About this property

Scappo in Umbria, La Escondida

“IMAGINE WAKE UP IN THE CHAOS OF THE CITY, LEAVE FOR A HOLIDAY AND ARRIVE IN AN ENCHANTING FOREST OF HOLMS, SLEEP AND WAKE UP PAMPERED BY THE SONG OF THE BIRDS AND THE SCENT OF THE UNDERWOOD"…
La Escondida is all this :)
A totally independent country house with private swimming pool, children's playroom, barbecue and enchanting outdoor spaces where you can relax and enjoy the uncontaminated nature that surrounds it.
La Escondida is located on the edge of a forest a few minutes from the municipality of Amelia and Narni,
it lies in a sunny position with an open view of the wooded hill, immersed in its colors and tranquility.
From the provincial road, you travel 800 meters of country road, always well maintained, thus arriving at the house.
It has a rich and flowery garden completely fenced and illuminated at night, as well as a fabulous porch where it is easy to imagine dinners and entertainment with your friends and family.
The property is internally spread over two levels connected by an internal staircase: 3 bedrooms on the upper floor and a bathroom, a large room on the ground floor with internal bathroom.
On the ground floor we also find the main living room, with fireplace and TV and the kitchen, equipped with every comfort, including washing machine and coffee machine.
From the kitchen and living room there is access to the porch where there is an ancient usable wood-burning oven.

Perfect space for our family. The house is rustic, three bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom, and one large bedroom downstairs with en-suite and then a second bathroom as well. Downstairs was very cool, good to get away from the heat when needed. The grounds are lovely and fun with quirky garden ornaments and donkeys that the kids enjoyed visiting (kept very separate from the house and gardens). The pool was kept immaculate. The covered terrace was a great space to hang out with our large family gruop, but there were a lot of cats that would come to the terrace for anyone with allergies. The kitchen is a bit small but fine for us to cook up some great meals for our gruop of five adults and three kids. Heads up that we had to stock up on basics when we first arrived like salt and pepper, extra bin bags, dishwasher tablets, cleaning spray, foil etc. In Australia where we live this sort of stuff is normally provided in a holiday rental, but guessing is different in Italy. Wasn’t an issue as Amelia is only a ten minute drive away with access to a couple of supermarkets, also some lovely restaurants and a pretty park with a bar and ice cream right by it. It is a very simple drive from Rome Fumicino airport. Very good communications with agent. Overall great place to stay.

I was born in Central italy in the 70’s in a small village of 8000 people, Amelia town, and brought up in the countryside cherished by my grandfathers and my parents who taught me the fundamental values of family, work and respect for the marvelous nature that surrounds us.

The art of gardening, of vineyards and olive groves have always fascinated me and accompanied me throughout my life.

My target is to welcome you into my region and make you feel at home, me and my collegues will completely be at you service..

Here in umbria you will find all those beauties and values such as traditions, integrity and a fascinating sense of history and culture that have been passed down throughout generations and are still findable in this amazing area of Italy, where the time seems to stand still…
