Guest Comments : ...thanks for your place. It was wonderful. Just perfect for me and my family…It really hit the spot overall...we really unwound and found time for Bar Harbor, the west side of the island, Ellsworth, the lumber jack show, golf, kayaking, whale watching…, hiking in the park….we loved it and hope to return again in the future. Thanks again for making it possible.----

Guest Comments : We just returned from our vacation to Maine a few days ago—wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed Goose Cove Cottage! It was even more than we expected….I don’t think I told you before the trip: my parents’ favorite vacation spot has always been Maine, but because of their age, they haven’t been back to Acadia National Park for over 10 years; so we put together this family trip so my folks could return there, and the cottage turned out to be the perfect spot for us. Thank you—

Best house in the woods

Property was amazing. Quiet and peaceful, yet close enough for a quick trip to pick up any needs. Short drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The home was beautiful inside and out. Inside, the decor was amazing with very nice designs. It had every amenity you could imagine. The check-in process was fast and simple. The host even had a 6-pack of blueberry soda! (First time having it and I must say, I'd go back again for just the soda) Great communications to make sure we had everything we needed. The check-out was easy with great instructions on what needed to be done. If you are looking for a quiet, close, and beautiful place to stay on your visit to Acadia or sights nearby, this is the place for you!

Outstanding, Quaint Cottage

Goose Cove Cottage is a beautifully decorated, welcoming, well-maintained property. Tucked into the woods, private location close to Bar Harbor and Acadia State Park. Based on price, location and amenities, the cottage is well worth the investment. Can't say enough to describe what a wonderful place it is to stay.

Cozy Cottage in the Woods

The cottage was in a good location for us, close to the park but not in the "busyness" of Bar Harbor. The kitchen had everthing we needed to prepare our meals, and the beds were all super comfy.

A Lovely Time in the woods

I am a stained glass worker and enthuiast, so loved all the beautiful lamps in every main room. Also the furniture was super comfortable and well arranged. Walking in the house, i just felt at home. The beds were wonderful and those quilts were beautiful and were color matched to the stained glass lamps. Gazebo was nice but we didn't use due to weather. Kitchen was also nicely stocked. Very pleasant place to stay.

Very comfortable, clean and inviting. Kitchen well equipped and bathing toiletries provided. Do recommend some branch clearing around driveway as can be difficult to find. Also reflective numbers on mailbox to assist at night.

Clean and comfy

We stayed for a week in this perfect location surrounded by Fall trees. It was a perfect home base for hiking, kayaking and exploring this lovely area. The kitchen with full size appliances made it easy to cook as a family. The dining table was perfect for all the board games available. So many movies available to watch but for some reason The Cider House Rules was not one of them. Bedrooms and bathrooms were nicely located in this quiet setting. Thank you for sharing this wonderful space. Also, June was a great communicator-a phone call or text away.

5th time at the cottage

This is the fifth time that we have rented the cottage. The rental is very convenient and clean. The amenities are top notch. We tend to eat in a lot and the kitchen is well stocked ,with everything and anything to prepare meals. It has been 12 years since we have been back to the cottage and the outdoor screen house was a welcome addition. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking to stay in the Bar Habor area. Hope to be back sooner than later....

Perfect Cottage outside Bar Harbor

Everything was perfect about this cottage. It was Spacious, clean, well stocked. The location was close enough to drive easily to all of our desired attractions, yet felt remote and very private. The gazebo was perfect for family games. The TV and movies selection was amazing and perfect for rainy days. Kitchen was very well stocked. Internet and Wi-Fi was excellent. Host texted us to see if we needed anything or had any issues. Communication prior to check-in was excellent. Could not have asked for anything more. One of the best aspects of our family trip to Bar Harbor.

Excellent accommodations and base for day trips.

The cottage was lovely and the location ideal for day tripping. Everything was immaculate. Every room was packed with amenities, including a library-scale dvd collection for those rainy days. Super comfortable beds. Unexpected was the large tote bag filled with locally produced jams, mixes, sauces, etc. waiting on the dining table. Don't shop until you arrive and inventory all the goodies.

My husband and I traveled with our two girls and the cottage was perfect! June is great to work with! It exceeded all our expectations. This cottage is clean and has everything you could want/need for your stay! We loved sitting on the deck each night to relax after hiking and biking in the area. The huge selection of DVD's and games was great!!!! So many awesome kitchen appliances for all your needs!!!! Three lobster pounds are right down the road. So close to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The cottage met all our needs for this trip and was so peaceful. We would highly recommend to others and would definitely return!!!!

Wonderful home away from home

Our first reaction of the home was that the pictures online do not do it justice. It is deceptively larger, well stocked, and cleaner than the pictures are able to capture. The beds and furniture are more comfortable than any vacation home we have ever stayed at. June was amazing to work with and showed so much care in ensuring we have everything we needed. Our other family members chose a different waterfront property which was not as clean, cozy, or updated. They kept coming over here to visit us in the evenings because our place was so much better. As the other reviewers mention, the location is pleasantly secluded but very convenient to local points of interest. We did everything from Acadia National Park hiking, to whale and puffin tours from Bar Harbor, to movie night in the park! This far exceeded our expectations and hopes. Best vacation ever! Thank you mo much June!!!

A great place to stay and close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor

We enjoyed our stay at Goose Cottage Cove. It was very clean, well decorated and cozy. The directions were easy to follow and the owner was very good about making sure we had no problem finding it. When we arrived there was a beautiful basket full of goodies from the area. It is in a beautiful woody setting and close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. It was a great week for leaf peeping. We enjoyed the Bar Harbor Nature Cruise and the National Park Cruise. Also the shore path is a beautiful walk and not too far. When the tide went out we were able to walk the Bar Island Path. There are many great restaurants in the area. Side street Café and the Chart Room were very good. If you don't want to travel into Bar Harbor the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound had great lobster. One day we travelled about an hour away to Prospect, Maine and went to Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory and Historic Fort Knox. That is a must see. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it. Such a beautiful area!

Wonderful visit at Goose Cove Cottage

My wife and I vacationed in Acadia the week after Labor Day. We stayed at the Goose Cove Cottage – and we found that the whole experience was great. For the cottage, everything was immaculately clean when we arrived. The bed in the master bedroom is also very comfortable. The cottage is fully stocked with everything from kitchenware to a washer / dryer (very helpful for week-long stays!) and there is even a large collection of Blu-Ray DVDs with an entertainment center if you come home exhausted from hiking one night! It’s not far away from the National Park itself and if you need supplies it’s also close to a well-stocked grocery store and another, larger grocery store a couple more minutes north. We used it every day as a “base camp” for hiking and kayaking in Acadia National Park. The owner is also very helpful and attentive if you have any questions at all. Additionally, the property itself is also very quiet. We would repeat this visit if/when we come back to Acadia! Chris & Sabrina 9/1 – 9/6, 2014

Peaceful, Near Bar Harbor and Acadia, Very Well Kept!

Eight of us ranging in age from 21 to 75 recently stayed at Goose Cove Cottage for three nights. Our family had never been to Maine and initially we tried to find a place to stay in Bar Harbor. Many places require a 7 night stay or couldn't accommodate a group of 8. This worked out so much better for us. It's much quieter and relaxing than staying right in Bar Harbor. If peace and quiet along with the smell of balsam are what you are looking for, this is the place! June was very easy to work with. The place is exceptionally well taken care of and clean. Bar Harbor and Acadia are about a 15-20 minute drive. We were able to enjoy the peacefulness after the "busyness" of Bar Harbor. There is very little within walking distance of the cottage though if you are looking to stay at a place where you can walk to restaurants and shops. We did not mind the short drive to get to Bar Harbor. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. The bag of goodies was a nice surprise as well!

THE place to stay when going to Acadia!

Words can't properly describe the amazing experience we had when we stayed at the Goose Cove Cottage. Of all the places we've stayed over the years, this place was the cleanest, nicest, and as close to a perfect experience as one can have for lodging. The location is great, you're close enough to explore all of Acadia while far enough away from the crowds. You're only a few minutes from local restaurants and shopping is about a 10-15 minute drive. The property was dead on perfect. The second we walked in the house, we felt like we were at home. I can't say enough about the property owner as well, she took better care of us before and during our stay than I could have ever imagined. During our week long stay with a 2 year old (this is a great place for kids by the way), we explored the normal "touristy" parts of Acadia as well as some of the other far flung places of the park. The cottage's location made this incredibly easy to do. It was nice being able to come back and cook a nice meal after hiking/chasing a 2 year old around. Bar Harbor is about 20 minutes away, and the main gate for Acadia was about 15 minutes. You'll appreciate the quietness of the cottage being just over the bridge on the other side of Mt. Desert island when you come back from a day of wandering around Bar Harbor when there are cruise ships visiting. As you can tell, we would absolutely recommend this as a place to stay when going to Acadia. The price is right, and you'll be staying at a place where you can truly relax. We can't wait until we can get back here again, because we know we are guaranteed to have a great trip.

Before my family moved to Bar Harbor in the late 60's, I have vivid memories of life at the lobster pound that my father and uncle shared ownership of in Sorrento, Maine. Many hours were spent with my siblings scouring the seashore for driftwood, sea glass, and shells, digging up clams, looking for crabs under seaweed at low tide, and exploring tide pools. We grew up with a love of nature and particularly the ocean. Many of my adult years were spent working in Bar Harbor as well as exploring Mt Desert and some of the surrounding islands. After the family business located in Bar Harbor was sold in 2000, we moved to the mid-West where I presently live. But, I am drawn back to this region several times a year to enjoy the unique beauty of Acadia and to experience once again the sights, sounds, and smells associated with the Atlantic ocean.
