This lovely house was the perfect home for our family. First off, it is absolutely adorable. It was super easy to get in and out. It was very clean and very well stocked. We would absolutely stay here again if coming through Chattanooga. If there was anything I would change, it would be to extend our stay and spend more time in this home, exploring other areas of Chattanooga!
Just what we needed for our weekend visit with our daughter. Property was clean, well stocked, and great location. The host responded quickly and resolved a minor issue with the TV. Would definitely recommend.
Awesome! Love the creativity of this home and the homey neighborhood.
The home is more than adequate for a vacation. Quiet and yet a great location. Close to major sights! Loved it

A very well maintained house. They put a lot of thought and effort into remodeling this home for vacation rentals. It is also cleverly decorated, which adds to its charm. A great location in relation to all the Chattanooga tourist essentials and it sits in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. It’s in an old part of town but it seems to be trendy to live in this part of town, based on the number of young adults with children walking/exercising throughout the day. I would definitely rent here again! 3 adults/2 kids on my visit.
The Blue Gem lived up to our expectations and more. The house is just as cute in person as it is in the pictures. It was very clean and ready for our arrival. The beds are quite comfortable, and we all slept soundly. The neighborhood is adorable and a great place to walk. We took a few strolls on the Virginia Greenway, sometimes with the destination of coffee or a meal in St. Elmo. It's a five-minute walk to some hiking trails on Lookout Mt. The kitchen is truly well equipped for cooking. Oh, and I can't forget the backyard! It was a hot week, but we enjoyed the comfortable seating areas in the morning and evening.
In addition to all of this, communication with the owners was a breeze. They responded quickly and helpfully to any questions. I highly recommend the Blue Gem!
Came with our five children ages 17, 15, 13, and two littles under 2! We also brought our small doggie. The house is stunning and the neighborhood friendly. Had adequate space and amenities. It was situated in a community close to absolutely everything we wanted to see and do and right down the road from stores and shops and attractions. The host communicated when necessary and wasnt at all unreachable or too much. We had to leave a day early bc of the heat and I had misplaced an important item at a nearby attraction that impacted the rest of our trip. They absolutely understood that when I messaged them. Would definitely stay here again if we ever find ourselves in the area.
We had a party of 6 and the home accomadoted us very well! The loft area was perfect for the kids. The bedrooms are great! It's rare to find
comfortable beds in rentals but these beds were magnificent! The neighbors and neighborhood was superb!
The host was responsive and communicated throughout our stay just to see if we needed anything! Never have I had that happen! Check in and check out policies are clearly communicated.
The Blue Gem is on a quiet street in a family friendly neighborhood where people walk/jog/bicycle. Great park a short walk away, grocery store nearby and easy access to downtown. We enjoyed views of Lookout Mtn from the front porch swing and sitting area in backyard. The house is very clean and the handcrafted woodwork and art throughout are so cool! We had everything we needed here to make our long wknd stay comfortable. Katie was easily accessible had we needed anything. Hope to stay here again in the future!
We stayed for just a couple of nights, but it was the perfect spot for us. My three kids (ages 9-12) said it was their favorite vacation rental. We grilled meals, enjoyed the fire pit, rested well, and used it as a jumping off point for our adventures on Lookout Mountain and in Chattanooga. It was spacious and comfortable with lots of kitchen supplies! We will be recommending this stay and hope to come back soon!
Amazing location. The property was the best VRBO we have ever stayed in. Everything was super clean and comfortable. The kids loved the spiral staircase to the loft.
The neighborhood cats very very friendly and evening walks were perfect.
This was a perfect location for what we wanted for a long weekend getaway meeting up with my parents. The house is so cute with artsy touches which give it personality & help you to feel like you really got away from the norm yet was comfortable and cozy with all that you need.
Beautiful home nestled in the St Elmo historic district...clean & pristine at check-in...everything was comfy, cozy, restful & peaceful...the covered area in the back was an excellent place to chill out in the evening, by the firepit, or during the day while enjoying a book...
House was clean and exactly as listed; check in process was easy and there's a welcome binder for reminders of the process along with area recommendations. We have 2 littles and my mother stayed with us -- all had enough space. Kitchen & bathrooms were stocked, plenty of towels, and the outdoor space was lovely! We didn't need much but had to communicate with manager a bit and they were very kind. Only a couple cons -- the metal/iron staircase is a bit of a risk, but you just have to know what you're getting into. It's very narrow with the designs kind of sticking out (very easy to hurt yourself), and not easy to go up and down repetitively -- the 2 smaller beds were up there, which is also a tight space with an angled ceiling (my 4yo easily kept hitting his head so we had to adjust the mattress placement). But, we made it work and my kids were just old enough to handle it ok (6 & 4 - any younger and it would have been a major issue). The check out process was a little more than I'm used to, which makes me think this is a high frequency rental -- there were a lot of steps to do and I was afraid I wouldn't get them all right. I followed the instructions binder and the app notifications from the manager -- there are also instructions on the fridge but they must be outdated because it was inconsistent with the manager communication. Overall, great property, neighborhood and area, and management and would definitely stay again.
We had a wonderful time exploring the St Elmo neighborhood and Lookout Mtn. The house was convenient to all we needed. We especially loved being on the bike path that took us straight to shops/restaurants and the Incline Railway.
The house was warm and welcoming. The neighborhood it was in was a very peaceful area and great to walk around. We were also close to many of the attractions Chattanooga had to offer and we never had to drive far. If we visit Chattanooga again, this is the place we want to call home during our stay!

My husband and I have been involved with the resurgence of our neighborhood over the past 15 years and are now eager to share it with new people. We love VRBO and are excited about creating new spaces to show off our neighborhood. We enjoy working with local artists and creating spaces for them to flourish, this is our passion. We have two rambunctious and adventurous children that keep us on our toes and feeling young!
Why they chose this property
Enjoy the neighborhood park, the abundant hiking trails that lead to waterfalls and majestic Tennessee views. St Elmo is teaming with locally owned and operated businesses. Our own neighborhood pub, Moccasin Bend Brewing Company, where you can meet the locals or take home a growler (you can also bring your dogs). Visit Mojo Burrito, delicious food in a hip environment, 1885 Restaurant for a more upscale dining experience, don't miss out on their incredible fresh water trout blackened or grilled, or St. Elmo's own Purple Daisy and dine on a BBQ sandwich. St. Elmo Deli will provide you with the perfect lunch on the run. Don't forget Mr.T's Pizza and hand scooped ice cream that has been in the neighborhood for over 20 years!!!! The choices are endless!
What makes this property unique
We can point you in the direction of almost anything that you would like to enjoy in Chattanooga. See seven states from Rock City, visit the nation's largest and deepest underground waterfall at Ruby Falls, take a short ride on the Incline Railway to ascend and descend Lookout Mt, where you have access to amazing views from the top of Lookout Mountain from Point Park, or visit Sunset Rock. We are a mere 5 miles from downtown Chattanooga. Enjoy the river front at Ross's landing on the banks of the Tennessee River, visit the Tennessee Aquarium, and walk right down Broad St and enjoy a Moon Pie! How would you like to see the Hunter Museum or take a walk across the nation's longest pedestrian bridge to Coolidge park in North Chattanooga? There are many locally owned businesses and also some familiar favorites. The list is endless!! (That's just getting to see Chattanooga as a tourist!)
