About this property
Quality Accommodation with a Spectacular Sea View
Built on an elevated site with a landscaped garden, The Haven faces west with uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean from the kitchen, living room and all upstairs bedrooms. It is furnished and maintained to a high standard.
Located between the lively market town of Skibbereen and the picturesque village of Castletownshend, it is the perfect base from which to enjoy the best that West Cork has to offer.
The blue flag beach of Tragumna is a 700-meter walk from the house, as is the welcoming pub, The Skibbereen Eagle. It is open 7 days a week from 5pm until late and serves good food 5 days a week at peak season, and at weekends during the off season.
Skibbereen, which is 8 km away, has a good choice of pubs, restaurants and shops, along with an 18-hole golf course, a heritage centre and a farmers’ market on Saturdays.
There is plenty to do in the area, whale watching and sea kayaking are only a 15-minute drive. Along this section of the Wild Atlantic Way, there are a number of delightful coastal villages such as Castletownshend, Union Hall and Glandore where you can enjoy superb restaurants. At nearby Baltimore, you can catch a ferry to the islands of Sherkin and Cape Clear, or take a trip to the Fastnet Rock.

About the host
Hosted by Ciaran O'Neill

Ciarán was born and raised in the nearby town of Skibbereen, Sara in southern Sweden.
The house was built in 1985 by Ciarán’s parents and in the early years it was primarily used for holiday lets. In 2003, the property was let out long-term and remained so for the next twelve years. In 2016, we began extensive internal and external renovations. Our goal was to fully realise the potential of the house and garden, and to create a space that reflects our personalities and the character of the area.

Why they chose this property
This is not just a rental property: it's our home. We live abroad but we come here every year for 8 weeks. For us, it's a place where we soak up the splendour of this part of the world, and one which allows our children to connect with their West Cork roots. We hope that you will enjoy The Haven as much as we do.
