About this property
Modern Villa with Magnificent Sea and Mountain Views.
The property is a Modern Spanish style house built on 3 levels and exists within a small secure gated community which boasts lovely gardens and a large community pool. The property built in 2003 has been updated and refreshed November 2021.
At the side of the property is owners private parking. on the car port. Entering the property on the top floor, there is an entrance hall, WC, modern American style kitchen and large lounge. The front of the lounge is fully glazed patio doors opening onto a terrace with seating and occasional table.
The second level down has 3 double bedrooms all with air conditioning and ceiling fans for summer comfort. The Master bedroom has a super-king size bed, en suite and dressing room. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed and the Bedroom 3 has standard double bed. All bedrooms have patio doors which open onto a part covered terrace and have views of the bay and mountains. The floors throughout the house are marble.
The third level, the ground floor, is the Owners Apartment. The Apartment is reached by an outside staircase. We are a maturing couple, keen on sport and travel. We have a small, friendly dog, called Teddy.
The property nestles on the side of Cero Gordo hill at 145m above sea level with views of the spectacular horse shoe bay and the surrounding mountains. The house stands next to Cerro Gordo Natural Park and the Cabra Montas (Mountain Goats) can often been seen wandering through the Pueblo or sitting on the rocks next to the house.
The lounge and bedrooms all face the bay and the mountains and enjoy the early morning sun as it comes up over the Punta dela Mona which is at the opposite end of the bay to Cerro Gordo.
The lounge terrace is ideal for day dreaming, as you watch the fishing boats near the bay, the sailing boats and cruisers and commercial shipping on the horizon. If you sit there long enough may be fortunate enough to watch the dolphins that sometimes come to play in the bay; the terns diving from great heights to catch fish; the birds of prey hovering. looking for their next meal.
As the day progresses you can watch the surfers, wind-surfers, dingy sailors, dive boats, kayaks and para-gliders all enjoying their sports in the waters and air of the bay.... or you could join them. The bay is the center for Diving in the area and offers tasters and professional courses(PADI). The bay offers some of the best diving along the whole Spanish coast, with its underwater caves and unique seabed which is a protected coastal area.
La Herradura has now re-opened the Castillio as a museum. The Civic Center contains an English Library and has exhibitions of local Art , fitness programmes and other cultural events.
Almunecar has many of the original charms of a Spanish Village. The town is overlooked by its Castle which is high above the town on the rocks above the sea making it secure against the invaders. The Castle is open to the public and has 2 museums, one in the castle and one housed in a cave type setting a few hundred meters away. The castle grounds below show the remains of a fishery and the park is now a festival of trees. Also in this area are the Bird Park and the Aquarium which has many species of local fish and includes a glass walk way under and through the Sharks and Rays.
Nerja is a mix of modern and old offering many restaurants and bars. The center point of activity is either the Balcon de Europa which extends out to sea giving views of the coastline to both the east and west or Tuti Fruti Square if you are looking for nightlife.
Nerja boasts one of the top 10 attractions in Spain - The Caves of Nerja which has the thickest stalagmite column in Europe. The caves, history center and restaurant are well worth a visit. The Coastline for Andalucia has many Torres (towers) and Castles (Almunecar and Salobrena, local).
Away from the coast and within an hours drive are many attractions. The Alhambra was built in 1492 and is linked with the geographical place where it is located: Granada. On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose.
If you like mountains and food the visit the Alpujarras with its craft villages and Trevelez, the center of the Spanish Jamon Industry. The Sierra Nevada is spectacular area with the Sol y Nieve (Sun and Snow) area offering tourists a place for outdoor activities in either summer or winter at a height of 2500 meters. Look up at Mulhacen the highest mountain in mainland Spain at 3482 meters (11424 ft.)
