About this property

Stay Inside Yosemite National Park in Wawona! Close to Mariposa Grove!

IMPORTANT: We do not accept third party bookings. The person whose name is on the reservation must be staying at the property.

We no longer accept dogs or other pets, no exceptions.

$375 per night for 2 - 6 guests, plus 13.5% county tax, $120 housekeeping fee and VRBO's fee.

This 2 bedroom, 2 bath home sleeps up to six guests maximum. We cannot accomodate more than 6 guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking and dining needs, including a dishwasher. The living room has a flat screen satellite TV with local and national channels, a DVD player, and WiFi. The private deck has deck furniture, and a gas BBQ for grilling your favorite meals and eating outside!

Wawona is inside Yosemite National Park, near the south entrance to the park and Mariposa Grove. Enjoy huge swimming holes in the South Fork of the Merced River (walking distance from the house!), hiking to Chilnualna Falls, the historic Wawona Hotel the Wawona Golf Course, Wawona Stables, Swinging Bridge and much more!

Wawona is an hour drive to Yosemite Valley attractions and Glacier Point.

Minimum age of primary renter: 25.

If our cabin and Yosemite are accessible, we do not cancel, modify, or refund reservations based on smoke, which is a very common occurrence in Yosemite each summer. This policy is consistent with all vacation rentals in Yosemite West.

Please note that our house has stairs which may be difficult for elderly folks and small children. We have a vacation home in Yosemite West, the Hummingbird Pines House (VRBO 470093) is more suited to elderly guests as it has only 2 steps into the house and bedrooms on the ground floor.

Minimum stay of 2 nights.

There are two bedrooms, each with one queen size bed. A convertible sofa-bed in the living room sleeps 1 to 2 more guests. Note: we cannot accommodate more than 6 guests at a time.

This house is equipped with a full kitchen and a large dining table. There is a bbq and dining furniture on the deck, which is a wonderful place to enjoy dinner and watch the sunset.

The Hummingbird Pika House has air conditioning, as well as individual room fans.

Load and start the dishwasher
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Please empty all dishes from the dishwasher and put them away.
Please put all trash in the bear-proof dumpsters that are located throughout Wawona. PLEASE DO NOT leave trash bags beside the dumpster – Bears and other animals will scatter your trash everywhere.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please close the barbecue when not in use. Do not leave food, trash or dirty dishes on the deck as this will attract bears.
Please make sure all windows and doors are closed when you leave the house as bears will enter the house through open windows.
Wawona is a High-Risk Fire Area. No Smoking, No Candles, No Incense or ANY other open flames, either inside of the house or on the deck.

I love this property, second time staying here the host are great they are great at communicating and solving issues quickly. The cabin is located at a great location close by a little store and it’s a short walk down the river. Overall I would recommend this cabin to anyone visiting Yosemite national park!

I’ve never been to south Yosemite before. I wasn’t expecting too much being directly in the park. I wasn’t pleasantly surprised with not only the area but the house too. It had everything you needed, it was clean, and the host was willing to help answer any questions I had throughout my stay. I hope to stay here again in the future.

The place is in a great location for easy access to the park. There's a couple close swimming holes. The home was clean, well kept, and in a quiet area. Communication with the host was quick the one time I needed to send a message. The master bed and bath had plenty of space fo us to spread out. I wouldn't hesitate to choose this place again.

We stayed here for four nights as a family of four, and the two-bedroom, two-bathroom layout was perfect for us. The location is also a big plus—about an hour from Yosemite, making it convenient for visiting the park. The A/C units throughout the house kept the rooms comfortable. Unfortunately, the home’s condition did not justify the nearly 2,000 price tag for 4 nights. The living room and bathrooms had musty, moldy odors, the master shower floor was not clean, and the shower drain gurgled whenever the toilet was flushed. The Wi-Fi was extremely slow, making it difficult to browse the internet or even watch local TV. The oven took over 30 minutes to preheat and struggled to reach 350F.While the size and location were great, the home felt very much in need of updates, maintenance and cleaning.

This guest never informed us during their stay that there were any issues with odors or cleanliness. Had we been contacted during her stay, we would have immediately asked our housekeeper come again to clean. AT&T is the wifi provider for Wawona and they do not offer their premium service in the park, so if a group of four with multiple devices is accessing the wifi it is likely to be slower than what those of us living in more populated areas are accustomed to.

Authentic & superb stay at Wawona

So close to Wawona, the Pika house is full of 70’s charm. Spaciously nested just a minutes drive away from the Wawona hotel, we were struck by the high quality vintage decor, look and feel of the property. Would sure stay again, we loved it!!

Hummingbird Pika House is a roomy and comfortable place to stay while touring Yosemite National Park. Our family of four adults slept comfortably and appreciated having a full kitchen and spacious bathrooms. The laundry room is a challenge to find, but a very welcome amenity after a sweaty day of hiking. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. Be sure to stop in at the charming Pine Tree Market. We had trouble with the heating system over our stay. The nights got into the low 60’s in the house as the heating system only put out cold air. The host responded to messages each day, but no one was nearby to assist us. We did get warm air after an online reboot of the system, but it switched back to cold during the night.

We give instructions to get to the laundry room which is in our garage to each guest. Our climate control system does work, and takes care of both heating and AC. We also have clear instructions out for guests on how to use the climate control.

Perfect Location

What a wonderful place to stay while visiting Yosemite! I HIGHLY recommend staying inside the park to avoid the crazy long entry lines each day. This place was perfect. And there are plenty of fun things to do nearby: Chilnualna Falls, the swinging bridge, Wawona History Center and more.

Great spot in the woods

Michelle and Pete's place is the perfect place to get in and out of Yosemite. The listing is exactly as described and we had no problems finding it or getting in. The beds are comfortable and we had everything we needed for the stay. Would stay again for sure!

This place is even nicer than what the pictures show. Fresh wildflowers were placed around the house for an added beautiful touch. Everything we could possibly need for our comfort was available to us. Close proximity to many local attractions. We loved this place.

Wawona

This is a lovely place to stay for a quiet visit to Yosemite. A drive to the valley but worth it as we could escape the crowds and really get away from it all. Good facilities. Handy local shop and delightful dark skies. Highly recommend for a family.

Great location.

We were so happy to be in the park and not have to worry about the entrance lines daily. Did the hike to the waterfall close to the house. The meadow hike was very relaxing. Even played a round of golf.

Great location

The house is in a great location, walkable to market as well as a beautiful waterfall and river area to explore. Peaceful area inside the gate and about 30 minutes to the Valley floor. Great time relaxing and enjoying nature. Kitchen has everything you need.
