The Duchy Barn at Tregoose Old Mill

Set on a quiet country lane this former grain store has been lovingly restored and now provides those seeking time away with all the luxuries of a boutique hotel with the convenience of being home from home.

The Barn is on one level and across from our flock of hens which supply fresh eggs for your arrival. The living space is light, spacious and cosy. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you will need to whip up a culinary delight with no need to do the dishes after as the dishwasher can take care of that. Dining is a delight so why not have pre dinner drinks outside and for the chillier nights take a seat of the sofa and lose yourself with the sound of the wood burner. Your Bluetooth enabled record player provides some tunes from our selection of LP’s. For those who wish to catch up on movies and box sets simply connect your device to the smart TV and enjoy. We advise you to download anything you need before arrival as the Wi-Fi is good for general browsing and checking emails.

Your en suite bedroom is in one word dreamy, flooded with light during the day and with its dimmable lights, seductive in the evening. A super king size iron bed is dressed for you with 400 thread count linen, super sumptuous pillows and bedding. Your dilemma will be deciding when to leave it. Under the two roof windows is your in-room freestanding bath to share or soak alone until your heart’s content. The shower room has a two rainfall shower heads for those of you who cannot stand to be apart, you will also be supplied with bathrobes, large fluffy white towels and Noble Isle shower gel and shampoo.

Two bags of logs, a supply of kindling, lighters and matches are provided for the log burner. Additional wood can be purchased locally or from the hosts.

The Duchy Barn can accommodate a maximum of two adults. Children and pets are strictly not allowed. There is one guest parking space available.

This was our second stay at Tregoose Old Mill (we previously stayed at 'the hideaway') and we were not disappointed! Beautiful accommodation with a luxury feel and such attention to detail. Dean and Stephen were fantastic hosts, giving us a warm welcome on our arrival and giving us helpful recommendations for places to visit, we also really appreciated the delicious cookies! We love it here and look forward to returning soon!

The cottage was extremely well thought out with loads of small touches making the stay really special. The bed was massive with high quality bedding and the double showers/ bath were amazing. The surrounding area is a slice of heaven. Dean was friendly and really helpful giving us plenty of recommendations.

Fantastic stay!

The Duchy Barn is delightful, set in a quiet spot making it perfect for a peaceful getaway. We stayed for 3 nights and spent our days exploring lovely countryside and coastal walks. The barn, which is so well equipped and furnished, was a cosy place to come back to at the end of the day. Stephen and Dean are wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble and the superb scones on arrival were most welcome! We would definitely recommend The Duchy Barn!

Perfect!

We had a wonderful stay at The Duchy Barn. It was beautifully presented with everything you needed for a relaxing holiday. Everything was spotlessly clean with lots of lovely extra touches. (Including delicious homemade cookies!). The barn was perfectly located in quiet countryside but only 25 minutes from the coastal path with dramatic scenery and beautiful beaches. What could be more perfect! We definitely hope to return!

Absolutely heavenly

Tranquil, peaceful, stunning. Me and my partner had the best time at the duchy barn, it was very hard for us to leave. From the stunning location to the barn itself and the huge bath well.... I am at a loss for words. Dean and Stephen were amazing hosts, so friendly and very welcoming. We will definitely be returning again and maybe even in another one of the accommodations.

Steeped in history, Tregoose Old Mill dates back to 1750 and stands on the site of an old monastery which befell the anger of Henry VIII during the reformation. The original altar stone can still be seen in the garden and the stone that was used to build the mill is reportedly from the former monastery. A working flour mill has been on this site since the late 1400’s and stopped milling in the 1920’s. The original waterwheel was destroyed many years ago when a group of local boys re opened the mill leat which then washed away the decaying wood structure leaving only part of the original mill wheel spindle which can still be seen on the lower side of the building.

The current owners and feel honoured to be part of the next stage of the mill's history. Our first holiday cottage; The Hideaway is unrecognisable now following an extensive refurbishment in 2018. Our desire is to provide luxury country coastal living in surroundings that invite you to relax, enjoy time and forget your phones for a while.
