Alvescot is a pretty village on the edge of the Cotswolds. It benefits from a local pub and a lovely children’s play area as well as picturesque walks to nearby villages. It is a short drive from the pretty village of Bampton which has a butcher, cafe, pub and Co op supermarket. The nearby Ye Olde Swan pub serves excellent pizzas from its wood-fired oven to both eat in and take-away.
Other great gastro pubs a short drive away include The Five Alls at Filkins, The Double Red Duke at Clanfield and The Bell at Langford. Nearby Carterton is a useful hub, with a Morrisons, Aldi and Asda as well as a number of cafes, beauticians and hair salons and a large leisure centre with pool, soft play and trampoline park. The outdoor pool at Filkins is also worth a visit on warm days.
