Caldbeck is a picturesque village in the heart of the Caldbeck Fells. The village is the ideal base from which to explore the northern Lake District with Bassenthwaite Lake, Dodd Wood, Ashness Bridge, Whinlatter Forest with mountain bike and Gruffalo trails, Go Ape and The Lake District Wildlife Park all within a 15 minute drive. Keswick with numerous attractions, shops, bars, restaurants and Derwentwater where lake cruises can be enjoyed is less than half an hours drive.

Greenside Cottage overlooks the village green and duck pond in an enviable location in Caldbeck. Accessed through the walled front garden the cottage has night storage heaters and underfloor heating in the shower room and comprises: Living room with traditional features with beams and seating around the open fire and TV. The beamed dining/kitchen is well equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave and washing machine.

The first floor has a master double and twin bedroom with a TV in the twin. Shower room with hand basin and WC.

All electric, initial supply of coal for the open fire, bed linen and towels provided. Cot available on request. Garden with patio area with seating and lawned garden.

A cozy small cottage

We have stayed in greenside cottage before, it provides a good base to explore the lakes and Cumberland. With a pub and village store within a 5 minute walk. It's off the main road so it's quiet but not in the wilderness, at night the lack of light pollution brings a million stars, and it's only a handful of miles from the wild ponies and deer of the Mungrisdale valley. That said, a bit of minor maintenance/updating wouldn't go a miss.

Lovely cottage in picture perfect village

Lovely cottage, very comfortable beds, sofas and well appointed kitchen. Owner was very efficient in getting immediate help with a drainage issue, and the village store, the dairy milk vending machine, the Muddy Duck cafe and the local pub were fantastic reasons to stay around the area, although we were well situated for Keswick, Hadrian's Wall and Derwent Water. Highly recommend feeding the neighbouring ducks in the pond.

Cottage is situated in a lovely spot. We have stayed before however it has gone downhill since then

Cottage is in a lovely area and plenty walks on your doorstep. Garden is great and secure for dogs. The cottage has no grill pan and only 2 oven trays but we didn’t report due to the festive period. Cleaning was disappointing since last time we stayed and has gone a bit downhill since in our opinion. The other problem we had was that the loo was blocked on the first evening , having contacted the agents, they arranged United Utilities via the owner to attend. Unfortunately, United Utilities advised it was not their problem as they had been called out to similar issues before here and was apparent that previous Guests had flushed large wipes down the loo and totally blocked it. They advised we could try hosing out the blockage and we felt we had no choice, as a loo is a necessity and we were unable to use it. This was disgusting so I would advise to check the loo flush doesn’t rise when you arrive as this was the tell tale sign!! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY ANYONE WOULD FLUSH ANY KIND OF WIPE DOWN A LOO
