We are really sorry to what you been through. In the 23 years that we have had the pool, we never have had any problems like this. Last year we installed a new system that we can monitor online. We checked immediately after your message and all the values, like chlorine, pH and filters were correct during your stay. I have worked for many years at the university as a associate professor in microbiology and infections, and I find it unlikely that this kind of infection can come from a private pool which is clean where the chlorine level is correct. Rather, people who stay much in water (and in particular under water) are very prone to ear infection because the ears get irritated by the water, but it can be impossible to understand from where the infection originate, but mostly the bacteria come from a public place with many people, like public toilets, restaurant, fountains, beach etc. The people who stayed in our house before and after you have not had any infections. Anyhow, for precaution we have now treated the pool with a "chlorine shock". We didn't report back to you on this immediately because we were away on vacation.
