About this property

Little Otter Retreat

This quiet lake front cottage built in 2021 located on Little Otter Lake in the Lake James Chain offers the best of both worlds. Little Otter Lake is great for fishing, kayaking and swimming. A fifteen minute boat ride through the Big Otter Lake channel connects you to skiing, tubing and more on Snow Lake, Lake James and Jimmerson Lake. A row boat is included in the rental, however you will need to provide your own speed boat or pontoon boat. Dock space is available upon request.

This single story, 800 square foot home, with 60 feet of lake frontage has all the amenities needed for a great vacation. The interior of the cottage is clean and inviting, with quartz counter-tops, stone fire place, hardwood heated floors and washer and dryer. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, one bathroom with walk-in shower, plenty of closet space and no steps. There is a 320 square foot deck overlooking Little Otter Lake that provides a great view with a retractable awning. Inside, the many windows allow for an outside feel with the comfort of the indoors. There is a private driveway with beautiful landscaping. This is a wonderful way to get away even during the fall and winter months.

Our Little Otter Retreat is located 1 mile from Pokagon State Park which offers tobogganing, hiking, and cross-country skiing. A public access boat ramp is located 1 mile from the cottage. Two local wineries and one brewery are within 5 miles as well as a variety of local and chain restaurants.

The cottage has both shaded and sunny areas while the beach is firm and great for swimming. Little Otter lake is known for great fishing and Tri-State Bait and Tackle is only 0.2 miles away. Potawatomi Snowmobile trails with 35 miles of trails, are 7 miles away.

Went for work and somehow still felt like a vacation!

I booked this for a work trip, and somehow it still felt like a vacation reset when I left! The cabin is lovely, cozy, and so clean. The hosts were wonderful! We saw otters, caught baby turtles, rowed the boat and took in the views. Thank you for a wonderful trip, Little Otter Retreat!

We love our little Lake Cottage. We are both teachers at local schools here in Indiana and love time away at the lake. We have been on the Lake James Chain through relatives for over 35 years. However the Little Otter Retreat is a place we can call our own.

Why they chose this property

This property offers everything you would want in a cottage. From the quiet shores of Little Otter Lake to the fun and excitement of Lake James, this 60 foot of lake frontage property has it all. We love the beach which is great for swimming, and fishing off the dock. Inside is neat, open, and inviting with great views of the lake along with an amazing deck with awning. Everything is new, clean and modern.

What makes this property unique

Little Otter is a great fishing lake and is accessible to five additional lakes. It is also one mile away from the entrance to Pokagon State Park. The cottage was built in 2020 with a new appliances and a modern feel. It is cozy, comfortable, and a perfect get-a-way home for two.
