Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of Perthshire, the quaint towns of Birnam and Dunkeld are a harmonious blend of historical charm and natural beauty. Located on the banks of the River Tay, these twin towns boast a rich heritage dating back centuries. Birnam is famous for its association with Shakespeare`s tragedy, Macbeth, as it is believed to be the location of the Birnam Wood mentioned in the play.
Meanwhile, Dunkeld`s historical significance is evident through its ancient cathedral, a magnificent symbol of medieval architecture. The idyllic setting captivates visitors with its lush forests, rolling hills, and enchanting riverside walks, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts. Theres a good mix of cycling and running routes: trail, road and downhill.

The local community takes great pride in preserving their heritage, evident in the well-preserved architecture, independent shops and traditional festivals that showcase the region`s cultural legacy. Whether strolling through the ancient woodlands or admiring the vistas, Birnam and Dunkeld offer an unforgettable and immersive experience of Scotland`s enduring past and breathtaking landscapes.

Right across from the apartment you can find Birnam Arts, the perfect spot for a delicious brunch, theatre production or arts exhibition. Take a wander round Beatrix Potter`s museum and garden before walking down to the river to admire the view across the silvery Tay of one of the writer`s holiday browsing the extensive shelves of the Birnam Reader bookshop whilst relaxing with an afternoon coffee and brownie then pop a few doors down to the Birnam Studio and Gallery to pick up a framed print or painting.
Nearby is Erigmore park with a fantastic heated swimming pool. The Birnam village store and Post Office shop have excellent supplies of all basics plus locally grown vegetables, fruit and eggs, Dunkeld has a local butcher, several bakeries and delis with wide selection of products and a large range of supermarkets are available in Perth, some 12 miles away. The fresh fish van from the East Neuk of Fife visits on a Tuesday and Thursday and stops just outside Birnam Arts.

There is a private reserved parking spot directly in front of the property as well as plenty of on street parking and car parks in both Birnam and Dunkeld. There are many nearby pubs, restaurants and activities just a few minutes walk from this property.
There are also numerous cycling routes and trails, so bikes are a great option. For those looking to explore more of Perthshire, we are located right beside the local train station (5 minute walk ) a 3 minute walk to the bus stop serving local routes (including direct buses to Inverness and Edinburgh) and situated just a turn off from the A9, leading you to all major cities within Scotland.

You are just a 10 minute walk over the bridge to the world famous Dunkeld, with recommended eateries such as the Taybank Hotel, Redwood Wines and Aran Bakery (owned by Flora Shedden, a contestant on The Great British Bake Off!). Have a look at these places on social media, they are high quality personal favourites.
