Beautiful quaint cottage with all mod cons in super location!
Cottage was beautiful, very charming with a lot of character and super location just seconds from buzzy Stow! Highlights are the beautiful fire and cosy living room, powerful shower and a bath. The hosts were exceptionally facilitative allowing us early check in and late check out - massively appreciated as we were staying with our two young children. The only negatives are that the cottage is tired in places and the cleaning regime could be improved.
What an amazing cottage! Well kept, comfortable and Just the right modern featuresWould highly recommend

Centrally located cottage
Excellent location. Clean spaces and small but comfortable beds. Ceilings are uncomfortably low and staircases are very narrow - if you are above average height beware. Good option for a small group who prioritises a budget-friendly central location in Stow.

Cosy Cottage
We enjoyed our weeks stay at Heath Cottage. Very clean, comfortable and the location was perfect for walking into Stow and exploring the neighbouring towns and villages.
Lovely little enclosed garden which was ideal as we had a dog with us and also appreciated the reserved car space behind the property.
My only criticism which isn’t really anything to do with the cottage but did affect our stay was the constant noise from the traffic 24/7 seven days a week from the busy road that runs past the cottage. This was stated in the description but I didn’t realise what a busy road it would be all day long.

Great location
We had a great stay here, it is so convenient to walk into Stow itself and did a great 6km loop walk around the local countryside. The house was comfortable and located opposite Majestic Wine and M&S which was great for picking up food and drink whilst we were there. A few extra loo rolls, bigger towels for longer than a 1 night stay, and mini shampoo/conditioner would have been great for that extra special touch.

As the property is self catering only an initial supply of toilet paper is left for guests and toiletries such as shampoo are not provided. We do hope that you will be back to stay again soon!

Such a great find
Heath Cottage was perfect for the 5 of us. Loved the quirky bedrooms with comfortable beds. Great location, yes it’s on a main road but once inside you don’t notice and there’s parking.
We were lucky enough to have fabulous weather so had breakfast in the garden each morning. My only negative is we couldn’t find a tea tray such a minor thing from a great weekend of pure escapism!

New year stay.
Lovely little cottage with room for us all - 4 adults and a toddler.
Only trouble was when the washing machine was on for baby stuff, the draining water flooded the kitchen. Came right under the door from outside, so we only used it once! Otherwise we had a great time. Close to the town centre to walk in and enough parking for both cars.

Wonderful stay - we’ve booked for next year!
We had a wonderful stay at Heath Cottage. We do an annual Cotswold trip just before Christmas and I’m so glad we found this cottage. Everything was perfect! A few cobwebs but that’s to be expected in an old house. Very glad that things like washing up liquid, soap and dishwasher tablets were provided. The bedlinen was beautiful and the beds so comfy! The lounge was most definitely ours (and our mini dachshunds) favourite room with the lovely log burner. We have booked for next year and cannot wait to come back!

Disliked: Amenities, communication
beautiful cottage with a feeling of the cotswolds. we enjoyed it and liked having a kitchen and laundry. We were disappointed to go for the enire first day of our 3 days there without a WI-FI code. We received only 3 towels for 4 people, and only 1.25 rolls of toilet tissue. I understand that short term stay arrangements often expect customers will purchase hygiene items, but seriously! That is not enough toilet paper...There was no information about how to unlock the back door, so we could not access the outdoor area, use the grill or even locate the garbage bins. Really disappointing for the amount of money we paid. Terrible communication that could be fixed with a simple flyer or brochure on the table telling customers how to use the back door, what the WIFI code is, how to use the TV channels, turn on the radiators, etc.

Christmas Stay
Lovely old cottage with all the quirks you expect from an old property. Kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of space for six to eat round the table comfortably. Living room is very comfortable with the fireplace making it cozy in winter. Bedrooms are comfortable but be warned do have low ceilings and beams, but that’s to be expected in a property of that age. Towels and linen are of high quality.
Having a parking space is a great addition as the parking on the side road and out front can become very busy. The property is on a busy road and I was concerned by some reviews referring to this. The road did not bother us and we had the windows shut given the time of year but can understand the comments if in summer when windows need to be open. The house is generally clean on arrival but we did notice a few issues which we have reported back to the property manager. The house could do with a deep clean focusing on the areas not covered in a normal turn around clean. The property could also do with a repaint and general freshening up and the replacement of some items warn out, like glasses, mats etc. A good tidy of the garden and renewal of the lock on the gate is needed as we had to adjust the lock to ensure our dog did not get out. These items we noticed have been fed back to the property management and agency and acknowledged. Stay Cotswolds have been great to deal with and easy to reach even over the Christmas period.
Overall we had a great stay and the property is ideally placed for all the areas of interest and within walking distance of all the amenities in Stow itself. We would recommend the property for a stay but feel the refresh and upgrades are required to continue to charge the premium rates currently expected.

Fantastic location but could be better equipped
Great location and lovely old cottage, which was warm and inviting when we arrived. However, there was no privacy in the living room as there was a window blind missing - this room faces the main road so anyone passing could look in. The ceiling lights in the dining room did not work but there were lamps that could be used instead, the thermostat was hanging off the wall. There was ample crockery but on the whole the kitchen was poorly equipped and in desperate need of a refurb.

Lovely House, Great Location, Fews missed comforts
The house itself was beautiful, although it’s worth stating that the stairs are very steep and slippy (varnished floors) and ceilings are very low, so getting up and down them is hard (a lot of head banging).
There were a few dusty spots with large old cobwebs hanging at the top of the stairs. The house was kept very warm which was good.
Sadly there was no Tin foil, hand wash (in any bathroom), dish clothes, dish washer tablets or tea towels.
We had to go shopping as soon as we got there but left it behind for the next guests. Washing your hands should be a bare minimum.
It was located very well near the centre and just a stones throw for all the shops.

Thank you Becky for your review of Heath Cottage. We are delighted you found the property to be beautiful. We do forewarn guests in the finer details section about the steep stairs and low ceilings in this grade II listed property. Served its purpose but could have been better!
Although a very quaint cottage that is expected in the Cotswold, the property needs some touch ups. With it being dog friendly, you can smell this in the house and upholstery. There is also an issue with the upstairs bathroom (shower) leaking to downstairs. Although not a huge issue whilst being there, I am sure the landlord would prefer this to be fixed before it creates further damage. The cottage is located just off the main road and parking was fine, on street. There was plenty of crockery and amenities (although no coffee granules left). There is an M&S petrol station across the road which was handy. Located closely to the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold. The Porch House was lovely for Dinner! Overall, the cottage served its purpose but could have been cleaner.

Mixed feelings
The property location is something of a double-edged sword. Very close to all the amenities of Stow but yards from the very busy A429, with its heavy traffic, including a fair few emergency vehicles hurtling past. Weather was warm but given traffic noise, opening bedroom windows wasn’t an attractive option. Property is either quaint or given steep stairs, low ceilings and awkward layout of 2 bedrooms in the eaves, a bit annoying, depending on your point of view, though to be fair, it was alluded to in the literature. It was clean overall but extractor fans weren’t working in the upstairs bathroom and there was some staining to soft furnishings. It was pretty well equipped and did the job but given the above, probably won’t return.

Thank you, Barry for your review of Heath Cottage. The property description does state that -'This property is laid out over three floors and guests with young children should note that the property has steep staircases, particularly up to the second floor, and the front door opens directly onto the road outside. There are also ceilings throughout and low beams on the stairs up to the second floor, which could make it difficult to carry an infant up the stairs.' The map under the location information does clearly show where the cottage is located. We are delighted that you found the property to be clean and well equipped.

A lovely Cotswold stay
Heath Cottage is a typical Cotswold cottage – cobbled, tiled downstairs floor, small kitchen, low beamed ceilings upstairs…
The cottage was well kept – very clean, but a bit tired in places. It may be that we stayed at the very end of summer, when I’m assuming there had been a lot of people staying over the summer. The garden, for example, was slightly unkempt and the outside table was dusty/ dirty, the back gate didn’t lock – just little things that didn’t impact our stay massively but is why I have given it a 4 star rating rather than a 5. It felt like it needed a bit of TLC in a few areas.
The location is very close to the Centre of stow on the wold, with parking outside. It’s an easy 5 minute walk right into the heart of the village. BUT it is slightly set back from a main busy road, which seems to be busy until past midnight – then tails off.
You’re opposite an M&S food in the garage, which is handy.
It’s location is great and we went on daytrips to Costwold Wildife Park and Adam’s Farm within really easy reach in the car.
We had issues with the WiFi when we arrived, which the agent promptly helped us with – but it remained really patchy throughout our stay – coming in and out. Perhaps this is fixed now, but it was annoying when it had been advertised with Wifi.
The bathroom downstairs is tiny and off the kitchen, so we all shared the upstairs bathroom in the end – which isn’t really what we planned. Upstairs, there are beams in the bedrooms – so if you’re tall and don’t like to stoop too much, perhaps the Cotswolds Cottages aren’t for you.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this cottage over the August Bank Holiday – but more than a few days might have felt slightly claustrophobic.
