The apartment is just a stone’s throw from the Bermondsey Beer Mile, Bermondsey Street, Shad Thames, Borough Market and London Bridge. Within a mile you’ll find an incredible range of places to explore — from independent breweries and historic pubs to riverside restaurants and some of London’s most famous markets.

The Bermondsey Beer Mile is home to a number of renowned breweries, including Hawkes and The London Beer Factory. Tucked beneath the railway arches, each venue offers its own unique tasting experience, making it a must-visit destination for craft beer lovers.

There is also an exceptional variety of restaurants right on your doorstep. From elegant riverside dining spots to the vibrant food stalls of Borough Market — one of London’s busiest and most celebrated food markets — there is something for every taste.

The building itself dates back to the 1800s and has witnessed London’s transformation from its debaucherously mysterious past into the modern metropolis you see today.

Located in Shad Thames, beside the historic docks of London, this area once welcomed ships returning from across the world carrying spices, teas and dried fruits. Because of this, the neighbourhood became known as the “larder of London”.

Directly opposite the building you can see the River Neckinger inlet, where the tides of the Thames still wash in and out each day. In the 17th century this wharf was known as a hangman’s row for convicted pirates. Many were executed here, with the name Neckinger believed to derive from the term “devil’s neckcloth”, a slang reference to the hangman’s noose.

The pubs surrounding you are among the oldest in London. The George Inn on Borough High Street was rebuilt in 1677 following the Great Fire of London and remains one of the city’s most historic taverns. It is said that Charles Dickens once drank here, and his novel Oliver Twist was set partly around nearby St Saviour’s Dock, located directly opposite the apartment. Scenes from the novel’s 1948 film adaptation were also filmed in this area.

The history of London Bridge and its surrounding neighbourhoods is rich and endlessly fascinating, with plenty for you to discover during your stay.

The property is easily accessible by public transport and car.

The nearest train station, London Bridge, is just a 10-minute walk.

Heathrow Airport is a 1h30 drive from the property.

Please note the sofa bed dimensions are 180cm long by 130cm wide.

This is a great little flat in the south London borough of Southwark. We wanted something more than a hotel but didn't want the standard "home" feel and this place fit the spot! We were in the Shakespeare Room. Decorated in a way that I would never do in my own home, made for an excellent home base and was perfectly sized for my husband and I. Cute little kitchen and out door seating area. Large bathroom with good water pressure in the shower. Appreciated the bedroom at the opposite end of the flat from the living room so I could go to sleep and my hubby didn't have to worry about keeping me awake. Perks: -One of the most comfortable beds I've had away from home. Perfectly balanced soft and firm. -Flat was clean and easy to figure out how to use the heating. -Nice big bathroom with good water pressure in the shower and bright light over the sink. -Washer and dryer in the unit helps cut down on how much we needed to pack. You will need to bring your own detergent. -Restaurant downstairs (Johnny's Fish and Chips) was excellent and came in clutch on long days -About a 10 minute walk between the London Bridge and Bermondsey tube stations on the Jubilee Line. There is a Tesco Express about halfway between the tube station and the flat which is super helpful! Things to consider: -We came from North America, it's a washer/dryer combo and different that what we're are used to. We could NOT figure out how to get the dryer portion to work, but we also didn't reach out for support so that's on us. The clothes were damp and we were able to hang them to dry. - There is no plug in the bathroom for a hair dryer (provided) or other hair tools. The lighting near the mirrors outside of the bathroom where there are plugs is not great. -Bedroom is on the front of the building and there is noise from the street. We travel with a white noise machine so once we were asleep we were find but this may be a problem if you are a light sleeper. Overall this is a great spot and would have no concerns staying here again.
