We had an amazing time. The camp is beautiful. Cozy and gorgeous. Kids swam in the pond everyday. Close to coast for easy day trips. Mary was an amazing host. Hard to leave.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this classic lakeside cabin. Like others, we spent all of our time on the porch! The house was well stocked and owner was very responsive. The lake was beautiful and clear, perfect for swimming, kayaking, and relaxing next to!
We love everything about this cottage and could stay all summer here! The water was perfect for swimming and we enjoyed the frogs, fireflies, fish, and of course the cry of the loons! Thank you Mary & Logan for another memorable week in Maine!
This rental was beyond amazing! I had a wide range of ages staying there with me (5+). We were all busy fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, bike riding and watching the loons and eagles from the front porch all week. We never had to leave. It was so relaxing. I would definitely book this rental again.
Our week of relaxation at Young's Cottage on Togus Pond
Young's Cottage on Togus Pond has been a special getaway for my Friend Nancy, our dogs and me. My second visit and Nancy's first. All the amenities of home and more...like the screened in porch! That porch is feet away from the water. We had loons every day and evening come by to welcome us. One word for Mary and Logan's Cottage is "Serene". We spent most of our time on the Porch. We always had our morning coffee outside in the morning air. There are two smaller beds on the porch that you can take an afternoon nap if you need. My friend loved the porch so much she slept on it for most of our nights."Just like camping outside without the bugs! Thank you Mary & Logan for sharing your cottage with us. A little peace of Heaven. Wonderful Memories we will always Treasure!
Be well and stay safe. Nancy, Rizzo, Linda and Bentley.
This was our third stay at Togus Pond (our second this year). We felt like we had the pond to yourselves, it was so quiet. The cottage is very clean and well stocked. Mary, the owner, is always helpful. Wish we could stay again!
This cottage has everything that you need for a relaxing and peaceful vacation by a nice and quiet small lake. Mary has stocked the cottage incredibly well, with more than one would need to provide as a vrbo rental, including many kitchen items. The window aircon was much appreciate for the 2 weeks that we were there given it was in the nineties. The porch as others have said is where you will spend 90% of your time when in the house, the other rooms are good, but the porch is huge and overlooks the lake. As with all older cottages, it has its quirks, such as mainly older 2 pronged outlets, but Mary provides extension cords and adapters to make it work. The yard is open to the lake, and no neighbors on either side make it a quiet location. Definitely recommend
Great location and right on the water. There is no TV so if that’s important to you, bring some tech. WiFi was great and reliable. We really enjoyed the screened porch - such a relaxing setting. Also appreciate that the cottage was dog friendly. I love being able to bring my dogs along.
Great place to stay whether you are looking for a home base while you explore the many wonders of Maine or want a quiet lakeside retreat. The screened porch is fabulous! If you head north on Route 3, be sure to try John's Ice Cream Factory in Liberty.
This was our second year at the cottage on Togus Pond. We loved it every bit as much as the first time. It's super clean, has everything you need, and the owner, Mary, is great!
Wish we were there right now!
When we first got to the cabin, we dropped our bags and groceries on the porch and walked right out to the pond to take in the sunset. Muted pinks and sapphires of the sky reflected in the calm water. Birds and bugs of all shapes and sizes swooped down and back up into the trees. By nightfall, we were enjoying our dinner (local fiddleheads & scallops) on the covered porch and listening to the loons. Logan & Mary’s place is a gem in the woods - both inside and outside the cabin doors. We love the creaking wooden floors, the sweeping staircase, the vintage sink, birds’s nest outside the kitchen doors, cozy upstairs bedrooms with views of the pond... This cabin has been lovingly preserved with a mix of old world and modern conveniences - think brick fireplace, wood paneled ceilings along with a dishwasher and well-stocked kitchen. We loved exploring the woods and marshes all day and coming home to a shower and clean linens.
Thank you for our week in Maine!
Lovely, quiet, picturesque. Felt very comfortable, safe and cozy in this house. It had everything we needed for a great week of relaxation. Truly a lake cottage experience—we will return as soon as we can get away again!
Old school lake house with great views, quiet, fire pit, nice porch. What more do you need? Kind and responsive owners as well. Loved my stay, will return.
Our stay was absolutely lovely! The cabin was so charming and cozy. Cleanliness was fantastic, check-in was easy, and we were provided with all the amenities we could ask for. I would absolutely book this cabin again next year!
I would recommend this place to anyone! Such a lovely place for a vacation! Our expectations were exceeded when we got there. What a beautiful view right from the house! Had such a great relaxing time and we will definitely be going back!!
We had a wonderful stay! The house was well stocked with anything you may have forgotten. The view was incredible! The fall weather was perfect! I would recommend to everyone! Can't wait for our next stay!!
My husband and I came here for our 10 year anniversary. Logan and Mary have been wonderful to work with. Coming from Ohio, we knew we would forget something. They have everything you can think of and things that didn't cross our minds. It was so nice to see and hear the loons and ducks calling each other and listening to the waves of the lake. Cannot wait to come back with the kids!
Fantastic socially-distant spot to vacation with incredible nature all around
We had a wonderful socially-distant vacation - you can spend all of your time at this lovely cabin and see new things every day. I braved the cold water by stepping right into Togus Pond and going for a quick wade. A beaver jumped into the water with me and swam past. We saw an incredible array of fall colors and a spectacular rainbow all from the porch.
Cool place with great lake view and access. Charming place with modern amenities. Feels so remote and private, but is located conveniently close to Augusta. Would definitely stay again.

About the host
Hosted by Mary MacDonald-Murray
Logan and Mary are a physician and a school office administrator, respectively, parents of three children, who live in Freeport, Maine, but love to visit our camp on Young's Point.
Why they chose this property
This is a family home, built by Logan's great-great-grandfather on land that's been in our family since the late 1800s. It was insulated and winterized in the late 1980s, with a drilled well installed in 1992 and a new septic system in 1999; the furnace, which provides hot water as well as heat, was replaced in 2019. The location is private, with no immediate neighbors, on a well-maintained gravel road.
What makes this property unique
Augusta is Maine's state capital, with local attractions such as historic Fort Western and the Maine State Museum, both ideal for kids and history buffs. The Maine coast, including Portland, is about an hour away. This spot on Togus Pond is an ideal starting point for day trips to many different places in Maine, as well as a great spot to spend a relaxing day.
