About this property

Cotswold Way Cottage, Rodborough - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

Sitting on the edge of Rodborough Common near Stroud, Cotswold Way Cottage is a wonderful bolthole retreat. Perfectly located opposite the local pub it is a comfortable home from home where you can explore the country footpaths or stay cosy in front of the fire and relax.

Full of character this cottage has been furnished with a mix of colourful modern sofas and original features including a bread oven. The open-plan living room has a sitting area in front of a modern woodburner and a fully-equipped and well laid out kitchen area. A charming unit sits beneath the hob with hare shaped handles and carved wooden doors. To the rear of the ground floor is a dining room with a seating area and TV. Sitting four the dining table gives space to enjoy meals together and there is a chaise longue where you can relax and catch up on unmissable TV. Up the stairs are two stunning double bedrooms with beautiful soft furnishings and a fully-equipped bath and shower room with antique style fittings.

Outside is a courtyard garden which is currently being renovated and will be available from April 2023. A number of footpaths lead into and across Rodborough Common and a path follows a route to Stroud across the fields down to the River Frome.

Open-Plan Living Room/Kitchen:
Entering the cottage, you step into the open-plan living room which leads to the kitchen area. This is a space where you can while away your time in front of the petit but powerful wood-burning stove whilst reading a lovely book or getting lost in conversation. The two comfortable mustard yellow armchairs and matching two-seater sofa ensure you will be able to relax in style with a glass of your favourite drink while taking in the valley view.

A low wooden beam divides the sitting area from the classic country kitchen. It is fully equipped with a four-burner gas hob that sits within a lovely antique wooden unit with adorable carvings and handles. A single electric oven alongside the hob will enable the chef of your party to prepare meals for you using the stunning local produce you have found during the day. The kitchen has everything you will need with crockery and cutlery and even a Hotel Chocolat Dualit machine is close at hand for coffee lovers. You will not fail to notice the original bread oven and decorative stove making a lovely feature in the kitchen.

Dining Room/Snug:
Up the three stone steps and passing a side door to the garden is the dining room and snug. This is a secluded retreat to get a little quiet time. As your main dining area there is a four-seater table and chairs, but there is also a desk for those that need to catch up with a little work.

Sitting comfortably on the green chaise longue you can enjoy your favourite TV programme and the cupboard here houses a nice selection of games to keep everyone happy.

Taking the eye-catching leopard print carpeted stairs with handrails on the left up to:

Bedroom One:

With soft sage green decor and sumptuous bedding you will not find it difficult to get cosy and are bound to have a fantastic night's sleep. Bedside tables and lamps are to each side of the bed to read your favourite book by.

Bathroom:
With a lovely bath that has a shower over and a separate shower cubicle, this is a bathroom that is certainly well equipped. The heated towel rail will ensure the towels are toastie after your relaxing bath surrounded by antique-styled fittings and a feature upcycled mirror unit.

Bedroom Two:
Three steps up from the landing is the second double bedroom. With soft green furnishings, plump bedding and complementary cushions, this will be another room to easily become comfortable within. For anyone not wanting to immediately jump into the inviting double bed there is a perfectly proportioned antique reading chair that is sure to be a place where time just disappears.

A lovely cosy cottage for a great weekend break
A great cosy cottage. Lovely host. Great walks nearby. Close to pubs and the town centre. A great weekend break that we really enjoyed.

Weekend Getaway
We were there with our family and our newborn. The cottage is perfect for 4 adults. The location is ideal close to many Cotswold trails and other villages close by as well. Belinda was a perfect host and on extremely responsive to any questions we had. One thing to note is the parking is a little away.

Beautiful, homey and very clean
We loved it! The cottage is the cleanest place we’ve ever stayed in. Very comfortable, it felt like home. It has everything one might need. Very easy check-in and check-out process. The owner was readily available through text and email and very accommodating, we arrived earlier than the check-in time and had no issues. Location was perfect for what we needed. A quirk about the area: getting a ride. There’s no Uber and the taxi companies work by pre booking, so you most likely will be left without a ride if you didn’t call ahead.

A perfect stay
This is a lovely cottage, immaculately presented and furnished with great taste and care. The host is super friendly, welcoming and helpful, and helped to make our stay relaxing and truly pleasurable. There's so much to see and do in and around Stroud for every taste and budget, and the supplied guide sheet is a great start. Unreservedly recommended.
