About this property

Romantic Highland hideaway - Baltinna East Lodge

The Baltinnas (each sleeping 2) are a pair of adjoining but completely separate lodge style properties. Baltinna East is a perfect getaway for couples.

The acclaimed Scottish architects that designed Baltinna created a beautiful light filled contemporary space in East with the use of partially open, double-height living room to great effect.

With wood-burning stove and oak floors, there is an open-plan modern kitchen/dining area. The well equipped kitchen area has dishwasher, washing machine, full oven, hob, microwave, freezer and fridge. East also benefits form some nice practical touches like a separate utility/drying room with pulley - really useful for the hikers, bikers, wild swimmers and kayakers who enjoy staying here all year round. TV in living space with Freesat and DVD player with selection of DVDs. There is a stylish wet room with shower, wc and wash hand basin downstairs.

The first floor bedroom (with kingsize bed) looks down on the dining area below, and has wooden beams strung with romantic twinkly lights. As a subtle nod to the cabin/lodge styling of Baltinna you'll find mountain and ski memorabilia & art throughout. There are very large roof windows with electric blinds, and a seat upstairs too to enjoy a book from the extensive library of Scottish and local reference books that we have carefully selected for you, or listen to music on the portable JBL bluetooth speakers. There is also a wash hand basin with plenty of space for toiletries in the bedroom. Wooden floors with Persian rugs add extra character and cosiness.

Outside there's a small sitting out area, and front and back garden to make the most of the light and sun all day long - perfect for our long Highland summer evenings. Guests love both Baltinna East and Baltinna West and they have exceedingly high feedback ratings. Parking and secure bike store (for exclusive use for guests staying in Baltinna East) on site.

Baltinna East is fantastic value for couples and solo travellers who don’t want or need to book a multiple bedroom, larger and pricier holiday home only to use a small part of it.

This fabulous property is 4 star Visit Scotland quality assurance rated. Baltinna is part of the tiny and exclusive portfolio in Newtonmore that were recent winners of the prestigious Highlands & Islands Best Self Catered Accommodation Award.
Electric central heating throught and logs provided for the super Scandinavian woodburner.

1 well-behaved dog very welcome - wooden floors throughout and a large porch for muddy boots make it particularly dog-friendly and great for walkers & outdoorsy folk, please just let us know when booking if you are bringing your dog. Fabulous dog-walking straight from the door including the 10km orbital Wildcat Trail.

Newtonmore has a well-stocked Co-op supermarket (open daily 7am til 10pm). There is also a post office, pharmacy, barbers, Tweed shop, gift shop, two or three pubs or hotel bars that serve good food, 2 or 3 lovely cafes, an all-day Grill, a petrol station (with convenience store) a takeaway and a restaurant. 3 cashpoints (village hall, co-op and petrol station).
