Our weekend away at The Lodge in Sugar Hollow was nothing short of AMAZING! The host’s communication was exceptional from beginning to end, the property was beautiful and clean, the kitchen was fully stocked, the beds were comfortable, and there was more than enough room for our large party to spread out. We will definitely rent this lodge again!
The place was clean and spacious. Plenty of room for everyone from bedrooms to bathrooms to common areas. Great views from the patio looking at the mountains. Would definitely rent again if we visit the area again.
Great on space with a full kitchen and wonderful large soaking tubs. The balcony felt light me you were in a treehouse many deer and rabbit. I also saw many birds.

Nature surrounded us. Great place for large group. Fun group hangout areas (pool table, veranda and bar), but you could also ‘step away’ from your crowd if you felt you wanted to.
Location was further than we thought but was so worth it to have all kinds of wildlife running through every morning. The Lodge is very spacious & makes it easy to not always have to be around everyone. Bonnie is a fantastic host!
Our stay could not have been better. Every amenity that you could want was provided. The Lodge is huge and very comfortable. We are looking for an "excuse" to book it again for our family. Perfect reunion spot!
This house has a well appointed kitchen with all the items needed for a large group, open floor plan, plenty of space for at least 30 people to visit. The heat works great, there is a nice walking area just outside the door, and the beds were so comfortable.
About 20-25 minutes from UVA, so convenient for UVA graduation and a lovely location. The entire upstairs is a common area with plenty of room for everyone and a pool table. Particularly glad that the home had a spacious refrigerator.
The house was perfect for our group of 8 adults. Property is dated but it is HUGE and well maintained with plenty of space for relaxing or having everyone in 1 area. We had a great time and would recommend this house. Thanks!!
We just loved our stay! Its a beautiful place! There was room for everyone. The rooms were large and the beds were very comfortable. Enough bathrooms and towels with no waiting. The kitchen was well stocked with all your cooking needs. Plenty of space to eat for a large crowd. We loved sitting out on the terrace with our drinks. A perfect view of the mountains and deer in the yard. Everything was very clean and everything worked well. Check-in was easy and appreciated after a 14 hour drive. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for peace and harmony.
This was a beautiful time capsule of a mountain lodge! It will take you back to simplier times with a gorgeous view. We had 10 adults/5 couples for my wife's 40th birthday and it was great space for all with amble entertainment areas. Would be suitable for famikies too. We will definitely plan to return!
The Lodge in Sugar Hollow was a perfect base for an early fall hiking and fishing adventure for my two brothers and me. The cabin is extremely spacious, with four good-sized bedrooms including two king MBRs with ensuite baths. An enormous bar with enough glassware for an army anchors the great room. The pool table was a nice touch as well. Perfect location for fishing or hiking on the Moormans River.
The Lodge is SPACIOUS and a bit REMOTE... just what we wanted/needed for our Christmas together. We did a lot of cooking... the kitchen is as well stocked as any rental we've ever stayed in. Bedrooms are big and the baths are unusually PINK... all of 4.5 of them! Games, puzzles, TV, and fireplaces gave all seven of us something to do. The adult kids visited two wineries too. We enjoyed our togetherness at the Lodge!
The lodge is big, spacious and comfortable. There is great privacy in the bedrooms along with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy sitting areas, exercise equipment, pool table, and fire pit outside. Our family of 7 spent a lot of time on the upper terrace overlooking the spectacular mountains. The enormous kitchen was very well equipped, and we appreciated the high chair and other baby items. Sugar Hollow is a beautiful area for trout fishing, exploring, and excellent hikes into and around Shenandoah National Park. We definitely plan to visit again!
Property was spacious and clean. I loved that it was decorated nicely for Christmas. Beautiful tree and tasteful decorations in the main living area. Location was great for outside walks. Beds were comfy. We all enjoyed ourselves. My only note would be to update the bathrooms. They are a little sad and don't seem to match the price point of the rental. Other than that, 5 stars.

It was great having Courtney and her family/friends as our guests
From the moment we completed our booking, Bonnie(the property owner) was incredibly attentive and helpful. Anything we needed, she handled promptly and courteously. She was also genuinely funny and generous with her time, which made the entire experience feel personal and welcoming. That level of care was honestly one of the best parts of staying at The Lodge of Sugar Hollow. The property itself is stunning. The wraparound porch offers beautiful views from every angle, making it hard to pick a favorite spot to sit and relax. Inside, the home is equally impressive. The AC worked perrfectly and kept the house warm and cozy during our stay, and the fireplace added a great atmosphere, especially with the fantastic bar area directly across from it. It's an ideal setup for gathering with friends or family. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and entertain, and the refrigerator is enormous(great for larger groups). Plenty of bathrooms and an onsite laundry were awesome. The house is close to a decent grocery store and surrounded by excellent wineries. It's also an easy, scenic drive to Charlottesville or to Skyline Drive. The style and decor reflect an older, classic motif, but that's part of what makes the place feel so special. It felt comfortable and welcoming, like a home with real character rather than a generic rental with wall to wall vinyl flooring and IKEA furniture. We absolutely loved our stay and will be coming back again.
Wonderful house with lots of room and beautiful views! I was surprised how well stocked the kitchen was. We didn’t cook but definitely could have. Great house for a family or friend gathering.
Be careful of ticks though. I forgot about this but later found mosquito/tick repellent in the laundry room (shortly before we left).
The bathrooms are well maintained but look like they are from the 70’s. It surprised us based upon how the rest of the house looks.
Unfortunately we couldn’t get the gas grill to work but the owner offered to come look at it but we were so busy that we decided to change plans and just eat out. The host is very easy to reach and great with communication.
We had a lovely time! It’s a beautiful area!
What an amazing property! Plenty of room for 8 adults. Fully stocked kitchen, multiple family rooms, fireplaces, dining room for 8, and pool table. Plus beautiful views from every room. Couldn’t asked for anything more.
The Lodge had everything the eight of us needed for cooking, dining, and enjoying our purchases of local wines. It was an easy 30-minute or less drive for everything we wanted to see and do. In particular, the bar had the best assortment of glasses of any VRBO we have ever rented, including the one in Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County, CA. Bonnie was very friendly and responsive to our inquiries. We all had a wonderful week at the Lodge!
This was the perfect house for our annual gathering of friends. The living spaces were large and well appointed, the kitchen was great, and there was plenty of space for us all. Hurricane Ian prevented us from enjoying the outside spaces much, but it really didn’t matter as there was plenty to occupy us indoors and in the neighborhood. We will hopefully return soon!
The pictures for this house simply don’t do it justice. It’s so vintage and cute and HUGE. My family had so much space for our trip, and the plethora outdoor space was wonderful. We saw tons of deer in the front lawn. Highly recommend.

I was born and raised in Crozet, 60+ years ago. I live on the adjacent property. I am semi retired, enjoy family time and traveling, Very energetic and stay busy with lots of projects.
Why they chose this property
I was fortunate to find property in Sugar Hollow to make this my home. I love the natural beauty of the area, the Moormans River, fresh air and abundance of wildlife, birds, hummingbirds and butterflies. I enjoy traveling, so I wanted to share a mountain home setting for others to enjoy.
What makes this property unique
This mountain lodge is not a cabin in the woods. You will get a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature but have all the amenities of a open spacious modern home. The layout captures the wonderful Blue Ridge Mountain views from almost every room. The open design works for large groups to gather in comfort.
