100 year old Restored Cottage with modern comforts near Milledgeville Ga. & Lake
Located 7 miles from Georgia College and State University, and Georgia Military College, and 10 miles from Lake Sinclair, this old tenant house is part of a former farm on Fox Hill. The main house was built in circa 1873, during the Reconstruction. This cottage was moved in 2011 from a farm 14 miles away. We remolded and and modernized it, while keeping the original warm atmosphere. It sits 100 yards from the main house, with easy access. There is a galley kitchen with micro wave, toaster oven, refrigerator, keurig coffee maker, and sink. Two large cozy bedrooms provide additional atmosphere. The large shower and designer bathroom sink are added features. There is a sitting room adjacent to the kitchen area with television and DVD player, plus table for eating and games and relaxing and talking. . A favorite feature is the front porch that has a breeze most days, and a view of the main house, pastures and forest, and amazing views of the stars at night. Plenty of parking in large pasture for boats or trailers. You will have privacy and yet not far away from hosts.

The little cottage was absolutely perfect for our weekend getaway. The shower is an unexpected surprise & the bed/pillows were super comfortable. The property is so peaceful, we will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
This cottage was nice and quiet. Great location to get away but also close enough to restaurants if you wanted to go out. I enjoyed the privacy. Definitely would stay again if in the area.
We had a wonderful stay. Accommodations were clean and comfortable, and communication with excellent. The cottage was adorable. We highly recommend and will definitely stay again.
Really enjoyed the stay in this wonderful cottage, very clean and quiet. The owners are available if you need anything and quick to respond. I would definitely stay here again.
Property was in great location easy drive to town. Everything was as described. Great place to enjoy nature and a very friendly and accommodating host.
I want to say oh it’s horrible so no one books our little gem, but it’s too good to make that joke! David is a joy to deal with and the cabin is perfect! Can’t wait to stay again soon!!!!
We stayed here visiting our daughter for parents weekend at the college. The location was perfect and it was the coziest little cottage. The beds are so comfortable. The commutation with the owner was fantastic. I would highly recommend this cottage for a weekend stay. My daughter described it perfect…she said it reminds her of the cottage from the movie The Holiday.
We could not have been more please every thing look so good in house and around all furnishings were from the time period we will recommend to our friends
I had gone to visit my freshman daughter who was very homesick :( This was such a perfect place to stay. The cottage felt like little house on the prairie! The original walls and floors are amazing and the antique furniture makes it cozy and fun. You get the beauty and soul of the cottage, but with modern amenities (great climate control, great hot water and water pressure, super clean). The owners are very responsive and accommodating. It is only about 4.5 miles from GCSU West Campus. We will definitely stay here again!
This was a delightful experience. I loved the cottage and the solitude; it was wonderful to sit on the porch in the morning and evening, listening to the birds and watching the squirrels. The surprise gift of a mini-loaf of sweet bread was so delicious, and the eclectic furnishings were intriguing. I would love to come back.
The Fish Cottage is a very rustic, small cottage on a farm/farmette. Growing up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, my grandparents had a farm where I spent weeks with them in the summer. Our stay at Fish Cottage brought back all of those wonderful memories - except no crowing roosters in the morning!
Fish Cottage is a very quiet place to relax and unwind, but close enough to restaurants and town (I snuck in a trip to TJMaxx) that you can have the best of both worlds.
This Cottage will Beckon you to Come in & Enjoy the Charming Amenities, Cozy Beds, Nooks to sit and read, and a front porch with constant breezes and serene views. There are many well kept trails on the property. I Encourage You to experience "Fish Cottage", read the blue book in the blue room for the vision of it's restoration, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors from Sun Rise to Sunset! You won't be disappointed, David & Autumn are most gracious Hosts, eager to please... I most assuredly, will come back to visit, and Often!

Experience history...with all the modern conveniences!
What a truly unique experience! Staying in this restored tenant house, even with all of the modern conveniences, reminded us to count our blessings! We really enjoyed meeting David, the owner, and hearing him tell the story of how this cottage came to be on the plantation site. (Check out the photo album!) The original walls & floors & doors give you a sense of what it must have been like to live in it long ago. The décor is clean & comfy & takes you back to another time. If only the walls could talk! Thank you David & Autumn for a moving & memorable stay. Teresa & Steve
Owners are retired from healthcare and business careers. We enjoy our home built in 1873 which we restored in 2003. We moved the cottage from a farm 14 miles from here and restored it in 2011. It is 100 years old with very nice modern improvements, yet it retains the atmosphere of the tenant house that was home for a family for 80 years. We have 160 acres at the dead end of Fox Hill Rd.
Why they chose this property
This property was a crop and livestock farm in the 1800's. We have open pastures, pines and hardwoods, and describe it as an Island away from the frenzy. Most used word by guests to describe it is PEACEFUL.
What makes this property unique
