If you enjoy walking amongst spectacular scenery, nearby Dovedale is a popular beauty spot renowned for its picturesque stepping stones and Thorpe Cloud which reaches a height of 942ft and was used in the filming of the 2010 film Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe .

It is possible to hire a bike in the nearby town of Ashbourne giving you the ability to explore far and wide along fantastic trails such as Tissington, Carsington Reservoir and Monsal. Monsal Head, directly above Monsal Dale, is one of the most famous and photographed viewpoints in Derbyshire. The combination of the winding River Wye at the bottom of the steep dale, the famous Headstone viaduct, Fin Cop hill and Hob's House cave are all elements that make a walk through Monsal Dale or the view outstanding.
Even before it became the earliest national park in the UK, the Peak District has been a favourite year-round holiday destination. The beautiful landscape combined with fantastic attractions and a fascinating past makes it perfect for everyone no matter what their age or interest

Beautifully presented and had everything we needed. Parking was good. The views from the bedroom and lounge were amazing. We wanted to visit JCB and it was a perfect location for that area. Thank you
Delighted to find this gem of a cottage for our stay in the area. Plenty of places to visit nearby, not just Alton Towers. Cottage has everything you might need in a home from home holiday and very comfortably laid out.
Couldn't fault a thing, right down to the friendly neighbour next door.
We'll be looking to make this our go to accommodation whenever we go to Alton Towers from now on.

It was a pleasure to welcome Nicola and her guests to our cottage - they left everywhere clean and tidy. They were respectful of the property and communicated very well.
We stayed during Christmas week and were delighted to arrive at the cottage to find it tastefully decorated with Christmas lights. The cottage is finished and furnished to a high standard and feels like a home from home.

About the host

I love living in Roston and the cottage was formerly my family home, where I grew up on the farm, with many happy memories of haymaking and playing in the fields and neighbourhood. I still have a huge love of animals and the countryside and I'm sure you will see our mini Shetland ponies popping up to the gate to see who is visiting. There are some great walks across the fields right next to the cottage and we can help you explore the area and make the most of your stay.
