoed down the picturesque River Dronne to the village of Aubeterre, the children swam in the river: we went for a long bike ride (bikes provided) along beautiful country lanes, enjoyed a day at a lake with a lovely sandy beach; had a wonderful pizza evening cooking our own 'home made' pizzas in the owner’s wood fired oven and eating them with all the other guests on long trestle tables laid out on the ‘football pitch’, A great evening. The children just loved the place. There was a lovely pool (lots of loungers for Mom and Dad), a rabbit, a dog, chickens, lots of other children, games room (Table Tennis, pool etc) a mini football pitch and bikes to borrow. Woods and meadows to explore and a fishing lake nearby. So much for them to do. We, the adults that is, BBQ every evening, drank a little wine and relaxed. A very peaceful location but with plenty to do if you wished. I would highly recommend the property to families with young and active children. Bob

Fantastic facilities in beautiful location

My family and friends rented two gites in this "complex" of 4 gites which are in converted farm buildings. The Gites are clean, well maintained and are equipped with everything you'd need. The photos on the website do not capture how lovely the gites are. The grounds had plenty of facilities to please adults and children, infact many of our group did not leave the site for the entire week other than to buy supplies in the nearby town. The woods and fields behind the gites are beautiful and we saw wild deer a couple of times on walks there. If you do prefer to explore the local surrounds there are some very pretty towns in the area with plenty of activities such as canoeing available. We saw deer in the woods behind the gitesNicky and Richard were great, friendly and helpful hosts. We all liked it so much we have already booked all 4 gites next summer.

Les Rivieres: fabuluous break and hosts

Where to start?! As soon as we arrived and were greeted by Nicky (and a short time later by Richard) we knew that we'd made the right decision. Nicky and Richard have developed a fantastic setup at Les Rivieres that provides very comfortable and well equipped accommodation in a peaceful and relaxing location, and excellent facilities (including the great and enclosed pool, games barn,badminton area, bikes....). All in all, it offers really good value for money and has much to offer for all ages. Our gite was perfect for our group of 6/7 (the seventh for only part of our two week holiday) because it was spacious, had the option of an additional bedroom with separate living room, and also had a large and secluded garden area which provided a great spot to chill, barbecue or just sit and gaze at the bats, barn owls and stars in the evenings. This is difficult to type less than 10 days after returning to Autumnal UK! However, it was Nicky and Richard's (not forgetting Isobel and Ethan)approach as hosts that made such a difference. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always on hand to provide advice, make reservations for local restaurants or attractions, run a pizza evening (recommeded), provide a guided tour of the nearby troglodyte caves, visit the fishing lake and so on. In summary: great place in a great area with great hosts.

Wonderfully relaxing holidays at Les Rivieres

We cannot begin to praise Nicky & Rich enough for making Les Rivieres such a wonderful place to spend the summer holidays. This is the second time we have stayed here, and have already booked for a third time, which pays testiment to what a fantastic time we have here. We can honestly say that we have previously never spent more than one year holidaying in the same location, but Les Rivieres is so special it makes you want to keep coming back. Nicky & Rich are very friendly, welcoming hosts, who go out of their way to ensure guests are happy. They have an excellent knowlegde of the local area and places to visit, and will happily make reservations/bookings on your behalf. They are always on hand if required, yet still allow you the space to relax and enjoy your holiday. The facilities available are second to none - the pool is large enough to never feel crowded and is clean and well equipped with sun loungers and parasols. The games room provides ample activities to keep the children occupied, as well as there being swings, a trampoline and a badminton court in the grounds. Bikes of all sizes are available to borrow, with suggestions of where to cycle to. The well-stocked fishing lake is a real hit with our family, who have spent many an evening with Rich trying their luck to catch 'the big one'. The gites are very well equipped, and furnished to a high standard whilst still keeping the rustic feel of a converted farm building. We have always found the gites to be immaculately clean upon arrival, and want for nothing during our time there. During our stays, we have kayaked around Brantome, visited local caves with Rich as our guide, as well as Grottes de Villars, just a few km's away. The busy market at Riberac is well worth a visit. The lakes at St Estephe and Le Jemaye provide safe swimming out to a pontoon for diving, with free canoes available. The underground church at Auberterre is fascinating, as is the abandoned village of Oradour sur Glane, albeit rather sobering. Our children thoroughly enjoyed the Parc d'Aventure at Massignac, giving them the chance to climb high ropes up in the trees & whizz down zip wires at great speed. A smaller version at Soyeux was also an afternoon well spent. The velorail is great fun and something different. All in all it's a big 10 out of 10 to Nicky & Rich, who should be extremely proud of the properties and service they provide. We would (& have) recommended their properties to friends & family.

The area in which Les Rivieres is situated is unspoilt countryside with quiet roads to cycle on and little villages to visit. Our gite Le Martrieux was comfortably furnished and had plenty of room for 6 of us. The extra bedroom option downstairs was extremely useful. The bedrooms were all spacious and beds very comfortable. The gite had it's own garden which was well-tended and private. The cherry trees dripping with dark red fruit were a real bonus. The pool has a lovely open feel and is extremely clean plus it was big enough for a proper swim. There are lots of historical sites in the area which can be visited without driving too far. Angouleme has a great new museum. The canoeing from Brantome is highly recommended and very good value. Nicky and Richard were very helpful and welcoming but left us to ourselves which was nice. Richard took our son fishing which he really enjoyed. The lake is a quiet place to wander down to and the woods above the gites have deer and red squirrel which we saw. We would definitely return in the future when we can.

Why they chose this property

We are a young family and understand well that happy kids makes for a happy holiday. We have provided lots of extra games and toys for kids of all ages. Games room for evening tounaments of ping pong. Dressing up box. Wild flower maze with insect catchers. Try a spot of fishing in our own private lake. Welcoming, safe and child friendly atmostphere means many of our guests return year after year and are now our friends.

What makes this property unique

Just the noise of the birds and surrounded wonderfull unspoilt countryside. Great weather and lots for kids.
