About this property
Quarry Lodge, Lydney - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
Reaching the end of your journey, you will find yourself awestruck by the surroundings of Quarry Lodge. To each side of the track there are miles of trees and hilltops beyond. Nestled on the edge of the treeline near a lake, you first notice the silence of your setting before you enter your holiday home.
Inside, the meandering ground floor creates separated living spaces with plenty of space for your whole group in each. From the entrance the house flows into the kitchen and dining area, perfectly positioned for enjoying the view. The spacious living room branches off from the central hallway and has high ceilings, a wood burner, and a large comfortable corner sofa which you can't resist sinking into and taking a deep breath as you relax. All you can see from here is trees making it feel as though you are in another world. There are three bedrooms including one on the ground floor which can be a king-size double or a twin room, which helps to provide sleeping arrangements to suit everybody. Upstairs you really feel as though you are in a treehouse in the bedrooms and the modern family bathroom has a bathtub and rainfall shower.
Stepping out to the fully enclosed garden you’ll enjoy the freshness of the country air. To the side of the parking area is a separate utility with WC, keeping the noise of the washing machine from disturbing your evenings. Alongside the lawn and gravelled area is a secluded patio where you’ll find the hot tub* where you can relax in the bubbles looking out to the lake feeling invisible to the rest of the world. You will also find a games room with a pool table and table tennis, an amazing addition to your holiday here. Walks lead from the door and there are many outdoor activities on offer in the Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat nearby.
Ground Floor
Kitchen/Dining Room: The spacious kitchen/diner includes an entrance hall to the side where you first step into Quarry Lodge. This light and airy space with fresh white walls and wooden floors has patio doors out to the garden overlooking the trees and lake beyond. With a dining table seating six and a well-equipped kitchen which has the best views to enjoy while you do the washing up, this is a wonderful space for preparing meals after a country walk.
Living Room: Passing a side entrance and down one step, the living room is at the back of the house. Decorated in natural tones it brings the colours of the outdoors in. A wood burner in a painted grey surround is the main feature of this room creating a warming atmosphere for evenings in. You can really get away from it all and there is space for everybody to stretch out on the corner sofa and armchairs.
Bedroom One: This ground-floor super king-size double enjoys the peace at the end of the cottage. It can be split to be two single beds on request. Furnished with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables you have enough space to pack your belongings away and feel at home. There is also a feature pink armchair where you can enjoy the view while flicking through a magazine.
First Floor
From the eye-catching turquoise hallway, stairs take you up to the family bathroom and two more bedrooms.
Bedroom Two: The first king-size double to the right of the stairs is the smallest of the rooms but this doesn't take away from its luxurious qualities. The soft bedding will ease you to sleep, and there is a wardrobe and bedside tables for storage.
Family Bathroom: The large family bathroom has a modern touch with geometric floor tiles and white walls. A rainfall shower and separate bath, WC and sink ensure you have everything you need.
Bedroom Three: The final king-size double features a decorative fireplace in the same colours as the living room fire. Well-furnished with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables this spacious room is a lovely spot to relax at the end of the day.
Outside
The enclosed garden is a safe space for children and dogs and a side gate takes you out into the wilderness of the forest with walking routes around the lake. To one side is a secluded patio where you will find the hot tub* where you can take a dip and feel at one with nature.
External Games Room: An outhouse by the parking area acts as a games room and utility. There is a pool table and table tennis so there's plenty to keep you entertained even on rainy days. There is also a washing machine, tumble dryer and WC here.

Comfortable house on a nice location.
We had a lovely time at Quarry Lodge. The house is very spacious and comfortable and lies beautifully in a valley of the Lydney Park estate. We booked the hot tub too which proved to be a very relaxing experience in September, looking out over the fields and forrest. There are several pubs and restaurants nearby that serve good food but be aware that they don’t serve food on Sunday afternoon.

A great cottage in a fantastic location
We loved this cottage it fulfilled our needs for what we wanted in a holiday.
The cottage is lovely and the secured garden was great for our aging dogs.
I would have appreciated some cleaning products and extra bin bags - but I always bring cleaning wipes away with me.
It would have been handy if the garden parasol was replaced as I received a message that it had broken - It would have come in handy with the hot weather.
But we had a fantastic time and hope to visit again

Comfortable cottage in lovely location
This is a lovely stylish cottage in a great location with lovely views and walks from the doorstep. All the bedrooms are good. Only downside is only one bathroom for six people.
Beautiful house in wonderful countryside, we had a lovely stay. The only issue we had is with the hot water (there didn’t seem to be enough for the 6 of us) and lack of indoor downstairs loo/bathroom. Other than that would highly recommend.
Great house in a peaceful location overlooking the forest valley. Would be happy to book the house again if coming back to this area.

Beautiful location and accommodation
We have just returned from a beautiful weekend away at this property for my dad’s 70th birthday.
The property is really lovely as is the location.
Prior to the visit the housekeeper Tracey was so accommodating and helpful too.
The only downside is one bathroom and for 6 guests there was often a queue for toilet or shower!
Apart from that highly recommend!

Stunning place to stay.
Stayed, 6 adults, a 1 year old and 2 dachshunds for 4 nights in June.
Beautiful accommodation in stunning setting.
All rooms are an excellent size, furnished to a high standard. Comfortable beds and enough seating in the living room fit everyone.
Unfortunately I didn’t get to use the games room. There is a laundry room in an out building with additional toilet, having another toilet was essential as 6 adults and 1 bathroom in the main house often ment a que forming.
We found the remote control for the tv would not always work but just downloaded an app on the phone did the trick. We felt it wasn’t enough to bother our hosts with.
The hot tub was very warm and relaxing. Not over looked at all.
The garden was big enough and secure for our dogs and little one to run and play.
The place is lovely and the setting surpassed our expectations. The valley and trees surrounding the property were stunning. We would definitelty stay again.

A perfect place
To say that some guests were rebooking for 2025 whilst travelling home to Cambridgeshire says it all.
Outstanding property and the surroundings were ideal, especially if you take a dog with you. The walks straight from the property were perfect for our energetic water loving Cocker Spaniel. We will definitely be back!

Amazing view from the hot tub!
Quarry Lodge is spacious, well decorated, well furnished and very comfortable. The location is perfect if you want to get away from it all. Can fully recommend paying for the hot tub as it's perfect with a view of the surrounding trees. Great base for exploring the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. We hope to return!
Honestly if we could give it 10
Stars we would, it was just a little piece of chilled out Paradise. The photos absolutely do not do the scenery justice. It’s a stunning home in a gorgeous setting. We can’t wait to go back!

A great stay at Quarry Lodge
Lovely location for the property, really quiet and relatively remote which is what we wanted. Great dog walks right on the door step (literally).
Property was in great condition, hot tub was nice and the games room was a great addition.
Housekeeper was easy to contact with a couple of questions.
A fantastic stay and we would return.
