About this property
Charming lakefront cabin close to Acadia National Park
Welcome to the Bungalow. This traditional, rustic, lakefront, cabin located on George's Pond and offers a quiet, peaceful Maine getaway. Built-in 1905, its rustic ambiance has all of the modern-day amenities without sacrificing the experience. You can fall asleep listening to the loons sing and awaken to the sunrise watching eagles and osprey feed on the lake. George's Pond is a 380-acre spring-fed lake surrounded by glimpses of the mountains of Acadia National Park. It is lake life at its best! The kids will spend hours swimming, fishing, kayaking, and jumping off the famous diving rock in the lake. This cabin sleeps 9 (2 Queen bedrooms, 5 twin beds in the loft), as well as a hammock perfect for an afternoon nap. We are minutes to Schoodic Mountain and Schoodic Beach where you can hike or have a picnic on Donnell’s Pond. Schoodic’s summit is flat with 360-degree breathtaking views over Frenchman Bay and Mount Desert Island. The Downeast Sunrise Trail is a revamped railway with miles of trails for biking, hiking, ATV, or walking (see website for more information) just minutes from the cabin. Schoodic Head is 30 minutes towards Winter Harbor and also part of Acadia National Park. There you will find beautiful hikes, a cute harbor town, and great ice cream. The cabin has a private dock, large yard perfect for family entertaining and playing games, enjoying a bonfire, or reading a good book in the hammock. Acadia National Park, known as the crown jewel of the North Atlantic coast, protects the highest and most beautiful rocky headlands. The cabin is just 40 minutes to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. There you can shop the island boutiques, dine in Bar Harbor's wonderful restaurants, go whale watching or grab a homemade ice cream cone. You can also play golf at the famous Kebo Valley course. On the way home, stop and pick wild blueberries and make a cobbler or relax on the dock and watch the eagles ha fish. There are multiple bike, kayak, and boat rentals available from local vendors. Kayaks and life vests are provided. Come for a visit, your memories will last a lifetime.

About the host
Hosted by Danielle Hartley

My husband grew up in Bar Harbor and spent his Summers as a boy going "upta camp" on Donnell's Pond which is just a few miles away. It was important to him that his son spend his Summer's the same way he did. We love George's Pond. It's our happy place.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property because its a traditional old historic Maine cabin with the open loft and floor to ceiling fireplace. It has a lot of open green space for kids to play and enjoy Maine life at its best. When our friends and family come to visit, the parents report back that this was their favorite vacation ever. And that's pretty special.
What makes this property unique
The thing that makes this property unique is that its incredibly quiet and peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle yet close to the tourist attractions of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The only sounds you hear is the singing of the loons and the occasional boat passing by. It's truly a Summer dream!
