This was the most lovely location, away from the hustle & bustle of Bar Harbor but still close enough when we wanted to do the obligatory visit. We visited mid/late October and the foliage was beautiful. Host provided some great restaurant recommendations.
Another wonderful stay at ChaseHouse SpiritRock! Such a lovely home with everything needed for a comfortable, enjoyable stay. We have stayed here now twice with our two teens with plenty of room for everyone to spread out as well as gather together. After spending days exploring Mount Desert Island, it’s amazing to have a place to swim right down the street. Highly recommended stay!
We were in Acadia for just a few days w a couple friends, so wanted convenience and comfort. The house is centrally located, in a peaceful wooded setting across from a lake, and was spotless. Enjoyable stay!
Well located on the south and west side of park out of the hustle bustle of bar harbor. Easy access to the parts of the park we love. Hosts are good communicators
My wife and two young children loved it here! Wonderful outdoor space to enjoy the weather and beauty of Maine. The swimming spot across the road is magic. The house is perfectly clean and it was easy to feel at home. Robert and Bart gave lots of recommendations to put the experience over the top. Really really nice time.
What a fantastic property! The lush landscaping greets you as you pull into the long driveway. This house is secluded but close enough to feel connected to everything. We enjoyed the house and made several full meals in the kitchen. Sat outside and watched the birds, lightning bugs, and endless stars.
WE LOVED THE POND!!!
This was our first time visiting the Bar Harbor area and having this comfortable home to return to after our full days of exploring was perfect. The home is well situated close to downtown but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Some highlights:
- communication from hosts was delightful and helpful in helping us to navigate the area and select where to eat and what to do; In fact, Ann went out of her way to mail our 5-yo's stuffed lobster that we thought was lost forever! We can't thank you! Disaster averted!
- the house is right across from a beautiful swimmable pond with short hiking trails around it and accessible just a short walk from the house;
- house is stacked with all necessities needed for a comfortable stay in an idyllic setting;
We would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking to explore the area.
What a gift to be able to experience this property! Basics: very clean, bed was comfy, gas fireplace was super easy to use, Tv downstairs was a breeze to use, gas grill outside was easy to use, lots of seating areas outside, etc.
We hiked the park every day using this home as a starting point. Good location and a great relaxing place to come back to every day! We especially loved our time on the deck surrounded by rhododendrons - you are on the road, but except during 'rush' hour, no cars or noise. We used all of the backyard seating areas each day and watched the trees change as the leaves progressed through the week. Lots of birds and deer. Loved the lavender by the table!
The owners know what they are doing. This place was a delight! Obviously, if you are a gourmet chef, the kitchen is too small. But we cooked almost every night and had zero issues. We are very thankful to have had such a peaceful place to lay our heads each night. It was an amazing place to start and end each day!
We had a great time at the Chase House. The location can’t be beat - so close to Acadia which allowed us to do a lot of hiking and exploring. The house was comfortable and cozy for hanging out during stormy weather. Beautiful property and great communication from the owners. Highly recommend!
We greatly enjoyed our two-week stay at ChaseHouse! The cottage was immaculate, beautifully laid out, with an up-to-date kitchen and long wood dining table, and comfortable living room and downstairs den. Great views, with lovely landscaped property, including outdoor table, deck, hammock, and rolling lawn with flowers and flowering trees.
We enjoyed crossing the road to the small swimming launch at the top of Somes Pond. Occasional traffic from the nearby road (we'd prefer even more secluded) but largely quiet.
Owners were extremely helpful, welcoming and responsive. A great find!
Absolutely fabulous! Our family experienced such a wonderful week this Thanksgiving 2020. The property was immaculate, well-maintained and close enough to everything. The property managers were proactive in letting us know everything the area had to offer. Highly recommend
House was very nice. The location is a beautiful area.
We had a very nice family vacation.

About the host
Hosted by Bart Chase, Proprietor
The Chase Family has long been connected with Mount Desert Island. "Mimi" Chase, the deceased matriarch of the Chase Family, and her husband Robert Woodward, 50 years ago first arrived in Maine from Florham Park, NJ to homestead and stake their roots on Green Lake in Ellsworth Maine. Eventually they purchased a summer cottage on Green Lake's shore edge where they opened their home to their three children and 7 grandchildren to learn to swim, kayak, fish, build a camp fire, hike and explore Acadia National Park. And just as importantly, to learn to relax with family and friends and to form everlasting memories. Bart, Mimi's youngest son, and his wife Ann and four adult children , from Summit, NJ, are owners of ChaseHouse vacation home properties. Bart and Ann and their four children and two black Labrador Retrievers Bhodi and Woogie are adventurous nature loving outdoors people who enjoy extended and short stays throughout the seasons at their homes in Maine to explore the granite Atlantic coast and Acadia Park trails. On any given day the Chase Family, their friends, and invited guests are likely biking, hiking, boating, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, or simply wandering on a new uncharted adventure out and about in Acadia Park, at Green Lake, Schoodic, or elsewhere . If they are not in Acadia Park exploring, they are likely playing bocci ball at the Lompac in Bar Harbor, watching a movie at Reel Pizza, or chill-laxing on the Shore Path dangling their feet over a granite cliff overlooking Frenchman's bay, or lounging on the hammock with Cadillac Mountain in eye sight. The Chase Family is pleased to welcome guests to lodge in one of ChaseHouse's vacation rental properties to explore Mount Desert Island, and Acadia National Park and to experience the many attractions, natural delights, and scenic, relaxing beauty that the Island offers.
