Kihei Maui

Kihei is great if you want to swim or snorkel. At least 8 good snorkel spots within 10 min drive.

Great location!

Have stayed in several different properties in Kiehi, this one by far had the best view from the balcony! The unit could have been cleaned better prior to our arrival, but nothing that you cannot live with. We only visited the lower pool (2 pools on property) and it was great! Location is great, able to walk just about anywhere in Kiehi if you don't feel like driving. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Location

Great location right across from the beach. Generally decent condo however a few amenities were lacking. Beach chairs and toys were provided as promised however they could use refreshing (especially the chairs). Some of the towels weren’t as clean and we ran out of toiletries provided pretty quick. Overall we had everything we needed to have a delightful stay in Maui!

Kihei Akahi and Maui Rental Group were great!

We enjoyed the condo, the pool, the beach, the outdoor gas grill, our lanai, all of it. Maui Rental Group was very responsive when the ice maker wasn't working. We were a little confused by the 11 page rental contract we received from V Trips as VRBO had listed Maui Rental Group as the property manager...but once we learned that the e mail with the contract from V Trips was legitimate, it made more sense. This was the first of dozens of condo rentals for us where the rental contract was so lengthy, detailed and dense.

We had stayed at a condo down the street with friends for the first few days, so when we checked into this Akahi unit we were pleasantly surprised by how much nicer and cleaner it was! It was very comfortable for 3 people, we especially liked that the unit has it's own washer and dryer. Check-in and out was very easy, we had a quick question and the Maui Condo staff answered immediately. We will definitely be back soon, thank you!!

Misleading property

This property is not as advertised. Very dirty and run down. As other reviews suggested, the front door lock works about 30% of the time. Once we were given the right code (the one that was emailed for check in didn't work at all), we discovered that the door lock is broken and only engages sometimes. If that was the only issue, this place would have been fine. But the bed. Oh my. The bed. It is literally broken. The springs on one side are obviously destroyed from... significant weight. This made sleeping extremely uncomfortable. The kitchen was fine and shower was actually large and nice. The Lanai was not great. Sliding door is clearly broken and is very difficult to open. Not to mention it is super loud. Patio furniture needs replaced. One chair is broken and both seat pads are torn up, but hidden with newer pads placed on top. Overall, I'd argue this property isn't fit to be rented until the major issues are fixed.

Great location, bad bed

This condo is in a great location and well stocked. It is false advertising to claim it sleeps 4. No one could sleep on the hide-abed, the mattress has springs sticking out of it. We piled up all the extra towels over the mattress the 1st night, then the rental company brought us an air mattress. For what I paid for the week, half if my group shouldn't be sleeping on the floor on an air mattress. I will agree with previous reviews that the floor in the condo was dirty. And there is no AC in the bedroom, no window that can be opened. A ceiling fan made it stuffy but doable in the winter, but it might be unpleasant in warmer months. The pool and property are well maintained and the view from the balcony is great. Just replace the hide-a-bed matress.

It has good location

The front door digital lock does not work properly, it’s a hit or miss while trying to open door with the code. It needs to be fixed. It would take me 3-4 tries before door opened. The other issue was that there was a coffee pan with fungus in it, when I arrived on the property

Nice unit

This was a very comfortable unit. It well represented the listing and we enjoyed our 12 days here. The property is kept up so well and much attention to detail. Our only suggestion would be to upgrade the beach chairs, but we were glad yo have them. The retal group was responsive and helpful on a couple of questions. You will have a nice time here!

This unit looks exactly as advertised and has an excellent partial ocean view from its fifth floor balcony. It's got great updated style with fully functioning appliances - full size fridge, quiet dishwasher, laundry machines, air conditioning, tv. Shower worked great, and the bedroom is dark and quiet. We were surprised by some of the amenities, including boogie boards, sun umbrella, beach towels, picnic lunch coolers, water bottles, beach toys, and all the kitchenware. Cooking was easy with all that's there. The elevator was great. Kamaole II is directly across the street. And a couple blocks away, S and Q quickly became our favorite coffee, muffin, milkshake stand. Easy walking access to shops, restaurants, beaches, sun. The grounds of this place are nicely maintained, parking is assigned, there is unobtrusive security, pool and tennis court access is included. The onsite manager was friendly and helpful. We loved this place and would gladly try to book it again.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall we liked the condo, with a few exceptions. Firstly the air conditioner on a timer was annoying. The whole idea was to return to a cool condo after a hot day. Secondly, the bedroom was uncomfortable hot. Even with the ceiling fan on. Trade winds were helpful during the day but not at night. We would prefer to have A/C in the bedroom and not the living room. Was only left 3 dishwasher cleaning tabs. Seems cheap. Why should I go out and buy a box of 40 to only use 10. Would like more pls. Same a plastic garbage bags. Extra would have been nice. Lastly the bed was too small. Says its a queen but I would argue that one. Seem more like a double. I would have preferred a king bed. Overall the condo was nice. Loved the washer/dryer. Was stocked with dishes well. Was clean. Great value. But the lack of A/C in the bedroom is a deal breaker on this unit. For this reason we would not stay in C-513 again, but would stay in Kihei Akahi again if we could find A/C in the bedroom.

Thank you for the review. The A/C is on a timer for a deliberate reason -- leaving it on all day so you can return to a cool condo is wasteful and expensive. Maui has the highest electricity rates in the nation, and doing what you've described daily would result in electricity bills of nearly one thousand dollars each month. The timers can be reset as often as needed during your stay -- to keep you comfortable -- but we do not want to cool a condo that is sitting vacant all day. To our knowledge, due to the location of the bedroom windows, bedroom A/C is not allowed at Kihei Akahi. We would instead recommend utilizing the windows in the front and rear of the condo, as well as the security screen door and fans, to circulate air in the evening. The proximity of this condo to the ocean results in night time temperatures between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit throughout most of the year. As described in your confirmation, we provide starter supplies for all soft-good amenities, including but not limited to: bathroom soaps, shampoos, toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher tabs, laundry detergents, garbage bags, and coffee. These amenities are only provided to hold you over for your first few days, but as with any vacation home, additional supplies may need to be purchased for an extended stay (yours was over two weeks). In an effort to avoid confusion, the list of items we provide can be found in the packing list that was sent to you on the day your reservation was made. Lastly, this bed is a queen bed, as purchased in 2015 from the Maui Bed Store, and fits perfectly in our queen frame. I'm sorry that you wished it would have been a king, but it is as advertised. In the future, you may wish to book one of our homes that advertises a king bed, if that is your preference. We wish you all the best in your search for a rental in the future. Be sure to contact our on island reservations agents if you have specific criteria that need to be met to ensure satisfaction.

We were provided with everything we needed and more from the well stocked kitchen to the lovely surprise of a few beach necessities! The owners are great hosts and made everything very simple so that we were worry free for our entire stay. We had zero issues. I would absolutely stay in this condo again. And Maui was freakin' AWESOME!

The location of the property was perfect for us, across from the beach and close to a lot so we could walk. Stores, restaurants, etc. Plus we had friends staying down the street so that was a plus! The unit was nice and updated, and had everything we needed... including boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrella. Would stay here again.

Kihei Akahi has a fabulous location with a wonderful beach just down the driveway and across the street. It was like having our own private beach! We got a great cross-breeze through the condo, so never had to use the air conditioning during our stay. Loved it!
