This is a great home for a family gathering! Lots of space, including many different bedrooms that enable privacy. Beautiful backyard that enabled lots of kids to play, and functional back deck enables parents to comfortably watch. We had some challenges with the facilities, but Bill and team did what they could to remedy.

great weekend getaway

This was a great weekend getaway for a small group of friends, with our kids. The house had the amenities we needed, the property allowed for lots of recreation, and it's in great proximity to some good coffee (Summit Coffee!) and hikes.

Came to celebrate my sisters bachelorette and this was the perfect spot. A nice bed for everyone, plenty of bathrooms, and my favorite part is the front porch and heater access. I would recommend this place to everyone with a large group in Asheville.

It's a great, unique home on a beautiful property. Bill and his assistant are very easy to communicate with and helped with there were a few issues. Comfortable beds and baths, convenient location. Was neat to wake up every morning and see turkeys in the lawn.

Beautiful Home for Family Reunion

Our family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful family home! My parents, three siblings & their spouses, and our nine children found plenty of space to cook, play, rest, explore, and enjoy each others’ company. Favorites included walks to the lookout, playing in the yard, fires on the patio, spacious comfortable rooms, lots of bathrooms, and cooking together in the kitchen. Bill was an awesome host! We can’t recommend this place enough!

Great place for a reunion!

We are a group of friends, once together on a compound in Saudi Arabia. Now scattered across America! So nice to get away from our busy lives and reminisce and laugh together! And this place is ideal for just that! Charming, quaint and comfortable! And management of our booking was superior! I highly recommend this charming home!

Good location/ great host/ historic home

Step back in time and enjoy the idiosyncrasies of this older home. Many bedrooms but some are odd. William is a super host. It would have gotten 5 stars if the fireplace was cleaned out, if there were some foam pillows, and more firewood.

Wonderful Historic Home

Bills property amazed us in every way! The outside is absolutely stunning! And then going inside it has such a historic charm with touches of modern updates! We loved walking through each room and seeing the different styles of each one. We were celebrating our wedding and there was plenty of room for the 17 of us!! Bill was very responsive and even checked in to make sure we did not need anything! We would 100% book again if we go back with a big group!

Great location

We had our annual girls weekend at Royal Pines and it was a great house for our group. We had a fire on the back patio and turned on the heaters to ward off the mountain chill. We spent a lot of time gathering in the music room with the with a fire in the fireplace. The dinning room was big enough for us to share a meal together or play games. Bill was very responsive to our questions. The house was centrally located to everyplace we wanted to go.

My daughter wanted to stay in a cute cottage, that’s exactly what she got!

We picked this location because our daughter wanted a cute cottage in Asheville to stay in. Our family which is 8 plus her in laws, a family of 9 all stayed here. Other family members stayed at other rentals in the area and we all got together for dinner one evening and still had plenty of room!! We had children ages 6-18 and they all enjoyed playing in the huge yard, with the basketball goal, and many extras in the garage. This property has so much character and history. Well worth every penny. Would definitely return!

Great House for our Mother/Daughter Weekend

We rented this house for a Family Mother/Daughter Weekend. There were a total of 12 Adults plus one child. The house was perfect for our needs. We had one small issue that required some assistance when we first arrived, but I worked with the owner and he was very helpful in getting it resolved quite easily. The house had lots of great rooms for everyone to spread out with great sitting areas. The grounds were beautiful and we even had a flock (?) of beautiful turkeys that kept us company all weekend. 😀😀. If I ever need a large house in the Asheville area again, we will definitely stay here!

Hidden gem!

This tudor property was a dream! Upon very short notice, we were looking for a property that could sleep at least 13 people and that could also serve as a wedding venue. Tudor was the answer! While the house has some quirks that could use updating (which Bill is slowly working on over time!), the charm of the property was mesmerizing. Our family loved exploring the nooks and crannies. The backyard was also the PERFECT backdrop for our wedding. Couldn't have asked for more! It was also fun seeing random wild turkeys and black bears on the property, not to mention stargazing at night. What a view!

If you are looking for charm & character, this is the place for you! If you are in need of accommodating a large group or family, this is your place! Our family carefully searched for a home which would be welcoming & spacious and one which wouldn’t frown upon us hosting a small event (a rehearsal dinner). After making inquiries of the host, we knew we had found the perfect place! This home is very spacious with the charm of yesteryear. Whether gathering outside around the fire or soaking in family chats in the cozy library, there was never a lack of space. The beds were very comfortable & the charming cottage was a delight to decorate for the newlyweds to spend a quick evening in before setting off for Hawai’i. The only thing lacking in this home was the occasional gnome you knew had to be hiding out somewhere on this property! Still, there were turkeys, squirrels & chipmunks to join us on the back patio for morning coffee! Our host was the most accommodating I ever had the pleasure of doing business with! (Thanks, Bill!) -The only word of caution I would make would be for guests to be aware that a few of the sets of stairs can be quite steep and a bit challenging for older guests. We had preassigned rooms prior to arrival, but did switch up to ensure older family members stayed on the main floor to avoid them having to navigate the stairs. It worked perfectly as the main floor bedroom has its own bath w/ handicapped bars. - Overall, this beautiful Tudor home is a 10 of 10!

Autumn in Asheville

What a great trip and home! My fiancé and I always try our hardest to plan a trip with our closest friends once a year, as our lives can be fairly hectic and it can be difficult to catch up. COVID-19 has certainly put a damper on things for everyone, so to say we needed some fresh air and a change of scenery was an understatement to say the least. This place certainly did not disappoint and in fact, this is what we all desperately needed. The home was so fun and quirky that I felt like I was discovering something new about it each day. I have never stayed at a place with so much character in my life! The house was clean, spacious, smelled very nice (despite a previous guest's review) and was all that we had hoped for and more! We had PLENTY of room to run around and enjoy the property. The boys played some basketball, girls sat around and gossiped, and we even made time for an ultimate frisbee game or two in the backyard. Not only that, but we saw several wild turkey, and wait for it... A BEAR while sipping on some morning coffee. Talk about some wildlife watching!!! Location was also great (beautiful for the fall) and very close to restaurants, grocery, and plenty of shopping. Although, our group was honestly having so much at the cottage that we rarely left to do much of anything else! We hope to be back very soon. (:

Property needs TLC

Prior to writing this review I reached out to the owner to share our feedback. Bill however threw everything back at me stating that it was “our responsibility” to report these issues to him. Frankly we were on vacation and for what we paid, this house should have been “ready” for us to enjoy. Upon arrival the owner contacted me to inform of a few items that were not working (the top oven), broken (handrail on staircase) and the musty smell in the cottage. I felt slightly deceived of the last minute information. This home needs attention, there were several lights burned out, the sofa cushions were worn and torn and some of the knobs did not work properly. In the kitchen the silverware drawer falls off track when pulled open that a few times almost fell on our toes. Many cobwebs in the bedrooms and the lower bedroom and cottage smelled musty (even with windows opened the smell would not go away….concerning that we have been breathing in mold) Bill promised me a refund…. which I’m still waiting to see.

Our family had a lovely stay in this beautiful home. We appreciate historic properties, and this gorgeous old Tudor provided lots of enjoyment for all of us. With an old house comes things like bedrooms without closets and sometimes journeying to a bathroom in another part of the house, but we managed all those things in a spirit of cooperation. The outdoor spaces are wonderful with gathering places and also tucked away places for the introverts to get away. Bill is a communicative and attentive host. I highly recommend this house!!

I am the owner of this home and have loved this property for three decades when my best friend purchased the home in the 1990s. He finally sold it to me almost 10 years ago and I have enjoyed raising my 3 kids on this large parcel that is SO close to Asheville, but you feel so far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but it's minutes away if you want to jump into everything the city has to offer.

I have been making constant improvements to the home and property making it an amazing find and one of the most unique homes you'll find in the area. Most recently, the home and garage/barn have been completely painted inside and out. The 5th Bathroom is also completed in the lowest level which provides a common entrance for the 4 bedrooms that don't have their own private bathroom. It's been a real benefit for larger groups.

I'm a single father of 3, own a business in Asheville and got involved in rental property about 15 years ago. This property will be in my family forever and we take excellent care of the grounds and anything that needs attention.

Why they chose this property

This property is very private, it can accommodate large groups and there is plenty of room to spread out inside and out of the home.

SMALL EVENTS may be approved but are limited to 25-30 guests due to space and parking limitations and may incur a small event fee based on booking details and the specifics of the events. Lots of intimate weddings, rehearsal dinners, and small parties.

It is so close to everything Asheville has to offer, all while staying in a century old home that is one of a kind. Keep in touch as all proceeds from this property are going back into continued improvements and amenities.

What makes this property unique

Next to the Main house is a separate cottage that is now included in the rental and a great peaceful get-a-way for newly weds, grandparents, in-laws, or parents with a small child that wants a very quiet and private space...but is only steps from the main house. It has a separate bathroom, kitchen and living room. The front covered porch and the back patio at the cottage are a nice retreat from the main house.
