A small but snug and beautifully equipped space for two in the glorious Golden Valley. Utterly peaceful, beautiful views. Ideal for walking, visiting Hay, Hereford, Brecon and the Welsh borders. Pets welcome (but not compulsory).
The space In Herefordshire's beautiful Golden Valley, with easy access to Hereford, Hay-on-Wye or Abergavenny. A south facing annexe, entirely independent and separate from the main house, consisting of kitchen/sitting room, bathroom and bedroom with double bed. Equipped as we would expect it to be if we lived in it, so TV, Wi-Fi, IPad dock, wood burning stove, linen, towels and all kitchen equipment. It's designed ideally for 2, but extra people may be able to sleep in the house if necessary (enquire in advance). Minimum stay is 2 nights with reductions for a week or more. This is one of the few remaining unspoiled rural areas in the UK, with many walks including the Cat's Back, the Black Mountains, Offa's Dyke, and at 45 - 60 minutes drive, the Brecon Beacons. There is easy access to Hereford or Hay-on-Wye (20 minutes), also Abergavenny (30 minutes), Brecon (45 minutes), Ludlow (50 minutes), Cardiff (70 minutes), Swansea (90 minutes) - all assuming you have a car. There are a few buses, but a car is pretty essential. Hereford is the only place you will encounter much traffic (and Cardiff and Swansea of course should you get that far). Ideal for a walking holiday, exploring the Welsh Borders, the Hay Festival (when on), and even a weekend break doing absolutely nothing except relax in the peace of our beautiful countryside. (Please see 'Other things to note')
Guest access You will be entirely independent, but within a few yards of the main house, so you can beat on our door if something goes wrong - and please do. There's nothing worse than guests telling you as they leave that actually the shower/heater/light/whatever wasn't working, but it didn't really matter. Of course it matters! There is ample on-site parking.
Other things to note Pets are welcome. We have a large red setter (Monty) who expects 24/7 cuddles and will do his best to convince you that he is in desperate need of food. He is NOT allowed in the unit, whatever he may try to tell you, and please don't encourage him as later guests may not be dog lovers. Also please note that the unit is small (see the pictures) and if you bring more than 2 large dogs it may seem crowded. The garden is fully fenced but is shared with ourselves (NOT private). You are encouraged to treat it as your own (though not the vegetable patch up the steps, please). Also please note that particularly in the summer WiFi can be unreliable (Vodafone says it's the leaves on the trees). Generally this only means that you may have to move a few metres to find the signal (you're welcome to come into the house if it gets that bad). Owners are MOST helpful and friedly. Roses lovely Village very dog and people friendly. Well stocked village shop, Hub centre in church and both pubs let one feel at home in the community.
Fabulous stay. Lovely and cool in a heatwave, if you are looking for peace, tranquility and a good nights sleep, then this is the place. Great hosts (including the dog!)
The stay and location was excellent but it would have been helpful to have received the welcome pack and directions prior to leaving home and a map of the location to over an hour to reach the property and a phone number!!!

You wil know of my attempts to find out why Vrbo failed to send you these things, and that I was unable to get a satisfactory reply from them
Lovely few days so lovely and quiet in the beautiful countryside.

Nice to see you. Sorry not to say goodbye. Christine had the wrong day in her diary and when you said you were going I thought you meant just for the day. Danny was very upset when you went.
Once we arrived, we were greeted by Christine. Very easy check in and Christine and Ian were super friendly as was Danny the dog. Danny and our dog got along really well. The property was lovely, we had been left all the bare essentials, tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Also a lovely bottle of local cider. There were logs for the log burner and everything was clean and tidy. Recommend fish and chips at the Nags Head in the village and the village shop has everything you might need. Highly recommend and we would stay again *****

A differing opinion
For those trying to find the chocolate box, you can follow the owner’s instructions using the postcode and address but please note the property is up a small tarmac track off the road and the property is called Slade.
There’s no point in calling the owner for directions as he does not answer a call from an unknown number.
We luckily managed to get directions from a passing dog walker.
We thought that the unit had a strong smell of damp, the furnishings were tired and the sofa and bedding damp. We did not stay more than the first night.
The owner disagreed with our opinion stating that he had had no complaints.
Very quiet and relaxing. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need.
Very clean, comfortable bed, loads of storage space. Lovely shower room again lots of space and storage.
We really enjoyed our stay!
It was a little tricky to find, just a few more directions would have been helpful.
We would definitely stay again......beautiful area to visit.
