The Holtheim Hideaway is tucked away in a quiet, uber private location; but, still just minutes away the Hidden Valley Resort entrance. The home itself is nestled between two natural spring fed streams, with large boulders, beech, hemlock and oak trees! A spectacular property just waited to be enjoyed by the busy family or professional couple looking to escape the hustle and bustle (and pressures) of city living! Make it your personal getaway!

Minutes away from both Seven Springs and Hidden Valley. THIS PROPERTY IS LOCATED AT APPROXIMATELY 2800 FEET ELEVATION. YEAR ROUND WE RECOMMEND 4WD/AWD VEHICLES. IN THE WINTER, WE DO PLOW; HOWEVER, GUESTS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY HAVE A 4WD/AWD VEHICLE TO STAY HERE FROM NOV 1-MARCH 31!

Though this property is not quite "off grid" even during April 1 to October 31, it is a good idea to have a AWD/4WD vehicle. Great privacy but could be considered "remote" by some folks.

Please NOTE to AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT: This home will put you close to nature, there are frequent animals close to the home. The home is under pest/rodent treatment; but, you will see all types of bugs, chipmunks, mice, flying squirrels at the home. At one point, this home has had each inside the home. Raccoons, deer and bear are relatively common close to the house; so, outside garbage/food should always be secured. If this is NOT an experience as a guest that you would like to have, we would recommend you NOT booking this home.

Still located close enough to enjoy Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob, Yough Lake, Confluence and Ohiopyle area!

Security:

For the safety or our guests and the protection of the property against criminal activity, all guests understand that, at a minimum, there is a “Blink” security camera type located at the front and rear entrance of the cabin to monitor access/egress and driveway areas. Security cameras are in use 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

Guests should not remove, disturb, modify or damage any part of the onsite security system. IF this occurs it will result in the loss of security deposit or added charges, which ever applies.

Wonderful couple weekend location.

Adorable property in a quiet and relaxing setting. We loved every minute of our stay. Only issue is zone 2 of the hot tub seems to not be working.

Great getaway place for the family

Wonderful place in the woods for your family or a couples retreat. My husband really enjoyed the hiking around the property as well. The hot tub was a fantastic treat after a day of skiing (multiple options at great places close by). We will definitely be back in the future as we prefer the quiet, privacy to the busy lodge.

Quiet, Serene, Clean Cabin

The location of this cabin would be ideal in both Summer and Winter. Beautiful wooded lot, with a stream. Close to both Hidden Valley and Seven Springs for skiing. Hot tub was an added bonus!

New Years Getaway

We loved this cabin. Location was nice and quiet. We didn’t hear any others the whole time we were there. Hot tub was great - especially when we had a little snow. I loved the shabby chic decor. We would definitely recommend for a nice little get away.

Love the new look!

This was our 4th or 5th stay at this property and we were pleasantly surprised to see lovely new furniture and a cohesive new setup! (The listing photos are accurate - I just didn’t look that closely, whoops.) The cabin is always clean and comfortable, great secluded location but easy access to parks and the PA Turnpike. Can’t wait for our next visit.

A perfect get away

The atmosphere of Holtheim hideaway is peaceful. The cabin was clean and provided almost every amenity you would need. Full kitchen, kitchen ware, blender, toaster oven, Kurieg, coffee pot.. hot tub was large and views are to die for. We had to reach out to the management of the property due to a fallen tree on the road leading to the property and his response was timely and impressive. If you want an escape from everyday chaos- this is the place for you!!

Wow, what a location!

Peaceful. Beautiful. Just all around quiet, and a lovely little piece of Pennsylvania. An amazing get away, and an awesome maintenance man! Cozy, and quaint! Perfect for relaxing! Must have 4 wheel drive, as its off a beaten path in the middle of no where. It felt like my Suburban was going rock climbing, haha. My husband, and I had a blast just hanging out in the wilderness. I will definitely return in the Spring, or maybe early November this year before the snow! Thank you so much for such an elegant/fancy stay!

Beautiful

The surroundings of the property were beautiful with the woods and streams nearby. There are other properties nearby but far enough away for privacy and quiet. The fire pit and hot tub were both very nice additions and my wife and I used both. A good place for a quiet getaway and the property is only 25 minutes from Somerset. Internet service is very slow if you want to check weather or local attractions on your phone or laptop and the TV service was also frequently choppy as well. Property owners do provide some DVDS however if you're inside due to the rain or just want to chill. Overall a cute place to stay for a quiet weekend.

Great Mountain Hideaway

We had a wonderful time at this rustic little spot nearly off the grid. We enjoyed being away from it all but still able to cook a meal, sleep in a super comfy bed and enjoy a dip in the hot tub in the snow under the stars. We spent a long weekend here because we wanted to get to Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob and on our way home... a visit to the Flight 93 Memorial. All great spots. You’ll enjoy this spot! Thanks for a great stay!! A few modest suggestions: - a few pot lids/ pot screen cover would be useful for cooking, making less mess -a new sofa in front of the fireplace— the current one is pretty worn and the replacement cushions make it hard to sit on -a couple more table lamps and throw rugs since the floor can be so cold and it’s nice to not have to use only overhead lights -a bit more documentation in the cabin: how to turn on/off the fireplace, what the knobs do in the hot tub, updated WiFi info in the framed documentation on the wall

Everything was excellent……..except

The location was great, the house was great, the hot tub was great. The only problem was that there was no hot water in the shower. There was hot water in both sinks but not in the shower, lukewarm at best. We contacted the property manager the next day. He said he “would talk to the boss man” and let us know. We never heard from anyone. We’d like to book future stays here but not if we can’t confirm that we can take hot showers.

Hidden Gem

This house even better than advertised! We stayed the weekend with our two dogs and had a great time! The house sits in between multiple streams giving a panoramic view of mountain beauty. There were waterfalls all around us an adorable pond in the front of the house. The decor is updated and tasteful. The gas fireplace is a an excellent touch. The hot tub is newer and very clean. The Smart television is new and there is also a DVD player with a selection of DVD’s. The hosts were helpful and accommodated a late check out. Thank you! We arrived during a heavy rain and had some trouble in the driveway. Stay away from the edges, even in 4-wheel drive. (Not their fault! Record breaking rain this year!). Otherwise a perfect trip! We will definitely be back!

Perfect quiet getaway

This property could not have been better for our friends and dogs getaway. We spent hours hanging outside on the beautiful property... small creeks for the dogs to play in, chairs/boulders/bridges to sit on and read, hot tub in the cool rain at night, and outdoor table for snacks! It was pretty quiet, could occasionally hear neighbors, but was mostly quiet--just the sound of the creeks and leaves in the wind. All of the appliances worked fine for us (used the dryer a few times on towels)--the TV and Wifi had some challenges connecting but we always got it to work after some work for a little bit of netflix in the evening. It was nicely stocked with paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and had trash bags, which was super nice. The front door was a little tricky, had to REALLY pull it to get the lock to unlock and had to really push it to get it to close (from inside), but it wasn't a big issue. We'll be looking to book this house again in the future!

The cabin itself was okay but the property was not cleaned I had to wash all the towels in the bedding no toilet paper wasn’t swept I had booked this reservation on June 17 and when I arrived at the location the owner said they didn’t know that I had booked it so that they didn’t have it ready I had to do all this on my own and paid extra for linen that wasn’t clean and cleaning fee when the property was not not to mention all the nails that are outside in the yard I picked up at least 30 nails they could’ve been in somebody’s foot they didn’t tell me that I need to provide my own firewood .

Nice But Rustic

Nice, simple cabin. Bathroom is nicely remodeled. Hot tub worked like a champ and was new. Gas fire place was great. Location is somewhat remote as the last 3 miles are on a dirt road. We were 30 minutes from Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. The local ski resorts and Ohiopyle were even closer. Neighbor cabins are visible from the cabin but far enough away that you have privacy. the management company was great and responsive. The pictures show chairs outside but none were available for us to use on the deck or around the fire pit. Towels and linens were old and thin. One towel had a hole in it the size of quarter - for the price I expected better. They have internet but don't want you to use it other than for 5-10 minutes a day to search for local things to do or points of interest which was disappointing and not clearly indicated in the listing. I have stayed in many cabins for rent so I have some perspective and I would give this one a 3+ stars for the price you pay.

Overall the property was amazing! My only complaints were the house smelled musty and there were some cobwebs. There were also hairs in the bathtub. It also would’ve been nice to have some basic hygiene amenities. But the property was lovely and peaceful. We would recommend!

Quick Weekend getaway

This is such a cute little, mostly private, cabin. Our visit was in the beginning of spring, the trees hadn't filled in yet, so there were a few houses visible from the front.The cabin was still winterized with plastic on the windows, so when we walked in, it was a bit stuffy, but after turning on all the fans, it became comfortable.The only real issue we had, was when we went to make the bed. The sheets that were left for us were dirty with dog hair all over them. Luckily there is a washer and dryer, plus detergent, and I was able to wash them. As soon as I put them in the washer, I sent a message to the rental company and got a return message within 25 minutes, including a refund on the linen service. they also offered to bring other sheets, but I declined that since I was already washing the others.Overall this a beautiful cabin with an amazing view, including a small creek. The hot tub was wonderful.We definitely recommend this cabin.

We are a family of four from Pittsburgh. We love taking our little guys on trips to the Laurel Highlands and have always wanted a cabin of our own.

Why they chose this property

We instantly fell in love with the sound of the numerous springs, brooks and 'fairy pools' on the property. The thick carpet of moss that covers forest as well as the enormous boulders and lush ferns made us say " we'll take it!" Without a second thought.

The renovations to the cabin have made our little hide away spacious yet very cozy. We love that we can all hang out as a family indoors comfortably without tripping over each other.

As a mum, I feel it has everything we need as far as the 'luxuries' of hot bathes and showers, a place to do laundry after mucking about outside, and a full comfortable kitchen. The Wifi and entertainment center are a great bonus too. The kids love curling up on the couch to watch a movie after a busy day of exploring the creeks, climbing rocks in the yard and having campfires.

The best part Is falling asleep to the sound of a crystal clear spring in your backyard.

What makes this property unique

There is a lot of neat things to explore off the property as well. We recently discovered Kooser State Park which is only a few minutes up the road, you could easily ride a bike there. It has a little beach and a stocked trout pond as well as trails and picnic spots. Hidden valley is also very close by for skiing and tubing. If you are into architecture, Kentuck knob and Falling water are fairly close. Our kids really liked Animal Treasures Zoo which is also very close.

Out of the Fire Restaurant is our favorite place to stop in to eat. The Silver Horse cafe makes the best lattes I have ever had. If you prefer to cook at the cabin there are more than a few places to stop for groceries and wine or beer. Every time we stay up at the cabin we discover something new and interesting near by! We hope you do too!
