Exeter base
We wanted to explore Devon and would have preferred a quiet country location to do so. However none were available for our dates so we took the plunge on a city centre base. The location is ideal with easy walking access to both the city and car access to the main road routes south and east. The property itself was disappointing in that although spacious, was fairly spartan. The lack of manuals /guides etc on how to operate equipment was surprising. There were issues on plumbing, lighting and damp. The main problem in these times though was it is located in the grounds of a large pub frequented by hoardes of students - not ideal for those who want to feel safe

Why they chose this property

Exeter is fast becoming one of Devon’s most popular destinations, and with so much going on, it’s easy to see why. As it’s a University town, there’s obviously plenty to keep students of all ages happy. Small wonder, then, that no less than 20 new restaurants have opened in the last two years alone.

Being located above The Imperial public house, a building with a history that’s well worth Googling, you’ll have food, drink, entertainment and the venue’s gardens literally on your doorstep.

When you’re ready to venture further afield, you’ll discover Exeter City Centre is just a 5 minute walk away. And what a variety of things there are to do there. Shopping, eating, drinking, walking in parks, of course. But also water-based entertainment like canoeing. How many other city centres offer that?

If you’re here to work, then Exeter’s business district is within walking distance, as is the college and Exeter University for those of you with study to do.

What makes this property unique

Staying somewhere so central, you might expect parking to be a problem. Not so. 2 parking spaces come with the apartment for a £8 per day, per car. Space for 2 cars if needed.

But chances are, once you get here, you’ll be able to get everywhere you need to on foot, or by bike or bus. But it’s always handy to have a car to call on should you be planning to explore more of Devon’s delights, like the beach (just a 25 minute drive away) or Dartmoor (30 mins by car).

And if you’re arriving or departing by train, Exeter St. David’s station is just a 2 minute walk away. Talk about convenient!
