Charming Barn in Hope Valley - The Heart of the Peak District. Sleeps 7

The Barn at Mead Farm is a truly special place on the doorstep of the Pennine Way. With views throughout the Hope Valley, and the iconic Lose Hill, Win Hill and Kinder Scout range right on your doorstep it really is the perfect place to come and get away from it all.

Castleton is the busiest village in the area with plenty of places of interest to visit - The Blue John Mine, Speedwell Cavern, Treak Cliff Cavern, Peveril Castle to name just a few. There are several interesting shops selling jewellery and gifts and a variety of places to eat and drink.

The Barn is a short walk from The Cheshire Cheese Inn just along Edale Road. The Cheese has all the warmth of a traditional English pub with a friendly welcome good food and drink and a great atmosphere.

The Barn has been lovingly rebuilt in the original stone to reflect its history but with the benefits of modern living. The bedrooms feature vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and trusses. Light and airy with a contemporary feel, The Barn is an ideal place to relax after a long day exploring the area whether walking, cycling or sightseeing and taking in the many local attractions.

There are patio areas to the front and rear, both enjoying superb views across the Hope Valley and a sheltered patio with picnic tables for the summer months where you can enjoy views over Win Hill. Guests are also welcome to explore the private farmland where we have a flock of sheep grazing with their lambs in the spring season.

The Barn has a total of 4 bedrooms each with its own ensuite bathroom and can sleep seven guests. The property is divided into two separate holiday units, The Acorn which has one bedroom featuring a king size bed and The Oaks which features one bedroom with a king sized bed, one twin bedroom with two single beds, and one bedroom on the ground floor with a single bed. There is no internal connecting door between the two units.

There is off road parking provided in front of the barn and lockable storage for bikes and other outdoor equipment.

Both Oak and Acorn were beautifully presented, well equipped and clean. The location is fantastic for exploring the Peak District and there are fantastic walks on the doorstep.We enjoyed a relaxing stay and everything for our visit was clearly communicated. The parking was great for 3 vehicles, really useful with different family members coming from different locations.The space and layout was fantastic and the en suite bathrooms for each bedroom were a real bonus.The host gave us clear instructions about checking in as well as helpful information about local events.

Hiking and biking vacation with friends

Property is superb, modern, clean and fully equipped with everything needed. Off street parking for multiple vehicles was provided and is directly in front of property. Pubs and restaurants are within walking distance. Hikes and mountain bike rentals are very close by. Host was fantastic and made everything simple. Everyone in my group was super impressed with the property and the location.
