Lovely stay but could have been advertised as remote location
We had a great stay, the accommodation was clean and very well equipped. The bedrooms were well sized with lots of storage but we did require a few more coat hangers and a show rack for dirty shoes would have been welcomed. The kitchen was well stocked with a all the utensils and saucepans we could have asked for. The settees in the living area were very tired and had lost their firmness in the seat cushion making very uncomfortable seating. We had to make our own using pillows from the bedroom. The location was extremely remote with narrow lanes, my Mother-In-Law who was on holiday with us was not at all comfortable driving down the lanes and without us she and her husband would have been stranded in the holiday home, unable to drive anywhere. I do feel this should be placed on their advert. We were very lucky we had two vehicles that we all could drive for each other. The games room was a great addition and our children loved playing table tennis and darts, however, their is a need for a table tennis ball that works properly. In the utility there are spare tennis rackets and balls for anyone to utilise which is great. The tennis court does need the mud removing though but we were there October half term and I am sure had it been the summer the tennis court would be in great condition.
In spite of our being very late, the owner kindly welcomed us & spent time explaining - our journey had taken more than double the time, due to road conditions.
We loved our holiday let - sadly the weather wasn’t good which prevented us exploring more locally.
We definitely hope to come again.
One plea - as we were travelling onwards - more coat hangers please.
Very good. Although my initial email to the owner wasn't answered but spoke to them onthe phone.

Comfortable stay
Comfortable, clean accommodation providing the basics. Not much close to the property itself but it is well situated for exploring the area including Exmoor National Park. Very rural location with very narrow country roads - which adds to the adventure.
Check in instructions and opportunity to communicate with the owner prior to arrival could have been better.
It is very quiet and in the country side and nice to be waken up by sheep instead of traffic but is in a remote area and have to drive about 4 miles On a narrow road

Devon is full of narrow Devon lanes, we are not unique
Property was as advertised and very well equipped. The location is remote along narrow lanes. The owners are lovely.

About the host
Hosted by Tod Bainbridge
Tod and Heather Bainbridge have lived here for over thirty years and have been running Quarry Hockford Cottages for ten years.
We started with the Cider Barn and added Orchard Lodge eight years ago and Lakeside this year (2014).
Why they chose this property
When our children were young the property and the area provided good riding and plenty of room for the horses. Now we just enjoy the peace and tranquillity and the feeling of remoteness while still having good access and easy communications.
What makes this property unique
Rural seclusion and tranquility . Stunning Exmoor National Park a few minutes away. Good communication links.
