The cottage was lovely. Lots of traditional features yet modern and comfortable too.
Overall the holiday was fantastic. Perfect location for walks from the cottage or trips out to Ullswater, Aira Force etc. Penrith is the local shopping centre with lots of lovely gift shops as well as supermarkets. Sue provided lots more details of things to do in an extensive information pack. I would definitely recommend Talbot House.

Gorgeous cottage beautifully appointed and perfectly situated to explore the Lakes.
We had a great few days at Talbot cottage. The house was spotlessly clean and very welcoming. Sue was lovely and helpful. There was milk in the fridge and water by the beds which was a lovely touch. The house had an excellent collection of crockery and glasses so not too much washing up! (there's a dishwasher anyway!). We were very lucky and had 3 days of gorgeous weather. Helton is a tiny village but Askham is only a mile away and has a shop and 2 pubs. The people are really friendly. You do need a car but everywhere is really accessible. There is only one bathroom/toilet but the shower is fantastic! There's a lovely open fire place and you are very welcome to make a fire. There is absolutely no phone reception in the area but the house has free wifi. We went with our 3 teenage kids and had a fab time. We would highly recommend it.
We really enjoyed spending Christmas at Talbot House. The house was cosy and welcoming and well equipped with everything we needed. It is in an excellent location for walks, with lovely walks from the house without needing to take the car. We enjoyed visiting nearby Penrith which has excellent shopping facilities.

A great long weekend in the lakes!
Our family of 5 easily fitted into this lovely cottage. Parking right outside, and everything you could want for inside. We stayed 3 nights, which worked very well. Lots of hot water and wifi for our teenage daughters to use :).
Location wise this worked well for us. We had friends in Glenridding, which we thought might be a bit of a distance away. as it happens we all met in Pooley Bridge for dinners and excursions. We did walking and boat rides very easily from the cottage.
And it was big enough to have our friends, so 10 in total, over for pizza!
Thank you.

Great house with everything you could ever need.
My daughter and I stayed here with our 2 Golden Retrievers for a week. We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is spacious, spotless and has everything you need. I really appreciated the bottles of water and glass in each bedroom and the fresh flowers in the living room were a lovely touch. There are good pubs within walking distance which serve very good food and a lot of the tourist towns are only a short drive away. Would definitely recommend Talbot House.

Lovely cottage
Family of 5 plus dog. We had a lovely holiday. The cottage was very clean and tidy, with fresh flowers and a bottle of wine on arrival. All the facilities you would need on a holiday and everything straight forward to use. Pretty village location and about further 20 minute walk to Askham to great pub (Punchbowl) served very good food at reasonable price. Shop and gallery there too. Highly recommend.

Perfectly adequate holiday cottage
Talbot House was a perfectly adequate holiday let and met all our needs. We had two dogs with us, and they really enjoyed the location. The walk to Pooley bridge straight from the cottage is a real pleasure for dog walkers. The pub is a good walk away and not particularly safe on the road but an alternative route via the fields was lovely. The pub was welcoming and food was ok.
The house itself was spotlessly clean - the real fire a must in February! The fixtures and fittings typical of a holiday let (kitchen and bathroom basic).
If i am honest i would not choose this property again as you really do need a car, it is not in a village, just in the middle of lots of houses with no shop or pub. However with the car, you can access lots of the beautiful lake district - be prepared to drive a lot!

A lovely stay
A very warm and confortable stay, the layout of the accommodation worked really well for us, a family of 5. Very comfy beds with lovely bed linen.
Great to be able to have our dog with us.
Parking a little tricky directly outside as we have a big car and in the dark, struggled a little to pull it in tight enough.
Open fire a highlight and use of drier, washing machine would be invaluable if we stayed longer.
Little touches like providing dish washer tabs, water by bed, bottle of wine, was lovely and made it a 5 star stay for us.
Thankyou Sue, and thanks for popping round during our stay to check all was fine.

Talbot Studio - Lovely!
Very comfortable, warm and conveniently situated apartment. This was our second visit and we'll use the apartment again as Helton is a quiet but delightful part of the Lakes and the accommodation is spot on for a couple. The owners were very prompt to respond to any requests we made (i.e. could we stay an extra night!!)
