Fantastic cottage for a Snowdonia get away

Well appointed cottage with everything needed for a comfortable stay in a fantastic setting at the end of the Penmachno valley. Stunning views from the cottage and easy access to Betws-y-Coed and thence into the beautiful mountains of Snowdonia. Will definitely return, hopefully in the near future.

Excellent Property & Location

The property has been refurbished to a very high standard and is very well equipped. Hard to think of anything missing. The secure shed for bicycle storage is welcome and big enough for 2-3 bikes. The location is quiet with great views and good walks from the door. It's a short drive to Betws Y Coed if the quiet gets too much. The Eagle in Penmachno is welcoming with good ales and good basic food, and there's a convenience store too, approx. 3 miles by road. I'd recommend exploring the old quarry and going onto the deserted slate village further up, you'll find all the info. including guides and maps in the property. Overall, a definite one to return to and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy outdoor activity.

Perfection

From start to finish our booking for Bwythyn Angell could not have been any more perfect. Excellent communication from property owners, seamless check in and so easy to deal with. The property is quite simply stunning. Spacious, well equipped, clean and a perfect location for exploring. Upon arrival I was greeted with local sheep and chickens who had gotten into the garden, which was lovely and a breathtaking view from the garden, so peaceful and quiet. Beds were very comfy - only small point would be considering updating to include 2 x double/king size beds so as to make it more suitable for two couples perhaps, rather than 1 double and two rooms with singles/bunks - nonetheless, we absolutely loved our stay! None of us wanted to come home and are looking forward to coming back!! Thanks so much

Quaint cottage, tranquil location with lovely walks on the doorstep

Quaint little cottage in the lovely quiet hamlet of Cwm Penmachno. There are amazing views from the cottage across the valley. We went for a couple of great walks up the disused quarry, just up the road. Once at the top of this walk there are fantastic views of the valley. This was a really interesting walk, highly recommended. There was enough off-street parking for two cars plus more space if we needed it on the road. We appreciated the wood burner stove and TV with streaming device (Netflix, etc) in the living room and the large kitchen/diner with lots of space for a large family to congregate. The sleeping areas were not perfect for older people however, probably more suited to a young family but we made it work. My wife and I slept in the top bedroom (loft) and found the two single beds to be comfortable, however having to go up two flights of stairs to get to bed was tiring. If we were a little younger I'm sure it would have been no problem at all. (the loft would be perfect for children for example). The low beams were a bit annoying having bashed our heads a couple of times. Maybe the owner could consider attaching some sort of foam/bump strip. The double bed in the main bedroom, according to my sister-in-law was uncomfortable and she commented that she thought that the springs had gone in the mattress. The owner was very responsive to my questions and accommodating prior to making the booking as well as during my stay. We would definitely book this property again

Great to wake up to!

A beautifully renovated & furnished cottage in an exceptionally lovely valley. One problem we should have anticipated--the bedrooms are very small; especially for oldies like us--mid-70s,80s and one of 90! More storage space in the double-bed room would have been appreciated. All-in- all though we enjoyed our stay very much.Thank you,Erica

This was our 5th visit

This was our 5th time we have stayed at this lovely cottage with it’s beautiful surroundings. The location is perfect to visit surrounding attractions and it’s such a lovely area to stay. This time the weather was not so nice but we still managed to do all the things we planned. My only criticism was the cottage was not as clean as it had been in the past.

Great little cottage

Good property in a nice location. Not too far from Betws y Coed. Good sized kitchen/diner. Good downstairs space. Bedrooms a little small, but comfortable. Very good value for money. Garden quite small, grass area quite steep but great views from front and back of the cottage. An enjoyable stay and we were very lucky with the weather.

About the host

Host profile image
We have just purchased this holiday cottage which has been run as a successful holiday let by the previous owner for the last 6 years. For all those returning guests, the property is being cleaned by the same amazing cleaner and will continue to be managed in the same ethos as before.

Why they chose this property

All the amazing waterfalls that I drove past when I went to view the property just swung it for me! Also the close proximity to Betws y Coed. I am from Wales originally and to own a property in my home country (nevermind Snowdonia!) is just amazing. We want to share this with you when we welcome you to our cottage
