Large house, plenty of room for five of us to spread out. Enough outside garden chairs which we used as the weather was really hot.
The house was perfect for our family get together, the large downstairs space worked really well for us. Lots of space and rooms makes it a perfect house for big groups who want to spend time together.
The house was ideal for our two families meeting up for a birthday celebration. The location was great and walking distance to town centre. All rooms were neat and tidy. The living room area was so warm and relaxing with a log fire. The kitchen was very practical and we could all fit around the island when preparing and cooking food.
Had a great couple of days at the house. The house is lovely with plenty of space and a fantastic garden. The host was very responsive before the stay and we were all very happy with our stay.
The perfect house for a girls night in. From the start of booking the host was helpful and attentive with any questions I had. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. I highly recommend this house.
This was the perfect house and location for our large family. Theresa Anne was a pleasure to work with and very helpful with information and suggestions.
Beautiful home, with plenty of room for all of us. Teresa-Anne was very helpful and accommodating from the initial enquiry right through to check-out.
Definitely recommend.

Very spacious house for family gathering. We are a family of seven adults and the house had plenty of room for more. The house is ideally situated in walking distance to Stratford’s town centre, yet far enough removed from crowded tourists. We had a lovely time.

Host Teresa-Anne is available and a great asset to the property. The property is well located and it’s easy to use to walk to all Shakespeare’s locations.Property has 6 bedrooms with four double beds and 2 small single bed rooms. While the listing says there are fold out beds - they are barely 3 inch floppy foam constructs. The kitchen has a small oven, and the cooking utensils are in need of being updated. Fortunately it was winter and we could use the AGA - which is finicky, and cuts out if not treated just right (increase temp a half step ever half hour), and has no temperature gauge so makes for a guessing cook. The house cleaners seriously let the owners down. There were thick layers of dust and dirt in the drawers, on surfaces and on door frames. We spent the first two hours cleaning and purchased air filtration to mitigate the allergens. The furniture is old - in particular the couch in the kitchen and the bed mattresses need replacement. The bedding is paper thin, the pillows flat, towels threadbare and have holes, and the nothing matches. With a long overdue refresh of linens, towels, bedding, furniture; a proper deep clean, increasing the available cooking methods in the kitchen, and a replenishment of cooking utensils this property could shine.
Oak Cottage is in a good location and the downstairs area great for socialising. The kitchen is so well stocked it made cooking easy. The large dining table can just about fit 12. The upstairs wasn’t quite as I’d expected. The room labelled as “two double beds” was one double bed and a small mattress, not really suitable for adults. The room labelled as a double bed and a single bed, was again a single mattress on the floor, as was another “single bed”. A few people found the duvets not warm enough (but appreciate this is personal taste).
We were a party of 10 adults (4 couples and two singles) and enjoyed our two night stay at Oak Cottage. Downstairs is very roomy, where we could congregate as a group or find a quiet space. We snugly fitted round the formal dining room and filled the 4 double and 2 single bedrooms on the first floor. Well equipped kitchen and huge fridge freezer made catering very easy. It’s an easy walk of a mile into the town centre and we would really recommend a guided tour. Friendly pub Bell at Shottery less than 5 minutes walk away.
Would recommend Oak Cottage but think that it would need to be a family group with small children to accommodate 12-15 people.
Wonderful house well equiped with plenty of room for all.
Great place to invite friends and family for a big birthday party.
2 notes to make it even better,
1. Put the hair dryer in a bedroom or bathroom not an otterman in the kitchen! (One of the kids found it, but only after we borrowed one)
2 The house is delightfully free from notes, but recycling rules vary wildly over the country. A note of what sorting is required in Stratford and which days to put out which bins would be most useful.

The freezer was full of food, many opened boxes and packets, and item wrapped in foil. There was only one shelf that I could use. A larder cupboard in the kitchen area was full of used/ open items, incl. oil bbf 2022. My food was stored on the worktops. Two double beds in one room was in fact one bed and a mattress on the floor. One bedroom had a wardrobe full of clothes and other things on the floor. We found that most of the drawers in each room had items in them, inculding a old make up used razor and medication. There were cobwebs on the inside of windows and dust/dirt on a several surfaces. Although Theresa-Anne responded quickly to my messages, her reason for the house being the way I found it was that family members often stayed there. I feel things should have been checked before we arrived. Having said all this we did have a nice holiday. The children and dog enjoyed the garden and having 2 dishwashers was a benefit as there were 12 of us.

A very inaccurate and misleading review that does not at all reflect on the quality of the property.
Great location for two families of four in the Cotswolds. Comfortable and well-equipped lodging; walking distance to local shops, sites, and pubs, and hospitable host.
Teresa-Anne was a great host. The communication in the run up to us staying was fantastic and even provided some recommendations for local places to eat.
The house was lovely and the cat Timmy was very cute.
Location was fantastic, very close to Stratford city centre.

Why they chose this property
Oak Cottage's location is a real bonus as so often properties listed as 'Stratford Upon Avon' would need a car to get within reach of the main town where parking can be a real challenge. The fact that the house is located on a quiet residential street (Hathaway Lane) - just a stone's throw from Ann Hathaway's cottage - visitors feel able to relax in a home from home rather than the more formal offerings of B&B's or hotels. The walk into town and all the main attractions is via Shottery fields; an expanse of grass where the only people you're likely to encounter are those making their way from town with a map in hand (in search of Ann Hathaway's cottage).
What makes this property unique
Other than the excellent location, the character and scale of the house make it a compelling proposition for large groups.
Oak Cottage is a traditional black and white Tudor house with authentic beams and a wood burning stove, an AGA in the kitchen (only lit during the winter time otherwise you are stiflingly hot!). It has roses around the front door, fairy lights on trees outside and a thatched roof on the adjoining garage. The main family room opens onto lovely lawns and a separate patio for outdoor dining. People who visit love Oak Cottage for its warmth and its scope for people to gather together or relax in quiet places. There are games, books and DVD’s to suit all tastes and a fully equipped extensive kitchen for preparing meals in a relaxed environment. Oak Cottage is a welcoming haven where people can come to relax, socialise, spend time together or just as easily apart (there are 15 rooms in total).... a welcome break from the usual day to day demands of most peoples' busy lives.
Other unique benefits are probably the scale and space for groups to be together but also apart to suit..... there is enough space for people to disperse or to gather in any of the main rooms as the occasion requires. Bedrooms are well equipped and comfortable with a mix of doubles and singles to accommodate most parties.
