Historic Cotswold stone cottage. Grade II listed, thought to have been built around 1600. This cosy cottage, located in a village in its own hidden valley, is a perfect hideaway. Lots of walks, a fantastic country pub (that serves great food) 2 minutes' walk away. But the centres of Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on the-Water just 3 miles away. Naunton Downs golf course 5 minutes' drive away allows day guest membership. Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm park - great for kids, 10 minutes' drive away. Original beams, working wood log fireplace (and central heating!), windows, even an original floor provides a unique atmosphere. The beds are normally arranged as a super king and two singles, IF YOU NEED A DIFFERENT ARRANGEMENT WE NEED A WEEK'S NOTICE.

This cottage is beautiful. It is close to Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water. The Black Horse pub is great and a 1 minute walk away. Naunton is quaint and very quiet. We enjoyed everything about our visit.
We loved our stay here! The cottage was just lovely. The town is sweet, with great walks along the small river and through the lovely streets. Nice and close to the pub where we found lots of friendly locals who were up for a chat with us Aussies. Marks communication was great. Our only concern when booking was the parking, but this soon proved to be a non-issue with plenty of convenient parking on the street right out the front.
We loved our 2 night stay in Naunton. The house was charming and very comfortable with everything we needed. Mark and Lorraine were very responsive to messages and check in was easy. Thanks for a great stay.
This was a lovely little place and very clean and tidy. There are stairs so can be tricky if you have large heavy luggage. Excellent facilities and the pub close by had delicious food.
Met fantastic expectations. Away from the hustle and bustle within the Cotswolds, yet close enough to visit the AONB. Great neighbors and neighborhood. Beds were comfortable. View was charming.
We loven our stay and lovend the quiet village of Naunton. Easy check in and accurate representatie of the place.Good ends and sufficient kitchen supplies. The garden not attached directly to the cottage makes it a bit of a walk with glasses and plates etc when you like to eat outside. And passing the neighbours outdoor mess is not a bit dissapointing. Overall a very nice stay
Very clean with comfy bed. Location was central to sites we visited but next time would rather stay in a bigger village to have more access to restaurants (I couldn’t drink with dinner as I was the driver). Definitely recommend The Cotswolds Guy and the Old Post Office for breakfast which is 10-15 minutes via car. The Black Horse inn Pub is just a few houses down from the cottage but we didn’t eat there. Had drinks but it was virtually empty. Cottage was as described but was surprised to see the main bathroom shower wasn’t available so had to share the small shower upstairs. It worked out but would have been nice to know in advance or be offered some sort of concession. All that said, aside from larger village vibe, I would recommend 3 Sunny Cottages.
We enjoyed our stay and experiencing true Cotswold living! The cottage is comfortable with deep history. The garden was lovely. It was early spring, so lots of flowers in bloom. The stairway inside is a little narrow (watch your head going up to the third floor!) but the rooms were comfortable and clean. The host, Mark, provides a ton of information about the area and places to see. All around, it was a great place!
Very nice little place and a great village. We loved walking around the area and eating at the pub nearby. Easy check in and check out for this fun old cottage.
Just a storybook area to visit . The host left us many clear instructions and tips to familiarize ourselves to make our visit even more perfect. Fully equipped cottage with a warm and authentic snug.
The property was spotless on arrival, well equipped and full of nice surprises. The local pub is no more than five minutes away and serves excellent food. Overall a most enjoyable stay.

Relaxing break
The property was lovely with lots of little extras, which made us feel welcome. Practical layout for four adults, although another higher armchair instead of the little chair would have been great. The garden was delightful and added to our stay. Better directions to find the property, which was set back, would have saved us 30 mins after a long drive.
A great place to stay in a very friendly village.
The local pub the Black horse serves beautiful food and we highly recommend it.
The cottage itself offered everything we needed and was Clean, warm and well appointed,. We would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area. We would certainly return again in the future.
Lovely quaint little cottage, great location, people very friendly in the village.
Only one very small criticism, if you are trying to cook a roast dinner eg:- Christmas lunch, there was only one small roasting tin, not really big enough for the turkey and all the trimmings. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back in the near future.
Truly get the feeling of whats its like living in a small cotwolds village. Very comfortable! Mark, you do need a new can opener. Thanks for a wonderful experience
It was a little difficult to find the home and the parking on the street can be challenging There were 3 of us with associated luggage We were in Europe for 2 months so did have large bags The home was very well appointed The kitchen area was very nice basic cooking oil/spices etc There is no grocer in town so make sure you bring food The pub was about 1/2 block away and had good food and a nice outside area This was a good home base to tour the Cotswolds I especially recommend a tour of Sudeley Castle the last home and burial site of Queen Catherine Parr The stairs are very step and curved but our granddaughter had no issues climbing to the 3rd floor I would definitely recommend this home
We spent a month in Naunton which is a lovely small village with a very friendly, handy pub just along from the cottage, and perfect for anyone wanting to be off the beaten track - less than 15 minute drive to either Stow or Bourton. The cottage was quite comfortable although we would have appreciated a maintenance check beforehand as we did encounter a few issues, and, for such a long stay, we would have expected some spare linens or housekeeping coming to change sheets. The garden is quite separate from the house and there is no off-street parking.

2 week stay June 2025
This Cotswolds cottage is desperately in need of some love & attention. The front garden is overgrown and the “large garden” which is NOT directly behind the cottage but 2 doors down was a complete disaster. Overgrown with long grass and weeds. We could not get to the wood fire BBQ at the back of the garden as we could not safely see where we were walking. On our last day someone came to power wash an area that had paving slabs that had not even been visible. No instructions provided for the appliances Lacking kitchen equipmentThe host will let you know beforehand that the fridge and freezer doors do not always close tightly The main bathroom needs an extractor fan as the small window is not adequate to stop condensation running down the walls after a shower Both bathroom doors are warped and don’t close properly for privacyThe main bathroom toilet has a major issue as when you flush the mechanism lifts the tank lid. You have to force the handle down into place which creates a huge noise as the lid settles back into place. Beds were comfortable with very basic bedding. The video shows cushions and runners on the bed. Missing on our visit and pictures were on the floor & not the wall!As frequent VRBO users this is actually the first property that was not as described. The location was what saved the day for us.
The unit has old time charm. The living room has low ceilings giving a very snug feel and provided enough seating for the four of us. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the necessary plates, pots, coffee maker, etc. We appreciated the use of the clothes washers. Both bedrooms had adequate space and comfortable beds. The top floor bathroom was a bit tight, but was functional. The kitchen and both bedrooms require walking up steps, not a problem for us but the bedroom stairs are a bit steep.
It was very quiet, with friendly neighbors. The garden area was a nice place to sit and relax.
The village is picturesque and quiet. We enjoyed the ability to walk down to the local pub for a pint or a meal (about 3 minute walk).
Overall, we found the unit to meet all of our needs with everything in good working order.

About the host
Hosted by Mark Fox
When my kids were small we got fed up of low quality self catering that seemed to cost the earth. So we bought our own place in 2000 and have been expanding ever since - a lot of our guests visit again and again. We still regularly stay in all our places to be sure that they are good enough for us to enjoy, not just rentals.
Why they chose this property
This cottage is a cliche of an English country cottage. Everything about it is exactly what you would expect starting with the atmosphere of the big fireplace and deep windows. But it is also the lovely garden and gorgeous views that make it special... not to mention the great pub just a couple of minutes' walk away!
What makes this property unique
Many small cottages have a "cottage garden" - small. This one has a huge garden for kids to play in, or enjoy the terrace for meals (outdoor table and chairs provided) and use the brick Barb-B-Q with a proper chimney. All the beams and the stone ground floor is original from 1600. This cottage hasn't been over-restored, All modern conveniences have been built into what is there, nothing original has been ripped out.
