We had a wonderful 9 nights at The Captain's Cabin, it was spotless and very comfortable and warm.

From start of booking to arriving on site was faultless, everything was done without any hassle or problems. The cottage was perfect in every way, comfortable, warm and very well equipped, with the added bonus of private parking, which is much needed in the village now, excellent all round!

Very convenient, neat, well furnished and very comfortable. All facilities were excellent, very comfortable bed, bathroom and shower very good and the sitting areas inside combined with the kitchen excellent. The facilities in the Kitchen were of top quality and the outside area, very cleverly constructed and a pleasure to sit in. Some complication as to if we had a parking place or not,

Captains Cabin, Shaldon

My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable 4 night stay in the Captain’s Cabin last week. Not only is the apartment very well appointed and equipped it is a really comfortable home from home environment, located very close to the centre of the village. Top marks all round!

Lovely clean, spacious well equipped cottage, perfect location, close to beach, restaurants, pubs and cafes, easy access to explore the surrounding area. Great host, left us prosecco and chocolate, a very thoughtful touch, would definitely recommend this property and will definitely return.

1/5 — Misrepresented and Unhealthy StayCaptain’s Cabin in Shaldon was nothing like advertised. We arrived with no access code, found the flat damp, mouldy, and full of spiders, and spent days with no hot water and a faulty flashing light above the bed. The “Smart TV” didn’t work, several fixtures were broken, and the hosts entered multiple times — one visit unannounced. When we asked for a fair partial refund, they offered only 10% and then went silent after implying it depended on us not posting a bad review. The property was unhealthy, unsafe, and badly misrepresented — avoid until Vrbo investigates
Mold and Mildew growing throughout the property, disguised by air fresheners
Spiders everywhere especially in the bathroom
Peeling paint throughout property caused by untreated rising damp
Damp, peeling walls triggering allergies

Sticks and stones . . any potential customer will be able to read all our other reviews to understand that The Captain’s Cabin is truly a little gem in the beautiful fishing village of Shaldon. We had been warned about customers threatening to give a bad review unless an enormous discount is given. Beware.

Lovely special place

We had a great stay at the ground floor apartment. Everything is on your doorstep. The accommodation was clean and welcoming, with a great kitchen area and there was a special thoughtful treat upon arrival of fizz and chocs. Weather was warm and sunny and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! Would highly recommend 🤗👍😊
