Love this place!
Beautiful tranquil setting. The dairy is immaculate inside with a lovely comfortable bed and great shower and bath. There’s a little welcome pack with tea and coffee which was all I needed. I have stayed here with work before and the location is perfect for me. I will book again.

Great escape from Glastonbury crowds
Great escape from Glastonbury crowds. Although must be even more wonderful without festival, just for quiet rest in very beautiful countryside. Hopefully away from the festival the price is more balanced and adecvate for what you pay and what you get.

Our dream getaway
I stayed in the Dairy with my twin sister for about 4 days, and we had an amazing time. The room was so cozy and nice. We were given some complimentary snacks on our first day along with a tour of the grounds. We got full access to a beautiful kitchen and gorgeous walking paths. Our hosts were extremely hospitable and welcoming. Toby, the farm dog greeted us by sitting on our laps and following us around while we explored the beautiful scenery. The animals were super cute and friendly and we enjoyed saying hello to them every morning. Every little corner of the farm was full of flowers and just added to the overall beauty and charm

New year 2023/24
A very pleasant stay thank you, it would be good to have a little kitchen as the Dovecote has, for washing dishes and cups etc. The bathroom sink wasn’t easy, maybe an idea for the future.
The shower screen leaks on the hinge and needs filling to prevent water leaking out on the floor.

Home away from home
My stay at the farm was absolute wonderful. The room was spacious and light, lots of storage space and a beautiful en-suite with a large bathtub. Everything was high quality and very tastefully decorated.
Everybody I met on the farm was very friendly and helpful and in the morning I could go and watch all the different animals being fed from sheep to goats, different kind of chicken, geese and ducks. My favourites were the long neck geese who look so funny when they - head first - walk or run.
A large well equipped kitchen and dining room to use made it easy to prepare my special diet meals. Next time I want to book double the amount of time I stayed now. So very beautiful, quiet, relaxing, friendly.
If you are single like me, a couple or a family (it is very children friendly) there are places for everyone.

Absolutely unique, pristine beauty, clean and tidy.
My stay at Upper Vobster Farm, always a pure joy. The gentle walks on the treed pathways into the woods, the many rich well cared for rose bushes and flower gardens with there own unique smells, the gorgeous songs of the birds, the stillness felt whilst walking to and sitting under the huge trees. The gentle babble of the brook, the calls of the many farm animals, the joy of seeing the miniature castle which is home for the ducks, which they seem quite thrilled about. The Upper Vobster Farm House itself is a master piece, quite amazing and grand. Also many of the most exquisite cottages with huge windows and skylights, fully equipped for both a long or a short stay, where my rest has always been refreshing, fabulous and worry free. All drawing us deeper within where the deep settlement makes sense of it all....Lynda

Tuning in with nature with a relaxing stay
Waking up to birds chirping, lying amongst gentle creatures and being immersed in nature are just some of the things one can do at Upper Vobster Farm. With beautiful flowers everywhere and animals greeting you daily, this place was nothing short of magical especially for someone who has been living their life in the city. I enjoyed every single moment I was there and was left wanting more. The residence I was staying at was very clean and beautiful and they also had fully equipped kitchen nearby that would make any chef jealous. The owners Michael and Tricia were very welcoming and the staff working on the farm are extremely friendly and helpful as well! If what you’re looking for is a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and just relax peacefully among animals and nature, I strongly recommend Upper Vobster Farm!

A beautiful stay
Myself and my son stayed at Upper Vobster Farm recently and we had the most lovely stay. The accommodation was immaculate, the staff friendly and helpful and the setting stunning.
My son who is 11 years old loved feeding the animals and collecting the eggs. He even took the goats for a walk around the grounds.
We shall return again soon.

A little oasis of peace and tranquility.
I had a lovely warm and gentle welcome from the family spaniel who came up to my car to greet me as soon as I arrived. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Very comfortable and elegant decor and furnishings in the dairy. A nice garden table outside to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. A pretty courtyard with goldfish pond nearby. Beautiful garden borders with masses of fragrant roses and lavender in bloom during my weekend stay and the surrounding countryside is stunning. The chickens, goats and ducks added to the magic. A very enjoyable weekend.

three nights at Upper Vobster Farm
Upper Vobster Farm is situated in a beautiful location, that is quiet and harmonious and within easy access of Frome, Bath and other areas.
The rooms are gorgeous, beds and pillows comfortable for all and every detail is taken care of for the guest. Including the owners popping by to say hello and see if anything is required.
Plenty of animals for all to enjoy too - goats, sheep, ducks and hens.
Thank you - we will certainly return to stay at Upper Vobster Farm again.

A wonderful stay
It was a fantastic get away! The location was in a beautiful area, surrounded by greenery. The room was very clean, spacious and tidy. For me it was the little touches that made all the difference. The freshly cut rose from the garden in my room smelled lovely, the cotton pads in the bathroom (especially as I had forgotten mine), fresh milk, gowns and even Epsom salt in the spacious bath tub. You can tell that everything has been thought through and personalised. You get the fresh feel of a hotel but also the warmth of a family owned business. Enjoyed walking around 60 acres of beautiful well kept land, feeding the lambs, swinging on the massive swing tied to a 500 year old tree and meditating on the cool egg chairs!

About the host
Hosted by James Nicholson
With my parents we look after 55 acres of land in the Somerset countryside. Growing up at the farm since 1991 over the years we have restored the buildings and the land back to its glory, so now guests can enjoy all the farm and area has to offer.
Why they chose this property
Upper Vobster Farm is a beautiful country property lovingly restored and created to help you take a rest from the stresses of life. There are so many pressures around us that take away our space and time. Upper Vobster Farm is somewhere where you can allow yourself to have a moment to be yourself again. We have 55 acres of land, including a 6 acre wood, which is a nature conservation area and preservation area for birds of prey. Nature, the woods and the sounds of the birds will make you stop in your tracks and feel the magic around. As well as the buzzards, kestrels and red kites you may well see the resident kingfishers on the stream or by one of the lakes, or hear the woodpecker at work in the ancient oak tree.
As our guest you are welcome to enjoy all that we have to offer. There are wonderful walks, places to sit and time to be. From the buildings the land slopes down to a stream in the valley below. There are two small lakes with damsel flies and dragonflies, one with a beach with logs and rocks to sit on that also harbours a large number of newts and the other one which is near an old stone bridge that leads you on to the old drovers way. But please remember that playing in or by or with water is what children like best and it is your responsibility to make sure that they are supervised by an adult at all times.
You’ll find a flock of North Ronaldsay rare breed sheep, pygmy goats, various ducks which live in their own castle, many varieties of hens and other wildlife. Grasses and wildflowers are abundant in summer, bluebells and wild garlic in spring and numerous fungi in autumn. Winter frosts leave an enchanting feel to treasure when you’re all wrapped up and can come back to a warm fire.
What makes this property unique
Set in 55 acres of Somerset farm and woodland to explore, with a 6 Acre Ancient Wood with Bluebells and Wild garlic in Spring. Come and join us feed the animals in the mornings, book the fire pit to be out in nature, allow your body to settle sitting by the pond.
We are close to Longleat, Bath, Frome, Cheddar Gorge and many other Somerset attractions. Babington House is just around the corner.
And whilst here you can still work and keep up with the world as we have dedicated fibre internet upto 100 Mbps.
