About this property
The Beacon- coastal home in St Monans
The Beacon is a spacious and well equipped home from home in the charming fishing village of St Monans. Located on a quiet street at the top of the brae (hill) it's perfectly located to have you on the coastal path or at the quaint harbour front in just a minute's easy stroll.
The Beacon is a lovely family home, with comfortable furnishings throughout. It has two bedrooms; a spacious double and a bright and airy twin room accommodating up to four guests. Set over two levels, there is a family lounge with wood burning stove which has french doors opening through to the modern fitted kitchen with dining area on the ground floor There is a separate WC, utility room where you can easily store golf clubs, wellies and walking shoes and access to the enclosed courtyard to the rear which has garden furniture. The shower room is on the half landing of the staircase to the upper level, where both bedrooms are found. The twin room looks out over the garden area to the 'mair' behind, which is the village greenspace with playpark, tennis courts and open grass area. Well behaved pets are most welcome by prior arrangement, and the area is very dog friendly.
Guests will be contacted prior to arrival with check in details. We stay locally so can be on hand to answer any questions/provide assistance as required.
The East Neuk is a string of fishing villages connected by the coastal path. A long time favourite with families, keen walkers and golfers it offers something for everyone. The laid back lifestyle and gentle pace of life makes it a super choice for a relaxing and quiet stay by the sea. There is a range of cafes, bistros, bars, restaurants and fine dining restaurants throughout the East Neuk. The area and many of its facilities and visitor attractions are dog friendly. There is a vibrant arts community with festivals and pop up galleries as well as a lively music scene. Local producers are stocked and celebrated by independent and artisan shops and local farmer and food & drinks markets.

Thank you for your kind review. We are glad you made the most of your time whilst here. The Bowling Green does open at weekends for locals and visitors, sometimes it has a quiz night, but there is no pub in the village any more. There are a couple in Pittenweem and more in Anstruther and Crail, and the local bus service is really handy for getting people home again. We hope you get a chance to return in the future for another short stay.
Cosy, spotlessly clean house with a twinkling Christmas tree to welcome us! Other thoughtful touches were a supply of tea and coffee with tasty shortbread and Santa napkins- thank you! With wonderful coastal walks our two dachshunds were also delighted with their stay.
This was a lovely wee house to stay in for exploring the East Neuk. We spent a week here and found it was a great central location. House was pretty comfortable and had pretty much everything we could have required. The only thing letting it down was that although the floors had been swept/vacuumed, they hadn't been mopped very well as our bare feet became pretty grubby after walking around on them. The duvets were also quite thick, so access to thinner summer alternatives would have been handy too. These points didn't detract too much from our stay though and we would stay here again.
The property is spotless although a dated feel inside. The log fire is great. Handy having dishwasher and washing machine. St Monans is stunning and it’s an easy, beautiful walk to Pittenweem. Careful about where you park, if you park behind the house you run the risk of a neighbour parking across your rear in a show of? Annoyance? Aggression? Arrogance? Who knows?!!!
