This beautiful detached house is set in mature gardens and lies just 2 miles from Ambleside, making it an ideal escape to explore the South Lakes. Situated on the lower slopes of Loughrigg Fell, this picturesque holiday cottage is ideal for couples and families looking for a spacious retreat. The ground floor is bright and spacious thanks to the large windows and open plan layout. The living/dining room has a cosy wood burner and is an ideal space for relaxing in front of the Smart TV. The kitchen is well-equipped. You will also find a large utility room with a washer/dryer. The utility room can be accessed from the patio. Also on the ground floor there is a bathroom with bath and shower over, along with a spacious twin room with quality furnishings. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with a super kingsize bed, the other with twin beds. There is also a shower room and toilet upstairs. All the beds have luxury matteresses for that perfect night sleep. To the side of the property there is a lovely patio with garden furniture and stunning views - this area is a real suntrap.
If you like walking or cycling there are some lovely routes around Loughrigg Tarn, Todd Cragg and Elterwater. Or, if you like more of a challenge, you can try the Langdale Pikes and the Fairfield Horseshoe. Locally there is a pub and hotel which provides great food and locally produced ales. For lake lovers, you are only 2½ miles from Lake Windermere with the famous steamers offering pleasure trips to Bowness and lakeside on a regular timetable. For the big kids in the family, you’re not too far from Go Ape at Grizedale Forest, a high rope adventure course for thrillseekers. The towns of Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere are all easily accessible and offer an abundance of restaurants, shops and bars. Sheiling made for an excellent base for a family celebration weekend. It is very well equipped with wonderful views. Quiet location within easy drive of Ambleside and Grasmere. Warm and comfortable, spacious rooms and plenty of living space for 6. Lots of local guides/maps/picture books. Loughrigg Tarn and Skelwith Bridge both within a short walk.

This is the second time I’ve stayed here and won’t be the last.
This is the second time I’ve stayed here and won’t be the last. The location is perfect for access to beautiful walks, closeness to the pub and access to Ambleside. Bedrooms are a good size and utility room was a godsend. Views are amazing. Might be helpful to open up the side drive higher up to enable easier access for dropping bags off ect. I would have also valued the ability to block off one of the back spaces to keep the dog in. - too tempting for him 😂Please also fix the top oven as wasn’t in use on our visit. Thanks again for a wonderful stay
